Tefu woke up on an uncomfortable rock, and nearly fell off when he tried to stretch out his legs. That was close .. he mumbled to himself. As the half awake lion made his way down the rock, he stretched out a bit more when he had steady footing.
At least he had the common sense to fall asleep near some water. He sat down in front of the small watering hole, and lapsed at it with a paw to make sure it was good before he drank the cool water.

 The black jackal glanced about, her body language that of a very nervous creature. Jani'mwiba tried to comfort herself by having a laugh at her own expense. This was silly, wandering about in the middle of the day in unknown territory. But the Pridelanders she had met so far seemed to be kind creatures, so perhaps she would gain some help in her quest to find...Auri.
It was a quest that was just as silly, if not sillier, than a black jackal wandering in the daylight. But finding another jackal was such a rare occurance in this area. Especially a handsome one...her mind told her, before she dismissed the further silliness.
A short distance ahead, she saw a lion at a watering hole. Perhaps he could help...she thought. Anyway, it wouldn't hurt to try. "Good day, sir!" Jani called out, hoping her previous experiences with Pridelanders would hold true.

Tefu's ears perked up at the sound of a small voice in the distance. Peering over his shoulder it appeared to be a jackal. He lazily smiled with his eyes half closed " Umm, hi there. " he said unsure. Her markings where pretty detailed, as for his were plain and dull. He was always so self-consious about his appearance, which was pretty odd for a male lion. But that didn't stop him from having a good time, most days ..

Jani smiled as she approached the lion, nodding to his greeting. "My name is Jani'mwiba, sir. I was wondering, have you seen a jackal with golden fur who goes by the name Auri?" She blinked a few times, then laughed. "I should probably explain, in case you are like many lions here who have not seen a jackal. Jackals are creatures like me."

He watched the small animal speek to him, she wasn't intimidated at all, which was nice for a change. " I'm sorry, I haven't. " he was unsure of a lion named " Auri ", but he felt bad for the small creature.
" I know what jackals are, I have a friend by the name of Jipujua, maybe you've met him. " jackals where quite the observers, very aware of what was happening.

Jani sighed at the lack of news about Auri. Perhaps she would never see him again after all. Or perhaps time would have her quest complete. Either way, at least this lion seemed friendly enough. Her ears perked at the mention of Jipujua. "I believe I did meet him, quite some time ago. By any chance was he tan with red markings? If so, he wandered past my home once, and Tufani and I shared our kill with him...Tufani being my adopted daughter, y'see."

She matched his description pretty close, so he knew she had met him and wasn't just lieing. " Yes, that would be the one. He thinks he is a firekin at heart, but he is quite the jackal .. " he let out a soft chuckle. At least the jackal was nice though, as she said that she shared with him.
" He really does need to learn to hunt better .. "
Tefu being a hunter and all, it was weird that the jackal wasn't already taught by Tefu .. He had been busy lately though. Well ... sort of, the brown lion moved his tail in a slow motion, having to flick it out every so often.

"Perhaps," Jani said. "I'm never one to let anyone go hungry, though. Unless, of course, the reason they're hungry is that they want to eat me." Jani wasn't familiar with this firekin, but she assumed it must be something lions talked about. It was best to mind her own business when it came to lion discussions.
She paused in thought for a moment. "If you do see Auri, could you tell him that I am looking for him? He should know where to find me."

" Haha, your quite the bright one. " he smiled and chuckled. The young jackal qas quite more impressive then the average. She must be older then most the young imature ones who have been roaming the pridelands as of late.
" Okay, but I doubt I will " he didn't roam around a lot, just enough. So he didn't want her to expect something from him, which he couldn't promise.

"Of course; the world is vast, and one jackal can easily get lost," Jani said. She wasn't expecting much from the lion; after all, she'd been searching for days now and hadn't found him, so someone who hadn't even met him couldn't be expected to find him, now could they?
Jani was indeed an older jackal than most. How much older? Could she even remember? It probably wasn't something she even thought of all that often. And now...the jackal suddenly started laughing. "How silly of me...What is your name, sir?" she asked when she could bring herself to talk. "It's rather strange talking to someone for any length of time without knowing their name."

" That it is, but it's a lot smaller then you think. Really mind boggling actually .. " he chuckled at the thought. Here he was, talking to a jackal which somehow knew Jipujua. If thats not an example of a small world then he didn't know what was.
" My name? My name is Tefu'weza, but I go by Tefu. " he looked at the ground, then stared at the sky. It was growing dim, but he didn't want to sound rude in front of the friendly Jackal.

"A pleasure to meet you, Tefu," the jackal said. And then, as she looked at the sky as well, she realized how late it was getting. "I do hope in this small but large world, we meet again. As for now, I must get back to my home; my adopted daughter will probably be waking up any minute now, and I fear she gets anxious when I'm not around." It was another day without finding Auri, but at least she had managed to meet a new friend.((I figure that's a good place to stop. Thanks for the RP. ^_^))

The jackal had taken the words right out of Tefu's mouth, and a smile stretched across his tan maw. " And a pleasure to meet you Jani. I wish you much luck on your quest for your lion friend. " and with that, he slowly turned away to find a resting spot near. Always the hassle at the end of the day, but it was a way of life ..
