Almost no other band has made me want to pick up my strat, put on as much gain and overdrive that i can, throw some wah, and just jam makeing music that is so distorted that it sounds like a plastic fork being jamed in to a fan blade.

This grunge/metal band started in 1985 in Seattle WA. Personly i think there one of the most memorable bands from the 90's grunge movement. There songs can sway from being pritty, to dirty and grungy. And was sad to here that there lead singer died from a drug OD in 02'. They have been one of my fav bands sence i was about...10. And they are one of the bigger infulences on my playing in my current band. (Portable Forest)

How do you guys feel 'bout them?

Dirt is a top-notch album.

Dirt is my favorite album, but Facelift has many songs that stand out above the rest. And I don't mean "Man In The Box." I mean "I Know Something ('Bout You)."

Albums, I have heard none from them, but I have hear some more than 8 songs from them, and I have pretty much liked them all, not one of my top bands, but they're definitely very good to me... Down in a Hole is my favorite of what I have heard, though Heaven beside you is also remarkable. smile

AiC have been one of my favourite bands for as long as I can remember. My introduction to music is hazey now but i'm pretty sure they were one one of the main bands that shaped my taste in music. I will always have the greatest of respect for them.

I'm going to see the them during the summer, or at least the reformed version. I just hope this new singer doesn't screw up the songs completely, i'll just have to wait and see.

I really don't get Alice In Chains. They don't work for me and I don't really feel anything from their music.

I hear people talk about what they get from AiC, and it's very similar to what I get from Pearl Jam, but AiC don't do it for me.

Johnny Cash's 'Rusty Cage' ftw though

I like Pearl Jam, but for me Eddie Vedder's voice doesn't create the same atmosphere that Layne's did. I always found there was something too clean cut and by the book about Pearl Jam that stopped me from loving them like AiC.

While "Ten" is a great album, "Dirt" has a raw honesty about it that makes Ten feel a little dull in comparison.

Rusty Cage was a Soundgarden original btw. Johnny Cash's cover was brilliant though. 3nodding
