You can always do some meditation! I know of one way: If you have a deck of tarot cards, pick out the kings of each suit (they each represent a different element) and meditate on one of them at a time. Feel yourself enter the card, and explore everything pictured in it.
You'll naturally feel more drawn to one of them (at least that's what I think).
Hope I helped! ^^

Another way is to examine your personnality. Although I find this method a tad unreliable, being that it requires yourself to be completely honest to yourself, which most people don't seem to be able to do. Anyways, here are the elements and what they represent: Earth: This is the quarter of strength, stability, courage, slow change, and sometimes cold. Air: This is the quarter of intelligence, changability, and other matters of the mind. Fire: This is the quarter of passion, energy, and light. I have also found it to represent love, sex, freedom, joy, hate, independence, and purity. Water:This is the quarter of emotion, intuition, and 'oneness'. I have also found it good for feeling your connection to the 'All', and to others.
(Please note, that these definitions of the elements was taken from www.glasstemple.com)

It depends. Meditation is a good way. Some people use their sun sign (American zodiac) other's their Chinese Zodiac (which are also associated with elements). Some take tarot suits, choose their favorite Major Arcana Card, and go with that element. Time of year that you are strongest in may also help. There are personality trait of each element as well. That's the way I suggest. Either that or meditation. I have a very good website somewhere with all the traits and such of each element. I'll find it and post it for you.
The general idea is: Earth: Stable, down to earth people. Not adjusting to change easily. Air: Intellegence, Bubbly personality. Fire: Passion, Agression. Active and energetic people. Water. Emotional and intuitive people.

Hmm Earth....earth erodes easily and changes often, but doesn't like it ^.^ heheh i'm earth, but i'm also aquarius. so i'm like rain...i fall through the sky and into the ground ^.^
i kinda just always knew so... not alot of advice from me. Don't feel pressured to align yourself to one element and think you have to stick with it forever!

no...dear god no. People are multifasicted, do what feels most comfortable, and if a spell requires a certain type of elemental energy its easy to focus or meditate on the element to get your own energy in sync for the spell ^.^ though if you are stcuk in you elemental niche after awhil it gets harder to channel/work with difrent elements. for me metal is the hardest >.<

[Ange de la Morte] The general idea is: Earth: Stable, down to earth people. Not adjusting to change easily. Air: Intellegence, Bubbly personality. Fire: Passion, Agression. Active and energetic people. Water. Emotional and intuitive people. Well, now that just confuses me, because I don't adjust to change easily, I deal with it negatively. I think I'm rather bubbly in personality, and energetic. And I can be really emotional. What am I? >.<

well thats a personal thing i guess. it works in manny ways. the best thing about the world is that every thing works. all at once. so yeah, you can't box elements. Earth does resist change, but lets the little things go... i thkn thats what i meant and big things happen more slowly.
