Granted, his stories are more in line with the science-fiction genre, but the dark atmosphere and paranoia within his writings are certainly things which appeal to us.

d**k's works usually involve dystopian societies, government-corporate-media control, strange drugs, and the subjective natures of reality and identety. Some of his more well known works include "Minority Report," Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (Filmed as Blade Runner), and "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" (Filmed as Total Recall).

This summer, another Hollywood adaptation of a Phillip K. d**k novel, A Scanner Darkly, will receive wide theatrical release.

Wow, he's processed some damn great ideas. I can only imagine the books are better than the movies... At least Minority Report... I'm sorry but that movie dissapointed me beyond belief.

If one can actually manage to ignore everything evil and mind-numbingly awful about the real Tom Cruise, Minority Report can actually be pretty enjoyable. I, for one, like it and found many aspects of Steven Speilberg's interpretation of the year 2054 amusing ("Hello, Mr. Yukkamoto and welcome back to the GAP!").

After all, it could have been a lot worse if it were filmed the way it was originally intended to--as a direct sequel to Total Recall and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. No disrespect to Totall Recall or Mr. Schwarzenegger, but I cannot imagine any plausible continuation to the story. There's a reason why nobody acknowledges Total Recal 2070.
