I guess Rammstein's looking at a lawsuit from the man that they based the song Mein Teil off of. Is this true? And what are your thoughts on it.

Yeppers, as far as I know; Meiwes (the cannibal) is also suing for a movie being made about him. I dunno if it'll work to stop it; it didn't work for Karla Homolka. (I'm pretty sure she tried to sue...) Just gimme a sec to dig up some links for you.

Richard mentioned something regarding that in his recent interview with the gauntlet:

"There have been rumours the guy who 'Mein Teil' is about will be suing us. The funny thing is in Germany there is a movie about him. And he went to court and was able to stop the movie. It will be interesting what he may do about us. I don't really get how this is possible. All movies and songs are written about real stories or whatever. How can you sue someone? Just the inspiration came from him. It's weird. I thought in the beginning he couldn't block the movie, but I was reading a couple weeks ago that he did."

But the song is already out, so he can't stop it. biggrin

Yeah, I do wonder what is going to happen to them if he wins. I think its rather pointless, I don't know how Germany's legal system works BUT how long is he going to be in jail? You know in a twisted maybe he wanted Rammstein to make a song about him, but then get a lot of money from them also.

I've heard Meiwes dropped the lawsuit. Maybe I read that on Wikipedia, I'm not sure...but seriously, he's had about five songs written about him. I think most were done by American bands.
