Hello fellow guild members! I'd like to discuss science for a little bit.

Don't get me wrong, I love to study science (the science that I understand), but to tell you the truth, I think 99.9% of it is BS. The reason I say this is because a lot of ideas out there are improbable.

For example, a lot of people believe that the brain is controlled by chemicals and that people have no form of spiritual control. In other words, some people believe people to be no more than animals. A lot of people say that only the brain is in control, and that different personalities are formed in the brain. There are many fundemental flaws in that theory. If all brains are the same, then wouldn't we be all the same? Aren't the chemicals the same? How could chemicals create different personalities if they're all the same? how could somebody love someone else or create artwork on chemicals? Are the chemicals in control? That's very flawed to me.

I watched this movie (I forgot the title) about how you become addicted to different moods because whenever you're angry or something the chemicals that are from the emotion infect your body. So you become addicted to that emotion. it talked about how chemicals from your brain surge through your body with light speed through the blood stream and attach themselves to nerve recepters. Hence, you get high off your own emotions. So, we're all basically like crack addicts like the characters in Requiem for a Dream to our own emotions? Does that make any sense? First off, if our body produces those chemicals, which i don't believe it does, then wouldn't we be immune to them? Second of all, how the hell could you know that? How do you measure chemicals inside of somebody when they're alive? How could you get that info without killing a person? How could chemicals surge through your body like light if our heart doesn't pump blood that quickly (NOT EVEN CLOSE). How would the chemicals know where to go? it's all flawed in my opinion.

I could go on, but I won't. I;d like to hear what your guys' viewpoints are on science.

Ahhh! YES! First reply! I think that science can be very cool. (especially in Mythbusters the tv show on Discovery channel) I think that the brain is a model to marvel at. What do you think Jehovah was thinking when he was creating the brain? "Humm... maybe I should make it kind of squishy and kinda fluffy. Oh here's an idea, why don't I make the brain the processing unit for the body and it's functions." What a loving God Jehovah is!

I also know that science can get into too much nonsense and trouble. Now scientists are trying to create clones of humans. yeah, that'll be the day ( no offense) !

There's a cute little joke that I know of. It goes like this. One day these two scientists had a brain blast. Why don't we make another human? Let's try to do this in front of Jehovah so he can see how we can do this. So they did. They said," okay first we're gonna need some dirt."
"No you can't do that. I created the dirt and sand."
"Okay then we'll get some water."
"Nope, I created that too."

You see, some scientists are too into science that they don't back up and realize that some of the stuff just can't be done. Jehovah, though, is the smartest scientist there is, huh? Thus he is the creator.

LOL.

That's a great way to put it. God/Jehovah is the king of all kings. He shows that every day.

Er... The chemicals in the brain are basically known to be there, some of them actually can drive a human being mad and make them sick when ingested. (An ailment that is by no means unheard of in cannibal tribes.) The thing is that they don't control you, but they can effect you. Also, I'm pretty sure that people only have the same general amount of ___ and __, there's no amount that's set in stone for everybody. (Especially with imbalances.) If these chemicals didn't exist, then treatments for imbalances using the chemicals that you lack wouldn't work like they do.

Don't get me wrong here... I can't exactly say I agree with all scientific theories, but science is going to be our best shot at figuring out the Universe short of some deity actually coming down and saying "hey, you. This is the truth. >=l" And I'm currently trying to figure out where you got your information that said the chemicals have control over us. >_>

As one final note... Scientifically speaking, humans are animals. We belong to the kingdom animalia, and have the cellular structure of an animal, not of a plant or some other category all it's own. I'm not sure why this seems to offend people so much, I mean look at the other creatures. They aren;t exactly mindless beings. (At least, not always...) If animals were all the same and didn't have some sort of personality all their own like we do (Possibly even souls?) then all members of a species would act the same, and I sure know from experience that not all anoles have an equal amount of intelligence and the same behavior. Take one female green I had long ago named Athena, she was smart enough not only to manage to escape her cage at her own will when she wanted to explore my room while no other anoles could, but she was smart enough to stay in the room because of the cats roaming the house, and to return to her cage and wait for me to let her back in so she could get fed.

EDIT: ... Somehow in that rant I somehow seem to have not made a clear point. Just because we're animals doesn't mean we're "mere" animals. Think of how complex every form of life is, and how utterly amazing a simple flea is. An animal isn't just some thing to be scoffed at, their/our existance is truely miraculous.

Don't get me wrong, science can definitely make valid, true points, but in my honest opinion most of it is so flawed.

Yes, there are chemicals in the body, no question, but there's no way they are in control. It's a basic scientific belief for the most part that we are all soulless animals that are run by chemicals. That doesn't make any sense. If we were, then how could we be any different than say a dog or cat or an ape? We'd just be programmed machines that can't think for themselves. The brain is really only a hunk of meat. How could it store anything inside of it if it's only meat ran by chemicals? That would suggest that chemicals are thinking beings, which we all already know isn't true.

Science is cool, but I just don't believe most of it. That is, unless of courss I see something for myself.

Not at all. 3nodding I'm just saying that I don't trust most science, because science is susposed to be the obvious, right? Well, most of it is theory.

Yeah, a lot of times I like to listen to some science facts on the discover channel, but then sometimes I get fed up and turn it off.

It bugs me as well when you're watching a show that teaches theories, but the entire time they're talking as if it's 100% fact.

*nodds head way up and down* They sometimes do that on Mythbusters, I think.
