Hello, my name is Carl (Yeah I know I have a female avatar). I've been thinking of switching my OS to linux, and I hoped this guild could help me learn more about it before I actually re-install it (I had it for a few days but couldn't figure some stuff out, so I dropped it until I could learn more)♥

I have a live CD of Ubuntu, thats what I tried. I want to set up a multi-boot so I can choose between Linux and windows, because ALOT of the programs I use on XP can't be used on Linux gonk Any idea on how I would go about doing that?♥

Greetings.
I'm PhaseBurn, and though my parents insist it isn't my name, I still remain PhaseBurn. My online friends call me pb, or, Davy. My cruel governess calls me David.
I'm 24, and have been working with linux professionally since I was 16. Currently, I have a number of systems I own and/or maintain running Gentoo linux (my favorite distro) and am proud to be 100% windows free.
I am an ircop on a 50k user IRC network, where I maintain ChanServ, the hub servers, and a couple leafs, with the rest of my team, as well as promote law and order by removing abusive jerks. I hold ops in the official #linux channel on the network, as I've done for 4 years now, and, have a lot of fun on IRC. If the guild wants an IRC channel, btw, I'd be happy to register one for it.
I play a lot of World of WarCraft, having a level 60 priest and a 60 warlock, and I'm working on a 60 mage. In a raiding guild, one of the best on my servers, and enjoying what that brings.
Professionally, I've done linux admin and linux security for internet service providers for years, as well as working for other large companies doing networking and/or security.
I own a number of boxes, all running gentoo linux (and formerly, other distros over the years). A number of my friends are linux developers, including the kernel lead for gentoo himself. I'm proud to be here, and offer my opinions on anything. I will be the first to admit that my memory sucks and if I don't use things often I tend to forget them, so I sometimes ask the stupidiest questions, and other days, you'll find me posting, trying to get something or other working that may not even be possible just for fun...
Anyway, good to be here, and I'm glad to meet you all. Pictures of me available in any thread that allows for them, but since nobody's posted one here yet, I won't be the first.
Peace, Love, and, Linux!

hi my name is edwin, iam a Ubuntu 5.10 user and will soon have Kubuntu because it looks so much better and the whole package is one thing...unlike GNOME which has a seperate filemanager...i heard that KDE is also faster so...i will have to see into that. But what i know is that it has far more eye candy.
oh, and iam a python programmer, doing alright, still in tutorials though...

he eh, who's gonna take the title dan this time, cause this one has another with him.
I started using linux a while ago, I have Arch Linux and Windows XP Dual-Booting on my computer.
Once you grasp the universal aspects of how dual booting works, it can get interesting. ^_^ I have a graphical boot screen.
Linux helped me figure out more of how the computer actualy worked. (To bad my computer has been in the shop for almost 3 weeks... Stuped slow computer companys, All I need is for them to hand me 3 friggin pieces of hardware, I can install them myself.)
