Apparently, this is about Muse's new single.
I hate it. I'm angry because they had to ruin the fact that I loved all the songs they'd ever recorded. And now I don't.
The reason as to why I hate SMBH:
The song is based on horrible dance rythms that goes on and on, the song never ends, just repeat itself and matt sounds like an imitation of Prince.
I haven't spoken to anyone who dislikes the new single, SMBH, so I figured I would make it a thread. If anyone strongly objects with it being a disappointment, please write here too.

I think it was amazing. It really shows the distance that Muse can cover. Unlike bands like radiohead and coldplay; that are stuck in their own style; Muse have a really diverse range of talent; and this song proves it. I just totally fell in love with the song when I heard it; and I can't stop listening to it. As for the vocals; Matt sings really sexy; and I really like it 3nodding but that's just me.

Well, it's always a matter of taste I guess. I got stuck in their 'sound', and I'm not comfortable with the abrupt change. I didn't recognize them in SMBH. Diversity is great, but I still believe they lost their own sound that can be heard in the previous records.
But as I said, a matter of taste 3nodding

I always thought each album had it's own sound. I've never been able to lable Muse like that...I mean the first one had this innocent 'we're new' feel to it...O.O.S was like...them breaking out into themselves; being what they are and expressing their true talent for the first time. Hulaballoo was quite calming and yet in some ways hyper...a bit of a mix of both. Absolution was really apocalyptic...negative but cool. And the new album has this kind of techno-rock feel to it...like it's gonna be something totally original again. Muse...I've never really noticed them have a 'sound'. They're always different...now Coldplay on the other hand...I can tell one of their new songs just by hearing the first two words. (Not that I don't like them; just that they have their own stereotypical sound...and I don't think that would work for Muse. I love them because their music is so diverse)

I agree with you, but my point is that SMBH is too far off from what I consider to be Muse. Of course they have changed a lot, but their past songs has (to me at least) something that tells me what I'm hearing is something by Muse.
SMBH is much simpler in rythm and lyrics than I expected. And lacks variation. I would hate it if they turned out as Coldplay, because they're totally labeled. I'm not talking about labeling them to a genre or a special type of music, I just think they took five steps backwords with this song.
To say it in fewer words: Too much change, I like the older songs much better.

I too believe that each one of Muse's albums had its own unique sound. Although as of now I can't say I love it or hate it, I certainly do like the fact that they are not sticking to one style. I will have to wait until the actual single/album comes out to decided whether or not I like it as a whole. Currently, I'm undecided because if the whole album sounds similar to SMBH, I'm not sure I'd be able to appreciate it as much. This has a lot to do with the fact that I don't adjust to change that much, and partly to do with the fact that I love Muse and that drastic of a change would be weird not to mention I like their older stuff better. I guess eventually I'd get used to it and end up liking it anyway, but still...

I just really like the way Mattie is trying out his vocal thing more in SMBH and Knights of Cydonia...it's really inspirational 3nodding I suppose we have our own thoughts; but I adore them; and seriously am jumping around screaming because I have to wait so long for the album gonk

I Screamed when I heard it and then started shouting "WHAT HAVE THEY DONE WITH MY MUSE"! I don't know if I can like it or if I hate it now. My friend's sister thought it was Britney when she first heard it. I love muse's sound so much, where did it go. I can undertand they will want to change it a bit for a new album, put in some variation but come on!
Please say the rest of the album is as super great as absolution or i don't know what i'll do.

It's actually a really addictive song.
I was a little cautious at first about it, buit then I listened to it more.
And more.
And i realised that it's still muse, and it's awesome. Then I saw them play it live.
: D
The other songs i'm sure will be good, I'm kinda hoping for stuff similar to absolution.

i'm sure i'll get screamed for saying this, but i think the beat/rythemy things are just moving back in the direction of radiohead. i love the song, but i think they should have went a different way.
