~ History of Shaolin~ The Shaolin Temples began as Chinese monastaries that taught the teachings of Buddhism. Shaolin in Chinese literally means "Young forest temple." These temples were built in the mounatious regions of China, offering refuge as a place of sanctuary. "Perhaps the most famous name associated with Shaolin is that of Bodhidharma or, in Mandarin, Damo." He was either a Perisan or South Indian monk who traveled to China to spread the teachings of Buddhism. "After entering Shaolin, legend states that Bodhidharma found the monks out of shape from lives spent meditating and they often fell asleep during meditation. The story relates that Bodhidharma meditated facing a wall in a nearby cave for nine years, after which he introduced a regimen of exercises sometimes thought to have been the 18 hands of lohan or the damo muscle changing classic. Eventually these movements gave rise to martial arts. Traditionally, the Shaolin monks developed their martial arts expertise as a defense against aggressors' attacks, as a means to promote health, and as a mental and physical discipline." As Shaolin martial arts expanded, monks started to form their own unique style of kung fu.
"The Shaolin system, including the Cantonese styles, are distinguished by the Five Animals:" -Tiger -Crane -Leopard -Snake -Dragon
"Qigong...is an aspect of Chinese medicine involving the coordination of different breathing patterns with various physical postures and motions of the body. Qigong is mostly taught for health maintenance purposes, but there are also some who teach it as a therapeutic intervention. Various forms of traditional qigong are also widely taught in conjunction with Chinese martial arts, and are especially prevalent in the advanced training of what are known as...internal martial arts. Qigong relies on the traditional Chinese belief that the body has an energy field generated and maintained by the natural respiration of the body, known as qi. Qigong is then...the art of managing the breath to achieve and maintain good health, and especially in the martial arts, to enhance the energy mobilization and stamina of the body in coordination with the physical process of respiration."

~Story~ It is a time of peace for all monks, traveling or staying in temples. Some new strangers have come to the temples, warning the monks of a large bandit group coming over the mountains. The Shaollin monks will need reinforcements to help defend their temple. However, there is talk of "Four elemental Dragons." There are the four basic elements of nature: Water, Wind, Earth, and Fire, and the 'Dragons' are the ones taught in the way of Shaolin who can harness the power of these elements. There are several monks now traveling across the mountains to find these Dragons before it is too late and all the temples of Shaolin are endangered. These Four Dragons, though, are almost unaware of their power, but are distinguished by a Dragon tattoo on their back. The Dragons don't remember how they got their tattoos.
