i personally sing quite a bit, but i play many instruments by ear. already picked up on the piano, banjo, harmonica, and many other random things...
ive been singing ever since i was a child, but i formally joined a choir that wasnt my scholls or a church's about 10 years ago, and now i help run it as a senior member. i also started conducting my high school chorus and did a world premiere opera in France. i travel quite a bit singing all sorts of music, but mostly classical, opera, jazz, pop, and im starting to swing a little bit into country...
my fav song to sing has to be any sort of disney princess song... i dont know why, but its like a childhood memory thing. i think my biggest vocal inspirations are mandy moore, sarah brightman... u know what, theres just too many. hopefully, ill end up conucting one day!

I'm both: I sing and play the guitar, clarinet and been toying around with piano for years
I've been singing since I was in my car seat, mom would play the radio in the car and I would have my own version of humming along. I've been in chorus since 6th grade ((I am now in 10th)) and I take private lessons every Wednesday.
What I got to thing? I got my wonderful voice. My lowest note is the B directly under the staff, and my highest is the High C Sharp above the staff.
I sing anytype of music. I love singing rock, country can be fun with twangs here and there and Big Band and swing is fun
My favorite song to sing... hm... don't think I have one yet...
I have a few heros: Stevie Nicks, Gwen Steffanie ((in her No Doubt days)), Sherly Manson ((from Garbage))
I sing whenever the hell I feel like it, at school, at home, listening to the radio, in the store, whenever. My family told me that my gift was always singing and I should NEVER let it go.

Been playing for 5 days ((heh... I know... it's sad, but I'm already better then one of my friend's who's been playing for years)) self taught too!
I wanted to learn it for my band because our guitarist ditched us. I was doing my spring cleaning in the basement and WHOA! My aunt's guitar was in the basement.
My favortie song to play right now is that Greenday song... it goes "it's something unpredictable, but in the end is right, I hope you had the time of your life" and Wonderwall by Oasis

Yes, I am in my own band. I love it to pieces, it's called M.A.Y.B.E. ((it stands for Me And You Before Everything)). I write the music and sing, my best friend plays bass, a close friend of mine plays drums and another friend of mine plays guitar chords. It's composed of 2 guys and 2 girls.

how long have you been singing for? Informally, forever. Formally, since my high school choir was established in grade 10.
what got u to sing? No idea. I like music. If I don't have an instrument, I've got to be creative and musical somehow.
what type of music do you sing? Anything I like. Really there are no boundaries, unless I don't like it.
fav song to sing? I don't really have a favorite.
who inspires you? No one. Myself.
where do you sing/with whom? I used to sing with the high school choir and I made the cut with the university choir but I had to quit because it crossed over with my dance classes. Now I sing by myself or in church (not the church choir though).
instrumentalists:
what do you play? Piano, Flute, and a little base and guitar.
for how long? Piano since I was ...er....no idea. Young, forever. Flute since I was...um..9? Base and guitar, in grade 11.
what made you want to learn it? Flute, cause it was easy to carry, I actually wanted to do Clarinet but when they were assigning our instruments, they ran out. crying (I lived in a small town and the company supplying the instruments was from out of town). Oh well, I don't have to by Reeds then. Piano, I didn't have a choice, but I'm glad I know how, even if my first few teachers made me want to cry. Base and guitar, I like how they sound.
what type of music you play? Anything. I prefer jazz or classical though. Something nice and catchy.
fav song to play? No idea really. Maybe 'Misty' by I don't know who.
inspirations? In high school it was my conductor. I didn't want to join jazz at first but he hounded me, till I caved. They needed a piano player badly I guess, since they wanted me.

I've been singing my entire life, but in choirs for 8 years now.
what got u to sing?
I just always sang! biggrin But my cousin dragged me in to the Children's choir at my church. That's where my passion REALLY began to develop.
what type of music do you sing?
I sing anything. My favorite stuff to sing is just anything that really portrays raw emotions.
fav song to sing?
At the current, songs from Wicked. biggrin I LOVE that musical!!!!!
who inspires you?
Anyone who's been through REALLY bad places and still managed to come out on top. The person that sticks out most prominently is Otep Shamaya from the band Otep...but she's not really a singer...more of an orator.
where do you sing/with whom?
So far, I only sing in my schools' Advanced Choir and Choraliers (a very hard to get into class of singing and dancing at my school. I was REALLY lucky and got in my freshman year!! This will be my third year this year. But I aspire one day to be able to get on stage and sing the songs I wrote and inspire someone like I've been inspired.

Instrumentalists:
what do you play? Guitar, synth and laptop.
for how long? Guitar - Since I was 11, Synths - um ... 5 years, I think?, laptop - I've been making music on computers since I was about 13, but I've only gotten into it properly in the last 2 years.
what made you want to learn it? I was bought a guitar when I was 5, but never got around to learning it when I was 11, when I finally discovered music. I didn't so much choose to play the synths, as I was the only one left in my band. The singer wrote and recorded all the parts, but doesn't like sitting whilst singing. The laptop was mostly me just messing about with sounds as a kid, then I started recording my own things, then I started sampling, then I started looping etc ... really, I only started to get into it because of my band, we needed to make things interesting, so I did!
what type of music you play? Mostly it's post-rock, but I also dabble in electronica, hip-hop, punk and pop. I'm trying to get some Tom Waits kinda acoustic experimentation going on too!
fav song to play? I know a few songs for each occassion, mostly I just pick up and instrument and try to practise something of my own. I've been playing My Girlfriends Dead by The Vandals a lot recently, it brings back old memories!
inspirations? Tom Waits, mostly. The music I listen to isn't really reflective of the music I play. For example, whenever I listen to The Knife or The Blood Brothers I usually think to myself "I wanna do THAT! But with Violins!".
in a band/ensemble? A few. The main one is a electronica/post rock group with my flatmate. Then I make electronica of my own, mess around producing hip-hop tracks when I'm bored and started a punk band with my sister.

I needed something to do in the mornings and after school so i joined...it was also an influence of my friend. I got hooked

who inspires you? Different people depending on the style (Patty Lupone, and Ella Fitzgerald are 2 of my tops)
