Angels and Gods
The Angelic race as you know them, messengers of the gods and creatures of pure good, is only a myth. And in every myth there is a part that is true. Yes, Angels are messengers of the gods, but there is much more to it. It all started when Chaelum was still young and there was alot of magic in the world. Up in the skies, higher than the thick and firm structure of the highest clouds, there lived a nation. They were shaped as Man but with wings on their back and they possessed a basic knowlegde of magic. Like Man, they too had their social structures and they ran their own lives. There were warriors, nobles and simple workers. But all of them were happy. Up in their divine land of Monsokion, which the Groundlings see as a paradise, nothing could disturb these fine and elegant creatures.
For many years they lived in peace, until something unexpected happened. On the grounds of Chaelum something stirred. Man had found a way to master magic. During the construction of another palace, they had stumbled on ancient scrolls, once written by the Elder Angels and lost for many centuries. This tome contained the key to all magic in the world and those who had discovered it did not hesitate. A select group of Man had learned how to read and use the scrolls and soon they became powerful, extremely powerful. To others of their kind, they were seen as gods and they thought so as well. Arrogance had struck them, making them decide they no longer belonged in this world but that they should be in Paradise, in Monsokion. With the book as aid they had no trouble teleporting them to this perfect world up in the sky. It was a place with such great beauty, one could not possibly imagine it. Seeing this wealth and sublime location they would never want to leave again. It did not take long before they encountered the original inhabitants, the Angels, who were everything but pleased to find these mortal strangers in their realm. Protest emerged from all winged creatures present but because of their obsession for Monsokion, Man refused to return back to the ground of Chaelum. Using the most powerful spells in the scrolls, changing the fate of Monsokion forever, they overpowered the natives and made them their slaves.

Gods ~They are all powerful due to the book of magic they have found. Now they keep these spells safely hidden in Monsokion where only the Gods can reach it. No one else knows of this place nor will the Gods bother telling anyone else, for their own safekeeping. ~The Gods enslaved the Angels and use them as heralds to keep in touch with the world below. They rarely go down themselves because Groundlings are not worthy of coming in contact with them. However, there are some exceptions. When Groundlings like Empress K'tianna of the Amirians or Samiriana, Mother of all Magic, have qualities similar to the Gods, they may get a chance to one day visit the Monsokion. ~The Gods are divided into roughly two groups. For Polytheism the Groundlings tend to call on Baoda and his family. One also has Monotheism, then you worship a single Goddess, Tokieh. Depending on the species and their location you can have Polytheism or Monotheism. It is said that more refined creatures choose for Monotheism. ~One of the things that seperates the Gods from Groundlings is their immortality. All inhabitants of Chaelum's earth are mortal. Some can live forever if they are not killed but the Gods cannot be killed, unless someone uses the spell book.

Angels ~The Angels have become slaves of the Gods. They are servants, harbingers and fighters. They still represent the kind face of Monsokion and are gentle of nature. ~All Angels or Siu Cli as they are called in Chaelic (meaning Gentle Spirit) have wings from the moment they are born. They use it for warmth, protection and also to fly of course. The wings are mostly very soft and fluffy. An Angel cannot lose its wings unless they are cut off. Wings do not grow back but can only be restored by a difficult magic spell. Once in a while you encounter a Siu Cli with black wings. He is a fallen one and was punished by the Gods for his mistakes. A black-winged Angel is not necessary an evil one. He only has done something to displease the Gods. For this his wings were dyed black and he was banned from Monsokion. ~Siu Cli and Groundlings have a special liaison. Those on Chaelum see these winged creatures as a magnificent improvement of themselves. Angels are often personal guardians, which is why Man and other species get a feeling of safety upon seeing or thinking of them. Normally it would be considered a great shame for Siu Cli to mix with Groundlings but it happens now and then. Depending on the God the Angel works for, he gets a blessing or a curse upon him.

Ambrosius

Ambrosius was one of the many Angels who had to work hard for the Gods. He was a messenger, meaning that if a mortal prayed to any of the Gods and these were in a good mood, they would sent down one of their minions to give the mortal advice or assistance. This still young Angel was a -rare- motivated worker. Though this work always kept him occupied and he had no friends whatsoever. In his spare time he sat in his room and played a lute-shaped instrument. He kept to himself and rarely spoke at all. One day, the beautiful Goddess Tokieh sent him on a mission. Ambrosius had to protect the beloved Empress of Nitar, K'tianna, who always had been close to the Gods because of her beauty, grace and magic skills. And thus the young man became K'tianna's Guardian Angel. However it is not the kind of guardian most people have in their minds. This protector is not invisible, it is not some unreachable force that grands you a stronger aura. No, Ambrosius is clearly visible to everyone. You can see his large figure with broad shoulders and divine torso, as well as his long grey white hair and soft fluffy wings he used to fly and to protect himself. For a small time Ambrosius stayed at K'tianna's court. He executed his work with great love and care for he adored her and she adored him. Some people even say there was something going on between them. But no one could proove a thing for Guardian Angels do not lose their powers if they fall in love with a Groundling. The only thing that stood in between Angels and Groundlings was shame. A creature of the sky should not be with one of the earth. Though whether they were in love or not, K'tianna was being threatened by the evil Lord Soulex of the Realm of the Doomed. Ambrosius wanted to anticipate and stop Soulex before he could harm the graceful Empress. Unfortunately, the dark lord is stronger than an Angel and Ambrosius was killed, decapitated. His head was thrown at the feet of the Empress who cried for many days.
