Aletea really wasn't sure about this, but she was hoping that perhaps those two she had met before were here, at Shy's office - she needed someone to watch Varian. She couldn't bring him shopping with her, when his sole purpose seemed to be run off and try to make her buy him things.
And she really hoped that strange duo - Zaniel and Dessa - weren't here. Something about them just made her uneasy.
With as sullen Varian in tow (after all, he missed out on getting to go shopping), she entered the office and peered around hopefully.

"Isn't that called trespassing?"
Zaniel stood at the desk coolly, riffling through some papers with his back towards the door. Still, it didn't stop him from knowing someone had walked in, or who it was. He knew her scent now.
It was that kid's mortal guardian.
Choosing the papers he needed, Zaniel neatly folded it in half and tucked it into the inside pocket of the lab coat.

Aletea stopped the instant she heard and noticed Zaniel. Already, she was running through a list of curses in her mind - she should have just seen if any of her friends were at home...none of her neighbors could (or just weren't willing) to watch Varian, but maybe she could have guilted a friend into doing so.
"This is a public building. Is...anyone else here? I need someone to watch Varian for me..."
She couldn't keep some hope from entering her voice then - but if there wasn't, she'd have to leave Varian with him. Those other two fae had said he wouldn't hurt her little blonde, but she still didn't like it.
Varian, on the other hand, seemed to perk up a little. He didn't get to go shopping, no, but he got to see Zaniel - and that man already had his fascination, alongside Dessa. The vain child seperated from his guardian then, fixing curious eyes on Zaniel.

"Watch him?" turning around with a slight frown, he acknowledged the young boy with a nod. He was fae. They, were fae. Not like this human who was watching him with oddly hopefuly eyes.
Why would anyone be hopeful?
"Varian can take care of himself. Why would you need anyone to watch him?"
He thumbed the pager in his front pocket, dialling for Dessa. Together, they could figure it out. And maybe have some fun with their little apprentice.

"He's a child - I can't leave him by himself!"
And for more reasons then just the fact that he was a child. She was primarily concerned that he would swipe any money she left at home, then run out and go shopping. It honestly sounded like something he would do.
"Look, do you think that...well, you could watch him? I just need to run out for a little bit, so I won't be long."
Varian felt a smug expression creep onto his face at the comment about him being able to take care of himself. Of course he could. If he happened to go out to a gallery, or go buy something, well...it wasn't like he was causing lasting harm.

Zaniel's features darkened in a look of irritation. Was this woman YELLING at him? By what right did she think she was allowed to raise her voice at a fae, at .... well, at him?
Before he could open his mouth and verbally attack her, Dessa slipped in through the back door. It was hard for her to go anywhere unnoticed, for her hair gave enough warning that she waa due to arrive.
And arrive she did. In a long, black gown made more of lace than material, a curious expression on her face. Curious the way snake watched their prey do tricks, really.
"Zaniel, when you paged me..." she murmured. "I thought it was an emergency."
"It seems it is." he murmured right back ."She wants us to watch Varian."
Dessa blinked. "Whatever for?" she asked. "He looks like he can take care of himself."

Aletea was beginning to feel as if she was dealing with people who had, well, never dealt with children. You couldn't leave children alone - teenagers, yes, but Varian was still fairly young. She didn't like leaving children alone, though she was beginning to think it was better then leaving him with them.
"You can't leave children alone. Or at least...well, if I leave Varian alone at home, he won't be there when I come back. He'll probably be out somewhere, and that isn't safe for a child."
Varian gave a little wave to Dessa as she entered, but seemed to be enjoying the argument. It wasn't often he got to see his guardian put on the defensive...though the comment about it not being safe made him bristle.
"Like anyone would bother me." He turned up his nose at the idea, very secure in his belief that no matter what, people would not bother him unless he wanted them to. And of course, he denied all evidence to the contrary.

Zaniel agreed wtih Varian, and nodded his head at the boy's comment. If you didn't want people to bother you, they didn't. See? No one bothered Zaniel, and he liked it this way.
Standing there with a slight frown, Dessa nodded. With the role of appeasing an overwrought, slightly emotionally problem. (She still didn't get it. What was the difference between a child and a teenager? Just age and experience.)
"How long?" she asked, looking down at Varian. "We can show you around, talk" she shrugged.
What were you supposed to do with children?

Aletea just gave a quiet sigh of relief at hearing the woman agree to watch him. Even if she had her doubts, well...maybe they were better then they seemed. "I should only be an hour or two, not too long."
After waiting a few more moments to make certain everything was alright, and recieving a scornful raised eyebrow from Varian, she waved and left with a 'thank you.'
The little blonde turned his gaze to Dessa and Zaniel then, an amused smirk on his face as he explained.
"She thinks I'll steal all her money and go shopping."
