Ok I found there is a generic sound in rock. And I think the band to blaim for this is Pearl Jam love the guys but everyone wnats to be and trys to be the NEW Pearl Jam. But you can't blaim them Pearl Jam is an inspiring band it's just I'm sick of it. It seems like Pearl Jam is the new mold for Alt. rock now. Example of bands: Stone Temple Pilots,Creed, and more.(I can't think of any bands cause I don't listen to them but just listen to your local rock radio and you'll know what I mean)

Bands inspire bands. There is nothing you can do to stop that. Husker Du influenced the Pixies one of my favorite bands. Pixies influenced Nirvana one of my most hated bands.

There are odds and evens through it all.

Music is mainly just another take off of someone elses. I haven't heard of any really new bands that I have liked besides ShineDown.

Perhaps the new and uppcomming bands lack their creative intelligence. Which does make the band or musician pointless.

All in favour for a 'music revloution'?

Ya i wish. But you would need some really powerful voice in music. In my band and in my lyrics we want to be very diverse if we made an album it would probaly be extrmely diverse from like ska to metal. Where i'm coming from is I hate being one of those sounds familiar bands I want like who the ******** is that?!!!

Yeah, there are too many bands who do sound alike. I can't wait until some new come out with their own music and doesn't sound like previous bands.

I agree with you on the fact that most bands are influenced by other bands, but i don't think there is a way around it at all. The way I see this is that, most people who play an instrument, and start a band, were influenced to make music by music. So in turn what got them to start playing music became there inspiration when they wrote and played. It might just be my opinion but eh.

Also, I see msot of this kinda of topic discussion based on new bands, and the people don't think that, older bands were influenced by even older bands, and that there music relates to that. This might make some people mad, but i honestly don't think anyone in the world is 100% original in there sound, in the way the play and perform maybe, but there sound is influenced by what they like to listen to, so theres always going to be a hint of what they listen to in what the make and play.

Like 80's rock. My dad was listening to a few bands, and I thought he was listening to only one. It happens.

Well older music is what started the sound. Yeah alot of 80's rock bands sound the same. But it's practicly the same for every era. I bet someone was copying The Kinks..... hopely not but it's defintly possible.

Older music as in how old? Bands and artists like Elvis and The Beatles were most likely inspiried by even older bands, and them even older. So I believe the only truely "original" sounds came from when Music was just started, because then it was up to themselvs to make it, and think it through with no kind of insight or anything.

White Stripes, Tool, Coheed And Cambria, Ensiferum and Alice In Chains do have their own sounds just like older music as in Rush and ZZ Top. As soon as you hear them you know who they are.
I'm not one to really care for The Vines I do think they're new or correct me if I am wrong, do have a certain sound.
Shinedown and Anders Manga have become new listen.

I'd argue with that. In one way or another, all those bands have the sound of someonme they listened to in them. It may not be the same riffs, or beats, or any of that, but theres always going to be traces of another bands sound in new bands. Even bands like the white stripes, who are considered original mainly for the way they play, and Coheed and Cambria is basically only different because of there singer. I'll admist sounds have changed from old rock like The Beatles to new bands classified as rock like Taking Back Sunday and that, but there music is still similar due to the fact of influence. If Taking Back Sunday was influenced by The Who, there music will be based on how The Who's was, only differently written and played.
