Anything that goes on the rebel weyr goes here unless you have permission to do otherwise.

Jinx walked through the caverns of the Rebel Cliffs, her pockets bulging with this and that. But none of that concerned her now. She was too obsorbed with the object in her hand. It part of a pulley system from what should have been a lift, but it wasn't turning. Something was wrong with the gears. And now Jinx was examining it, on the move, like always, and not watching where she was going.

Out on the cliffs, Laylana was lounging with her beautiful green, absorbing the afternoon sunlight and just enjoying the peace she gained from being with Feninth.

Where are they? She didn't even to use names; Feninth knew who she meant.

I'm not sure. They left the Weyr this morning and haven't been back since, as far as I know. They'll call us if anything comes up.

Laylana nodded and shifted positions, smiling slightly to herself. Feninth had had three Flights since last year, and despite the two men Laylana had slept with for them- one persistent brown had caught the green twice- she still liked and trusted no one in the Weyr very much, but for her closest friend and the woman's white-scarlet two-tone.

Yes, they will, she replied unnecessarily, not wanting to speak aloud and break the quiet of the afternoon.

"So, what do you want to do today?" came a voice from behind Laylana.

A small woman emerged, hands clasped behind her back and her head tilted to the side, her everpresent frown on her face. Her hair was a tad bit longer than it was three years ago, and the white streak was most definatey whiter. "Troath said you were bored." she commented as she ambled over to them. "She didn't feel like coming. She just wanted to sleep right now....lazy bum." she added with a small smirk.

Laylana smirked back, but Shard could most likely see the genuine affection under the surface contempt.

"I'm afraid that Feninth isn't much better," Laylana comment to her closest and only friend. "Keli been up to anything lately? I'm sure that her Queen should be due to rise and Clutch sometime soon... Lord knows the last Hatching was disaster enough for her to kick into drive for the current Candidates." The last Flight of Keli's queen had produced a Clutch of 22 eggs, and nearly half of them had gone between, sending the Rebel leader into a fury. To be prepared for the next Flight, Keli had sent her own "Searchriders" out to kidnap and coerce suitable Candidates for their cause, and it was coming up on the time that their gold would take to the skies again.

(Forgive me for being presumptious, but in 3 years...? There would have to have been other Flights.)

Shard shrugged as she walked over to sit beside Laylana, pulling her knees up to her chin as she wrapped her arms around them. "How am I supposed to know? You know how secretive Keli gets. Besides, I'm simply a lowly Scarlet-White rider. I'm of no importance to her except as another wariior for her cause." she muttered, narrowing her eyes slightly. "She won't even let me go out to find more candidates, ones who won't run away the first chance they get." she added, allowing her mouth to pucker up in a slight pout. "Apparently I'm 'too young and inexperienced'. Keli just needs to get over it already. I mean, I see no problem with taking over the weyr and all, but they are already so much larger than us, what could Keli hope to expect with another all out confrontation? Sometimes I think she has driven herself insane." she told her friend, speaking quietly. It wouldn't be good to be overheard voicing these thoughts.

Laylana studied her friend seriously a moment, then wrapped an arm around her friend's shoulder and whispered to her, so that they wouldn't be overheard, "I have thought the same thing for 2 years now. Oftentimes I wonder if she was ever sane." Laylana leaned back at smiled slightly at Sharp, commenting in a normal volume, "Hopefully this next Clutch will herald some interesting dragonets for us to sink our teeth into. As for Shining Heights... the same thing goes. Only literally, instead of figuratively." Laylana gave a wicked, teasing grin, trying to boost her best friend's spirits.

"Think of it this way: no matter where the next Clutch is laid, we'll end up with eggs. I'll admit, I have my doubts about whether we can reach the Shining Heights next Clutch," she didn't even bother to lower her voice, "Especially after hearing of the security measures on the last few Hatchings there, but if they are becoming lax in their attentiveness, we may have a chance to snag a few; and hopefully, those will stay with us instead of betweening." The open contempt in Laylana's voice seemed to make it harsher as well as louder, although the volume of the words never changed.

Be careful what you say and where you say it, Laylana, Feninth warned, opening one lid to peer through the second at her rider. Not so much as the walls here can be trusted. Except for Shard and Troath, of course.

Laylana nodded in reply and looked out over the cliff's edge at the scenery extending for miles. For just a moment, she had nothing more to say.

Jinx only looked up. She almost had the problem with the pulleys worked out, but the sound of voices had drawen her attention from it for the moment. Looking around, she wondered how she had gotten up here, as she seemed to remember being in the lower caverens. Oh, well, things like that were always happening to her.

Shard sighed, leaning against her friend. She was the only person Shard felt truly relaxed with, besides Troath, of course. At Lana's whisper, she nodded slightly, rolling her eyes. "That rumor has been running around for a while." she whispered back. She nodded again. "Yes, a new clutch would be nice. With maybe some new dragons? Hmm, I hear the Jr. Werywoman's dragon will be Flying soon over there, so they'll have a nice clutch soon. And really, it doesn't matter if we snatch eggs. If there are dragons in that clutch meant for our candidates, they'll between over here like the last few times." she told Laylana, leaning back on her hands. Suddenly, she tilted her head, catching the sound of wings. Soon little Troath appeared, settling on the edge, eyes whirling.

Someone listens. she said into the minds of both Shard and Laylana.

Shard looked over at Laylana, pursing her lips together.

Laylana's brows knit together and she frowned, turning to look towards the opening to their ledge. For the moment, the conversation topic would have to be diverted.

Getting to her feet, the dark-haired beauty brushed off her pants and walked to the entrance, almost violently thrusting her upper body into the hallway beyond and looking in both directions for the intruder. Her frown morphed into a scowl at the sight of a girl not far away.

"What do you want?" She snapped, falling just short of an unladylike snarl.

Jinx jerked back as the rider thrust her head into the hallway. "Uhh....na..na..nooothingg." Jinx stammered, throw off gaurd by the fiercness in the lady's voice. "I was just... walking." Belatedly, Jinx rembered to give something of a bow, as she had been thaught to do. These riders are sure touchy folk, aren't they? she thought.

"Well keep on walking then," Laylana snapped, still suspicious. The girl seemed genuine, but in such a hard place as the Rebel Weyr Lana had learned to become suspicious quite easily.

Be calm, Laylana. If she has truly heard nothing and is working for Keli, she could report back that you are suspicious-seeming and worth keeping an eye on, Feninth warned, opening her eyelids and lifting her head slightly.

And being nice may incense her to stay longer, which is just as bad, the woman replied, although she huffed and calmed herself enough that when she looked at Jinx again it was only mildly annoyed and rather judging.

"What's your name, girl?" She asked instead of scaring the younger female away further.

"Jinx," she stated matter-of-factly, rather proud of it, dispite the teasing she usually got. "What's yours?" she almost snapped back.

Lana's eyes narrowed as she studied the girl. If she was an agent of Keli...

Oh well. Feninth was all she needed now- oh, and Shard and Troanth of course. If she was attacked she'd be more than ready to fly hundreds of dragonlengths away. If necessary, she'd even go to Shining Heights, although she'd prefer that not happen.

"Laylana, rider of Green Feninth. You shouldn't be standing about eavesdropping."

"I wasn't eavesdropping!" Jinx protested, "I was just trying to figure this out." Jinx held up the pulley in her hands, she sincerely didn' know what the rider was talking about. "I just tend to wander while I htink, that's all." Jinx shrugged.
