Haha, getting philosophical about foodtime.
What makes something a "treat" to y'all? Is a treat just a snack to you? Is it somehow better than other foods/meals?
To me, a treat is anything good but uncommon. A soda that's rarely in stock, or a restaurant that's too far out of the way to visit often. This is why I see strawberry soda as a treat even though I don't like it as much as sodas that are easier to get.

A treat to me is something that I don't get very often, that I like. Like.... Artichokes, or..... Snickers bars.

I'd have to say that a treat is definitely something that you would love to have all the time, but don't! It makes i soooo much more special to have it once in a while! It doesn't neccessarily have to be sweet though! One of my fave treats is....SUSHI!!!

In my mind, a treat is a delightful thing that is: 1) appealing to the eyes 2) appealing to the palette 3) smells like heaven 4) something one doesn't get to enjoy often 5) might even be a delicacy.
For me, even brussels sprouts are a treat because I love love LOVE them and they're too expensive to buy. They don't have any sugar and they're actually good for me, but it's a treat every time I eat them!

When I buy something completely overpriced but delicious. Like butterscotch or peach fudge for instance, or anything like that. I also see Sushi as a treat even though I eat it a lot, as well as cranberry sparklers, petiti nori snacks, mousse pocky or calpico soda.

"Treat" for me means one of two things: A Hershey's Special Dark chocolate bar, or a 2 liter bottle of Vernor's Ginger Ale!
