Hello dear friends. Tomorrow many of us will embark on our yearly journey to Animazement, that weekend away from home where we can be with friends, dress in costumes and buy our weight in anime swag. Not all of us are leaving tomorrow I know, some will leave Friday, and others Saturday maybe even Sunday. I however am leaving tomorrow and I feel it is of the utmost importance that I spread this message before I depart. Heed my words regardless of whether you are a con veteran or this is your first go.
Shower. You may think the most important accessory is your highly styled wig, fancy prop or ridiculously short skirt but it is not. Your most important accessory is the bar of soap you can buy for less than a dollar. And if you forget yours the hotel will provide you with some if you have a room. If you do not have a room it doesn't take much to take a wet soapy paper towel to your pits in the sanctity of a bathroom stall.
Every year people stress this, every year people ignore it. Last year I was in the line for the dealer's room to open on Friday and I was already smelling the dreaded con funk. These people had to have come stinky.
Friends don't let friends smell bad. If you were leaving behind a stench trail bad enough to kill most flowers and small woodland creatures you would want your friends to tell you right? Have the same courtesy for them. Tell then gently or tell them to get their a** in the bathroom and hose off, it's your choice.
Please, think of the rest of us. Soap is your friend.
