In the spirit of dragons (sorry, I don't exactly mean you dragonspirit! xD), I figured we needed a thread of famous dragons.
Do you have a thing for famous dragons? Puff the Magic Dragon, Spyro, St. George's dragon, Charizard, Norbert, Scylla, Quetzalcoatl, or one of many others? Feel free to post your favorite dragons, stories, pictures, why you love them so much and obsess about them living in your closet! ^_^
P.S. I do not recommend keeping your DTD dragons in your closet, unless you want your clothes/personal possessions charred, in shreds, and possibly coated in marshmallows. ^.~

Dr. Ernest Drake...
I think that's the one book I hate. >< Is that the one that says Wyverns originate in Africa?
Eeeh.
I do recommend "Dragons" by Dr. Karl Shuker. It's a collection of legends and myths about dragons and draconic creatures the world over. I think it's neat because it includes a lot of "near-dragons" like the winged snakes of Egypt, the basilik, the cocatrice, the salamander and the like.

I need to find a copy of that book to see the reasoning on why he claims wyverns originated from Africa. They're Welsh! Well, at least legends specifically using the name "wyvern" originate from that area. Though some legends have them ranging as far as Ethiopia.
Wyverns are my favorite species of dragon, if you couldn't guess. ^^
I've got both DnD books. The Forgotten realms version and the more recent 3.5 release of the "Draconomicon."
So pretteh!
Let's see... I'm also currently enamoured with the Dragon Kings from the "Exalted" universe. Though I play mine more like dragons and less like dinosaurs. I also love the Mokole from Werewolf: the Apocalypse. Were-dragons! <3
Mm... can't forget the Breath of Fire series. Such awesome dragons in that too.
Drakan's a pretty good series too. You get to play as a human and a dragon.
On the subject of games... anybody ever play Drakkengard for the PS2?

Spyro. And Puff the Magic Dragon. My friends nicknamed me Puff the Magic Dragon for having long hair. And being a boy. As for spyro, I own all of his games and he just rocks. He rocks.

I'm surprised nobody has suggested Smaug and the Nazgul yet. After all, they're the dragons of the LotR series. Smaug was also nigh=invincible except for a single patch of missing scales on his shoulder. And the nazgul were just creepy.

I was getting around to mentioning the Nazgul xp
The Nazgul are absoultly awesome 3nodding Seeing as the ringwraiths ride them and the ringwraiths are my fav. characters in both movie and the book. But even if the ringwraiths didn't ride them they'd still be way awesome 'cause I mean they are the Nazgul 3nodding whee

Uh...the Nazgul ARE the Ringwraiths aren't they? For that is what I always thought...
And yes, Smaug is a must. And Fafnir (I believe that was it's name...or maybe that was the name of the hero who slayed it?) which I believe is from Norse mythology.
I used to run a 'Guess that Dragon' contest thing, so I know quite a few. 3nodding
