races and societies
when humankind adapted to the lack of a satelite they split into two differnt 'races', the daywalkers and the nightwalkers. they coexist peacefully, sometimes within the same city, sometimes there are entire cities of just nightwalkers, or just daywalkers. they rarely intermingle.
Nightwalkers- humans that evolved for a purely nocturnal life. they tend to have very pale skin, black hair, and even slightly pointed ears. they can see in the dark and their cities rarely have streetlights or stores that sell light balls. if they come into contact with sunlight they burn horribly, often leaving disfiguring scars.
Daywalkers- humans that evolved for a purely diurnal life. they tend to have dark skin and blond or white hair, and are also taller than their nighttime cousins. they are afraid of the dark having rooms and hallways brightly lit by light balls and tall, wide windows to let the sun in. when sleeping they use a nightlight and if left without a sourse of light for three hours they wither.
the two 'races' can interbreed and the result is called a twilightchild. these children can withstand both day and night until puberty, then they make the choise to join one of the two races. there is a ritual involved in this desision. if they fail to choose by the appointed time then they take on the weekness of both rather than the strength of both, withering in dark and burning in light.
within the differt races are two differnt societies, the Moonborn and the Earthborn. these can belong to either of the two races as the moon was not limited only to night and the Earth is not limited only to day. unlike race, these societies are not hereditary, and a moonborn could be born of two earthborn.
Moonborn- humans that contain within them a spark of the lost Luna. they have a natural magic affinity and are attracted to silver, mirrors and other reflective, silver colored things. one spark can sense another spark so moonborn tend to congregate in groups, going to meetings that could be an equivalent to church. despite being in the void, Luna still waxes and wanes so the time of month a moonborn is born can have an effect on their personality. (see auspices for more details) refferd to by earthborn as 'lunatics'. tend to have grey/silver, or blue eyes.
Earthborn- 'normal' humans. cannot sense another earthborn and can only tell the differnce when one says that they are moon or earthborn. cannot use moon magic, but do have a natural affinity towards earthborn animals. rather than phases their personality might be affected by the season one was born in. equitorial places with no real seasonal differnce don't have such persionality extreams as temperate reagons. refferd to by moonborn as 'terrans', tend to have brown or green eyes.
there are mild prejeduses and distrust between the two societies but nothing to escalate into another war.

character classes
no class means a normal citizen.
Earth Speaker- an earthborn attuned to the rythms of the Earth. can feel the ebb and flo of its energies, sense earthquakes, talk to earthborn animals, and use some earth magic.
Terran Assasin- an earthborn opposed to the moonborn society so much that they take matters into their own hands.
Moon Slayer- a moonborn that kills other moonborn to collect their sparks in the hope that if enough sparks are collected then the moon can be made whole again.
Moon Hunter- a moonborn that believes the same thing as the moon slayer, that by combining enough sparks the moon can be remade, but instead searches for sparks not within people or stealing from moon slayers stashes, or other moon hunters stashes.
Earth Mage- an earthborn that uses strong earth magic.
Moon Mage- a moonborn that uses strong moon magic.
Elemental Mage- can be any society or race, uses elemental magic; water, earth, fire, air.
Fire Mage- actually a religious class. a daywalker that worships the sun and uses solar magic.
Child of Luna- a misnomer because all moonborn are Luna's children. a moonboren that prophesies in 'church'.
if you can think of any other classes then PM me.

flora and fauna
moon creatures and plants
animals and people only have one lunar spark each. plants will be noted with the amount offered.
ash- a silver colored tree; soft wood; reacts to nearby lunar sparks by throwing a shower of five lunar sparks; when killed, provides 500 sparks.
birch- a white skinned tree; hard wood; reacts to nearby sparks by glowing softly in the phase of the person the spark belongs/belonged to; when killed, provides 50 lunar shards
cat, moon- white, grey, or silver fur; when caught in a bright light, eyes glow silver; reacts to nearby sparks by purring loudly; will collect sparks thrown by ash trees and sakura blossoms.
dragyn, moon- 20 feet long, ten feet from ground to head, six feet from ground to shoulder, 40 foot wing span; iridescent, pearl white scales that can change color according to surroundings and mood; has no breathweapon, prefers to hide through illusion/chamoflage rather than fight; favorite food is deer and other hooved creatures (unicorns); collects only sparks, silver, opals, pearls or other white and shiney things for a hoard; can use moon magic and talk to humans.
grass, moon- a light blue color; grows two feet tall if left alone; a slight minty scent/taste; reacts to nearby sparks by growing twice as fast; offers one spark per five blades of grass (avg. 10 sparks per tuft)
herring- small fish that travels in large schols; flashes bright silver if light shines on them; reacts to other sparks by swimming closer.
lantern fish- deep sea fish; waxes and wanes with bio luminescence; eats herrings and other fish and collects their sparks in a small cave.
lunar flower- a white flower that looks like a mix betwen a magnolia, an orchid and a rose; blooms during when a full moon should be regardless of season, spreads seeds during new moon phase; reacts to nearby sparks by giving off a pleasent scent; offers three shards when killed.
mirror weed- a type of seaweed; reflective and seethrough; a favorite food of herring; looks like kelp, tall and wavey; reacts to nearby sparks by waving towards it, sometimes entagling the person or animal; one spark per stalk.
osprey- a bird of prey that eats fish mainly; has dark brown feathers on the top of the wings and back and the rest is white with a black eye bar and black markings under the wings; likes to eat moon rabbits and herring among other fish and collects their sparks in its nest.
phoenix, moon- like the solar phoenix but it's white with blue flame crest and tail; during its life it collects sparks and when it has 99 of them it dies in blue flame adding its spark to the pile, making a phoenix sphere; though made with the same amount of sparks as a regual lunar sphere, it glows blue and contains a phoenix soul within it. (see moon magic) if a pheonix sphere is broken, seperated, or added to other spheres the soul is released and the phoenix regains its spark to start anew; it is otherwise immortal; can speak to humans and use moon magic
rabbit, moon- white, grey, or silver fur; likes to eat moon grass and lunar flowers; collects not just their sparks but any found laying around as from an ash or sakura; when the collection reaches 100 (a sphere) it buries it and starts a new collection.
sakura- also known as the cherry blossom; hard wood tree; blooms every spring on the full moon on the spring equinox; the pink and white petals fall and each one carries a spark, any sparks not collected that day (24 hr period) are reabsorbed into the tree; offers 5000 sparks if killed.
shark, moon- previously known as the great white shark; likes to eat herring and lantern fish among other fish, the sparks settel into its stomach; mate and frenzy during the full moon.
tiger, moon- a.k.a. white siberiean tiger; eats unicorns and moon rabbits among other things; does not collect sparks, leaving them where the animal was eaten; reacts to nearby sparks by acting as if on catnip.
unicorn- a white four hooved creature like a horse or deer; has a three foot horn on its forhead that appears made of ivory or pearl; likes to eat moon grass and lunar flowers as well as sakura blossoms; does not consciously collect sparks but they pass through its system normally; can use mild moon magic.
wolf- eats moon rabbits and other things including lunar flowers; collects sparks in 3 shard piles then never touches them again, maybe covering them in a thin layer of dirt; reacts to nearby sparks by howling.
earth creatures and plants
cat (earth)- an ordinary cat
dragon, earth- 15 feet long, four feet high, wingspan of 5 feet; small wings, so does not fly; breath weapon of acid, range of 20 feet; chews on rocks as well as eating anything smaller than it; the rocks and acid help digest the food since it has a weak jaw and stomach muscles; very tempramental and will not talk to anyone but an earth speaker; collects a hoard of dull stones like garnet, and unpolished gems and copper ore, usually whatever the acid doesn't eat from the rocks it chews on; uses mild earth magic.
dryad- a creature bonded to a tree without a spark; often looks human with tree qualities but can look like anything; cannot move further than 20 feet from its tree unless there is another tree then cannot move 10 feet past that tree unless there is another tree then cannot move five feet past that tree... distances are always halved; can speak to humans but prefers earth speakers.
grass (earth)- ordinary grass
oak- hard wood tree; produces acorns in summer; a tree with a long lifespan and memory; most common tree for dryads to bond to; can be spoken to by earth speakers with an interst in history; acorns can be used in earth magic.
rabbit (earth)- ordinary rabbit
terran creaper- a type of vine; grows quickly to cover a person or beast and then begins to digest it; can be spoken to by an earth speaker.
tiger (earth)- an ordinary tiger
shark (earth)- an ordinary shark
other special creatures
dragon, fire (solar)- 10 feet long, six feet tall, four feet at the shoulder, wingspan of 20 feet; bright red scales, and breathes fire; collects gold and red gems and metals for its hoard; will eat anything smaller than it; can talk to humans but prefers fire mages; can use solar magic.
dragon, ice- like earth dragon, cannot fly; has bluish white scales, prefers cold environments; uses an ice breathweapon; prefers to eat flying creatures or fish; collects white or blue crystals for its hoard, diamonds, blue topaz, saphires; can talk to humans but prefers elemental mages; uses elemental magic (water, air)
grass, fire (solar)- deep red; has a cinnimony scent/taste; grows only in warm environments; if the temperature drops below 10 C the grass bursts into flame until the temperature is higher or the grass is consumed; fire grass burns easily, but long, about 5 min per blade (1 hour per tuft)
gryphon- 10 feet long, five feet high, wingspan of 20 feet; looks like a mix between a bird of prey and a large mammal, often feline; only has a spark if bird part is osprey, or mammal part is moon tiger; seems to be from a diferent plane of existance because they show no alliance towards moon, sun, or earth; they teach elemental mages their art of elemetnal magic; prefers to eat unicorns or birds, does not collect sparks; can speak to humans and use elemental magic (fire, earth, wind, water)
merpeople- people that appear as half fish; some may have a lunar spark; societies are moonborn and waterborn but they have no segregation; they cannot leave the water but can speak in air to other humanoids; can use any magic but fire.
phoenix (solar)- bird with golden feathers and flaming crest and tail; five feet long, 8 foot wingspan, looks almost like a peacock; lives about 100 years then builds a nest of fire grass and ash branches (no sparks) and oak branches, when the nest catches fire the bird is consumed, the fire burns longinto the night but eventually ends; the next morning as soon at the sun rises the bird rises also out of the ashes of its nest; can do solar magic and talk to humans but prefers fire mages.
any creatures/plants not listed here are assumed to be earth based and normal. if you have an idea for other creatures PM me.
sentient creatures like merpeople, dragons, phoenixes and gryphons may be played as characters, but ask me first.

auspices
lunar
notice; although there is no longer a moon hanging above earth, Luna still waxes (gets bigger) and wanes(gets smaller). full moons still happen and so do new moons as well as all in between. it is a 28 day cycle.
new moon(three days)- secretive and suspicious. tend to be mostly nightwalkers but some daywalkers have managed to hide in the light. usually go into occupations like theif, assassin, moon slayer, moon hunter, spy.
crescent moon waxing (four days)- mystics attuned to life. in tune with the spirits of goodwill and joy and listens to the trees talk of the times when luna stood bright in the sky.
waning (four days)- mystics attuned to death. in tune with the spirits of destruction and despare and if they bother to speak to anyone else it is usually about hoe desolate the sky is without the moon there to brighten it up.
usually become moon mages, historians, priests, children of luna.
half moon waxing (three days)- judges focused on light. prefer to see the good in people but are not naieve. they are simply not quick to assume the worst of a situation, rather hearing the whole story before desiding.
waning (three days)- judges focused on dark. assume the worst and will only see the good if the proof is in their favor. despite this biasness they are always just in their desisions and will blame themselves if harm comes to a good person because of their pessimism.
usually become judges, preists. (other?)
gibbous moon (not full, not half) waxing (four days)- artists inspired by happyness. make poems and songs based on lunas beauty and like to dance around the sakura as the blossoms fall. are hopefull of days in the future when Luna will be whole again.
waning (four days)- artists inspired by sadness. makes poems and paintings of their visions of the earth without lunas glow. sometimes make incense out of dried moon grass and burn it as they talk amongst themselves about how harsh the world is now.
usually become artists, dancers, performers, moon mages.
full moon (three days)- warriors of Luna, fierce and free. still practice the old ways of war even though there is no need of it anymore. would rather be seen with a silver sword than an anchient gun, and likes to hunt the elusive unicorn or the dangerous earth dragon. believes that there is honor in a noble death. usually become moon slayers, soldiers, hunters.
solar
four seasons except in places far polar or equitorial.
winter- as Earth gets cold, so do its people. they seem to be uncaring and numb to others problems but everything they see and experience sticks like snow and then crystalizes in ther mind. they feel things in their own way and are rarely passionate enough to make any but another winter understand.
spring- these people seem to always be blossoming with new ideas and cannot be held down by even the thickest layer of doubt. called the rainy season by the more equitorial residents they will pound at you with their ideas untill you give in and try to impliment them or run away. does not exist in far polar reagons.
summer- firey and passionate, can spark the fever in any but the most wintry crowd. their ideas tend to be more grounded than springs if they have any but are better at making springs ideas happen. are loudspoken and will not be silenced, as well as being dry and combustible. disagreeing with a summer will likely get your words blown back in your face.
autumn- softspoken and barely noticeable yet you'd miss them if they wern't there. more emotional than winters but quieter than summers, autumn people can somehow communicate with them both without igniting summers fire or cracking winters ice. the only ones they seem to disagree with are springs with their constant need for newness. there's nothing wrong with being old fashioned. after all, it's worked for years. does not exist in equitorial or far polar reagons.

magic
moon magic
to use moon magic one must have a lunar spark within them. to strengthen moon magic one can use other sparks, shards or even spheres. when bare sparks get close they fuse into other shapes like shards and spheres. see below;
one spark- mild moon magic; looks like a shiney grain of sand, glows brighter to moonborn eyes.
one shard=ten sparks- medium moon magic; about half inch long, like clear crystal, glows to moonborn eyes
one sphere=ten shards=one hundred sparks- strong moon magic; about an inch in diameter, glows according to the phase of the moon to moonborn, otherwise looks like a clear crystal ball.
more than one sphere=a larger sphere; ten spheres together can make a lunar ball which can be used like a scrying tool to see other sparks and what they are doing; very hard to get because they are made of 1000 sparks.
Mild illusion- cast a simple illusion of yourself doing something. this image is projected over yourself so you can do one thing and make it look like you're doing another. has no tangebility, or sound.
reflection- like illusion but casts the image onto a reflective surface like a mirror, still water, glass etc. can also look like you have no reflection.
sparkle- makes you glow slightly in your aupex. can be used as a beacon to other sparks as a warning or signal for a meeting. new moons glow grey while the others are silver/grey or just silver.
Medium projection- like illusion but casts the image beside yourself or up to fifty feet away.
chameleon- projects the image of the environment behind you to your front so it appears that you have vanished.
moonbeam- like sparkle but you glow brighter and can direct a portion of the light in a certain direction.
Strong mirage- like projection but it can be of any object.
strengthen image- added to illusion or projection to make it more solid and throw sound. no scent though.
Lunas call- invisible to all but moonborn, works like moonbeam. also includes Lunas song, a soft melody that only moonborn can understand.
lunar alchemy imbuing an object with lunar energy so that it can do moon magic and the user doesn't have to have a spark. by putting a spark, shard or sphere into and object and focusing energy into it the object is now a magical item.
earth magic
requires years of study to learn how to do. cannot be learned by moonborn.
mild (1 to 5 years) Earth Sense- sense plants and animals, sense rock formations and ore deposits.
Animal Bond- you learn how to bond yourself to an animal and how to bond others. you can talk to animals bonded to you, but no others. can only bond up to three non-sentient/non-plant creatures
