A question one may be able to answer

Remember no question is too stupid, and if none of us can find an answer we may know somone who can answer the question.

Ok, I really can't take it anymore, this one question has been eating away at the back of my mind ever since I got into actually watching anime.

Well I only saw the first episode/trailer/pre release, I don't know exactly how to describe it, it was a movie we borrowed from a guy who's wife worked for a film company and she reviewed the movies in full format. Anyway I can describe the movie/show (it's hard to say which) and give the name of the main character, but I have no clue what the name of it is, I would know more but it was in Japanese and this was like five or six years ago, so I had little clue to what they were saying, I had to read the subtitles which to me at the time was stupid and the movie/show was a heck of a lot more interesting.

The main character is Goku, yes I do realize how common this name is, and no it is not Dragon Ball or any of the latter, as this was a technological based movie/show, not a martial arts/Ki show, plus I have seen more than enough of all the Dragon Ball and the later ones in the series to know for a fact that, that is not it. There are similar aspects, like the staff that extends, the difference is in the one I'm talking about it's more of a stick at first, he stores it in an interior pocket of his jacket, and it is controled by a cybernetic eye, which he only has one of, how he got them is a little foggy but I remember that he uses them in combanation to exact revenge, for what I cannnot remember but it is in a high office building, and he is as far as I can tell the only one with technological upgrades, at first the fact of getting them seemed a dream to him as he woke up on a park bench unscathed, a newspaper on his chest, he sits up and there is the staff that they gave him under the paper and he realizes that it wasn't a dream, but reality. It is a very grafic show, blood violencs and the sorts, I can't rember much else but if you've seen it that more than likely should be more than enough to spark that, that's what it is.

I remember that he was wearing a longer coat, maybe a trench coat, but it was a darker color, he was a young man, maybe about 20, and if I'm not mistaken his hair was shorter, I can't remember color, and I don't think that that was it, but maybe it was, maybe it wasn't.

Ok, that's not the shoe, I thought that I recognized the name, I've seen that show, the style is too happy and upbeat, the one I saw was a darker style, like a horror movie type of style, but in an animated form.

I know it isn't, but it should be more than enough for someone who's seen it to say the name, though at this rate I doubt any have.
