The best use is.. hitting people. =3
When I was at my friend's school visiting with them, we used flags to hit the little ceiling tile things out of place. I can't remember why we did it... or if we even had a reason at all. ...the same person likes to play with the end of their rifle in a.. pervy.. way. There's someone else, I don't remember who, that like.. stradles the flag poles and runs around like they're on a horse. XP

One of my favorite things to use a flag for is a blanket. Yeah, its thin, but amazingly, it insulates body heat very well 3nodding . I also know some people who have used rifles as pillows @.@. But I've used my rifle and sabre for props in many skits, class projects, Halloween costumes, show and tell thingies, and of course, whacking a band kid or two when they get too close to me in the drill twisted

My sabre is the perfect finish to my Phantom of the Opera halloween costume =3
Flags make awesome blankets/windbrakers. Also pretty good limbo poles, and impromptu doors if you need to change.
My rifle is generally what I use to hit people. I also used it as a balance beam once O.o

I, too, hit people with my rifle (like my siblings when they mess me up while I'm practicing).
There are men working at my school right now for our crappy ventilation system, and we gave ourselves permission during mini-camp to beat them with our rifles if they looked at us creepy. Fortunately for them, they had enough sense not to try anything on the girls who chuck big pieces of wood into the air.
I've used my sabre for English class when we had to act out Shakespearean plays (we got extra credit for props).
Scaring young and annoying children is a good use for a rifle when they don't know it's not real. xd

[[Agh! I can't stand that. I WRITE my name on the tag on the silk. I love my gold pole and silk blue weighted flag. Good thing they can't get mixed up. All the guardies practice flags are bright neon yellow with white poles. =
They're not exactly used to weights yet... xd ]]

?
when my school's main hall still had ceiling tiles, whenever we practiced tosses, ceiling tiles would fall.
xd
we had to straddle the flags like horses and do the lasso motion for 'william tell' in our show last fall.
and did this weird stripper-ish thing. although not as stripper-y as a few years back.
sweatdrop
it really sucked to be in the front. xP

Our instructors made it clear (at least, to me) that equipment is for spinning and nothing else. I think that was after I smacked a girl on our guard with my equipment bag.. Haha. Man, she deserved it.
::EDIT::
Every season, there's a girl that says: "Oh, this'd be a hot prom dress!" (in reference to the silk) Or something to that effect.

Yeah, my flag is pretty much the beating stick i use for when i get angry at my color guard.(haha) It's great for poking people at a distance too. Rifles are good crowd control.

My guard instructor used to have this stereo that we'd use to practice, and sometimes it didn't work so well, so she'd hit it with her flag pole.
I, on th other hand, use my flag to hit verious guard/band members. Hitting the band director is also really fun! heart Never hit the instructor though... she's the awesome one!

Blanket, poncho, and a pillow are the main things I use my flags for.

Artemis Hellfire My guard instructor used to have this stereo that we'd use to practice, and sometimes it didn't work so well, so she'd hit it with her flag pole. we had a stereo like that... the coaches friend was 'sposed to bring the stereo home with her but she left it on the roof of her car and started driving away xd she got our coach got a new stereo for her birthday (a big fancy loud one) and just so I'm not totally off topic, my brother used my flag pole to shut the bathroom window (its one of those winding things where you twist the thing and the window opens) the twisty thing broke so we had to push on it from the outside whee
