so what do you all think about ren? I thought he was pretty decent until he pulled the line "I want to kill nana to make sure that she's all mine." For a while I thought that Reira and Ren might have something goingon, especially since ren went on a ride with her, and seemed to be ignoring Nana.. but then all the weird crazy lines of him wanting nana only for himself were said...

And what do you think of yasu? he is so hard to predict! I thought he liked nana, but now all these girls have been showing up and he looks like he might be interested in a few of them. [like when he invited miu over for breakfast.] Yasu is just one of the only characters that you really don't know about. Same with Takumi. they're both just reserved and Ai Yazawa doesn't let us have hints to how they feel about things in general.

In addition, can i just say that i really hate Takumi and that Nobu and Hachi were still together gonk ?

I agree. Ren and Nana's relationship IS unhealthy... and it's obvious it won't last. [have you read 53yet? it came out todayy] spoiler: when they gave nana the photo of reira and ren hugging, i knew that it was just a turn for the worse. And I thought it was great how yasu just covered her eyes. But it's probably really hard for both of them to "break off" even if they know they're not as in love as they used to be. They barely see eachother, and when they do they instantly click and have sex or something. I feel bad for both of them.

I don't want to see yasu end up with anyone either. If he WERE to end up with someone, i think it would probably be reira... because I feel like everytime they see eachother it gets a little "akward" for the two of them, or maybe it's just reira making a fuss. It would be lovely if yasu and nana would just get together. He supports her so much and they have a sort of bond that I don't think can be broken by anyone... at least i'd like to hope that. razz

Hachi defenitely knows Takumi knows that he sleeps around with other women and such, but I feel like despite all that, she knows that she needs to do what is best for the baby, even though i think deep down she really does care for nobu. spoilerch53 like when she describes how she envies misato and how she is following her dream, i feel like she knows that she would rather be doing something else with her life, rather than being a housewife with a husband who doesn't seem to care about her all that much...

Here's something I wrote after reading chapters 55 and 56 last night...

I just finished reading chapters 55 and 56 of Nana. I started crying at the end of 56. Poor Nana! I hope she is okay.

For a while, I was really mad at Hachi because she is 20 years old, pregnant, not doing anything, and marrying this guy who cheats on her and she knows it. But after she and Takumi got married, I felt kind of happy before her because she was so happy. She is able to love Takumi even though he is not the nicest of guys. I still don't like Takumi, but I'm glad Hachi is happy. Even though she doesn't have the best life, she is still able to be happy with what she has, and I think that is a good quality.

I used to hate Reira because she was so weak, but eventually that hate went away and now I even like her. I feel bad for her because she is trying to stand up tall on her own, but it's really hard for her. I know it must have taken a lot for her to tell Shin they shouldn't see each other anymore. Didn't she do that once before? I hope she can find someone who really loves her, because I know she's really lonely. It's so sad. sad

Yasu. DON'T GO OUT WITH MIU. crying Nonononononono! I mean, it's very cute and all but I think that Yasu should be with Nana. I definitely think he has an alcohol problem now, and I think that Miu is right, he is trying to find a girlfriend to take Nana's place in his heart. I think that he lied when he said that he would still like Miu even if Nana and Ren broke up. I think that for once, he just wants to be in a relationship and that Miu is kind of convenient. I think that he would want Nana if she and Ren did break up, and I think that even if he and Miu do get together, they don't have a chance at a lasting relationship because she wouldn't be able to trust him because he'd be spending more time with Nana than with her, and also because of what she said about relationships and marriage.

Le sigh. The story is moving really slowly. Oh, I forgot about the part where the real Uehara Misato's friend's sister (something like that) is SHION (I think that's her name)! =o What is going to happen now? I imagine that Shion will recognize the likeness between the two, especially with Misato in Nana-like garb. What will happen if she finds out that's her idol is her sister? o.o And what's gonna happen with the other Misato? She knows they know about Nana's sister now and she definitely looked weirded out by it, but she should have known that they would find out if Blast got big!! RAAAAAAAAAR!!!!!!!!!

That's true. The other members of Trapnest refer to Reira as their "Princess." Plus, she's younger than the rest of them, right? So they would probably be protective of her anyway.

It is hard to figure out Yasu's inner thoughts... but I still just don't want to see him with Miu. It's not fair to him, but I think he does need to be by Nana's side. Both he and Nana seem to be freaking out over each other's relationships -- Yasu is jealous that Nana is engaged to Ren, and Nana is jealous of Miu. They both need to figure things out.

Here's a question for anyone who's up to date with the latest chapters: How much longer do you think the series will go on? It seems to be moving quite slowly lately, but the latest chapter [58] had the flash forward that revealed information crucial to the ending.

It might be neat if the flash forwards started occurring a little more frequently until the story catches up with it, and then the story continues on to reunite Nana and everyone else.

eee ewll i just read ch 58 last night and its CRAZY. I'm really curious to see how this manga will end. I agree with princeelly and solarfacade, and i don't know how far you two of read..

but ch58 defenitely had a lot of future-updates in it. SPOILERS. So, any theories on WHY nana died her hair blonde and looks sort of like Miu/Myu and moved to England to sing? And who was the guy who asked the guy to search for nana? i havent seen that name before... There are so many new questions that i really wish they would answer.

Maybe nana looks like miu because Yasu likes miu, and i feel nana has a good connection to yasu, and maybe a part of her wants to be like miu since yasu likes girls like miu? maybe? however, nana and ren's relationship seems to be falling apart..

yeah.. any other opinions? guesses? theories?

Nana basically said that her relationship with Ren can't last, so I wonder when it will completely fall apart. I worried that Yasu and Miu are getting in too deep. If Miu's got that cutting issue, then Yasu might have to get really serious about her.

I'm also curious as to what happened at the ocean. Hopefully, Chapter 59 will have some more clues.

The issues with Misato have taken an interesting turn with chapter 59. I'm trying to figure out if Tsuzuki Mai is another fake name or a real one. If it's real, Misato's connection is becoming more and more clear. Could she be Nana's cousin? Or, Miyuki might have done something to cause Misato to act this way.
