How much pre-information is usually needed to start up an RP?

O.O Uh.... Try to come at that from the point of view that has heard absolutly nothing about what you are going to open a roleplay of. Even if it's stupid and trivial, some people might not know much about it. There's always the chance that many, or just a few people might not know anything about what you're going to open a roleplay on. I guess it depends.

Well, what some people do is they make an OOC topic in here and then give out a bit of info about it; and others just go ahead and make the RP in the RP subforum straight away.

Well, I dunno. The more information the easier (in my opinion) it is to roleplay, and we've had all kinds of results. Like, Xin had talked about his roleplay before making it, and that got me to promise to join, but I spontaniously made a Harry Potter roleplay, and it has the most posts out of all of the roleplays at the moment. (However, it's kind of at a hiatus at the moment due to reasons I'm not disclousing. ^^; )

Yeah, both ways work. Ultimately it's the RP not the setup that wins people over.

I like to have things pretty well figured out and lay out a basic background for starters but before people start playing give a more indepth one. Of course no one seems literested in my RP's so maybe this won't help after all. sweatdrop sorry...
