Characteristics

The city of Midgar was comprised of two principal components: an elevated, circular plate supported by both a central pillar and a system of smaller columns, as well as a network of slums beneath the plate. The upper plate was essentially the "true" Midgar, containing office buildings and similar complexes, as well as theatres, bars and various residences. The plate itself was divided into eight sectors, with each sector punctuated by two walls and a mako reactor. The city's prosperity was due to the abundance of Mako Energy in the vicinity, and the reactor complex meant that there were with few exceptions no vegetation within the city or in close proximity to it. A commuter railway system carried workers to and from the slums, and security measures were implemented throughout the city. The Shin-Ra Company's massive headquarters was located in the middle of the upper plate, and served as the tallest structure in the city. The upper plate remained incomplete for the entirety of its history; neither Sector 6 nor any outer sectors were ever completed, nor were they intended to be after the destruction of Sector 7. A network of maintenance platforms were suspended beneath the plate.

In the sections below the plate lived the destitute citizens in their slum dwellings. The majority of the buildings there were made of collected scrap shaped into dwellings; few of the buildings displayed any thorough architectural planning. There were, however, scattered buildings that were presumably left behind from before the plate's construction. The slums beneath Sector 6, however, were comparatively wealthy, possessing bars, clubs and the mansion of famous slum dilettante, Don Corneo. The slums as a whole were strewn with strange wreckage, including pillars of Greco-roman design, and components of a dismembered mecha.

News in the city of Midgar was covered by the official Shin-ra news service, the SIN. The actual dimensions of the city are unknown. However a 1/10000 scale wireframe model of the city would fit on a medium-to-large monitor.

Sector 5 Slums

Home of Aerith Gainsborough and her step mother, Elmyra. The nearby church tended by Aerith was the only place in Midgar aside from Aerith's home to feature flowers.[14] The church was damaged after Cloud Strife fell from the Number 5 Reactor and crashed through its roof. Fortunately the flowers broke his fall.

Sector 6 Slums

The Sector 6 Slums were a broken-down passageway between Sectors 5 and 7. It housed an old playground severely damaged when Sector 7 collapsed that Aerith once liked to visit, as well as the Wall Market area.

Wall Market

Wall Market was the largest and most populated area of Sector 6, and also a de facto red light district. Several shops, inns, and restaurants were located here, along with the famous Honeybee Inn and Don Corneo's Mansion.

Sector 7 Slums

In the Sector 7 Slums, AVALANCHE resided in a bar run by Tifa Lockhart that she called "7th Heaven." Sector 7 is eventually destroyed by the Shin-Ra when they destroy the pillar that supported its section of the upper plate.

Train Graveyard

The Train Graveyard was a dark and dangerous area of scrapped trains resembling a maze inside Sector 7. The player must shunt two locomotives in order to progress.

Shin-Ra headquarters

The Shin-Ra Company's headquarters, Sector 0, is the main base of operations for Shin-Ra. All Shin-Ra executives work here and much of Shin-Ra's technology is developed here. It is located in the center of the city, and has 70 floors. Floors 60 and above require key cards to gain access. The 70th floor is where the president's office is located.

Other:

Midgar (ミッドガル, Middogaru?): The largest and most industrialized city in the world, where both Shin-Ra and the second incarnation of AVALANCHE are based. It sits in the middle of a large plain on the eastern continent. The area around the city has become distorted and polluted as a result of the use of mako reactors. The city is divided into eight numbered sectors. Each sector has two areas: one at ground level and elevated section a plate fifty meters above ground. The upper plate is supported by a main column in the center of the city and an additional support column located in each sector.[1] The upper city is primarily home to upper class citizens, while the lower portions consist of slums and lower class settlements. The lower class part of the city is also home to seedier establishments such as a brothel. The city is powered by eight mako reactors, one in each sector. There also appears to be a built-up ring outside the main perimiter of the city.

((RUFUS!!! TSENG!!! Im afraid of the dark?))

Tifa's eyes widened as she felt Yuna grab her arm, it wasn't very long after the halls were crimson in coloring, just as the bloodshed that happened down the corridor.
"Looks like were going to have to find some stairs then."
She said continuing down the hall, yet Tifa stopped her eyes focusing on something that Yuna saw as well.
"What this time..."
She moaned her fists clentching.

Valame stood there for only a moment as a cool tingling sensation crossed over her body, similar to that you get when you are in a ghosts presence.
"Beloved..."
She whispered in a soft tone, her frail form turned around, her eyes alit with joy as she gazed upon the one she has sought so long after, his beauty...was enough to bring a true smile to her lips.
"It has been so long.."
Valame extended a hand to him, but just as she did a searing pain encased her body, causing her to fall to the ground, tremoring in convulsions of agony.
"UGHN..."
What is going on..
Her mind wandered, her body felt as if it was alit with flames, charring from the inside out.

Aerith couldn't help but giggle at his comment, she was a bit old for a band-aid, though his concern made it all worth while.
"Yes I can run, its just a scratch."
She said smiling gently, brushing off some dirt from the white laboratory garb she had drapped over her slender body.
"Though the band-aid does sound rather appealing right now."
She giggled a bit more as she continued to follow Zack, he was right it wasn't that far to Midgar...and it was good to have him back.

(( XD! I THOUGHT SO! ))
Yuna held her guns tightly and swallowed not wanting to know.
"Maybe...whatever it is...won't see us?" She said in a trembeling voice and stayed close to Tifa.

Tifa, was like an older sister to Yuna, she really had been taking care of her so far. But there was no way Yuna was going to let Tifa fight this alone. But a different feeling came over herself, she just started to realized it. The Turks to her were like....Family. Was she allowed to use that word? Well it was the only thing that was coming to mind as they progressed slowly down the hallway. God I don't want to die...

[XDDD]

Zack grinned, looking back at Aerith. "Alright, then... Let's go! We should probably hang out at Tifa's bar...well, Tifa's Seventh Heaven...or..." He frowned then, stopping their walking for a moment. "...I don't really know who's it is now. Since Tifa is with the Turks...and Tifa's bar is part of AVALANCHE..." He shrugged his shoulders and then began to run.

"If you need me to carry you, just say so!" he said, laughing.

[Wha? Wazzdis bout zee dark? I LIKE CHICKEN!]

Sephiroth was silent as Valame moved forward, but as she fell Sephiroth was forward in an instant, holding her up from pitching forward into the sticky mess that he was nearly kneeling in. One strong hand gripped her wrist and his other arm was around her waist as he stood up, supporting her upon his stable form.

His musical and deep voice rolled off his tongue, the first words to be spoken upon his rebirth, once more.

"Not as long as you would all think." And he lifted his gaze up to the steaming carcass and the two women in the same corridor. His green eyes blazed with a quiet and overpowering superiority. He knew the words would be audible to the two. There was no way a voice that sounded stronger than the ocean's roars could be left unheard.

Tifa stepped forward, she could sense Yuna was uneasy about the situation.
"We'll be okay."
She whispered still peering down the corridor at whatever was near the end, though a familiar...haunting voice caught her ears she turned around only to see him standing there.
"Sephiroth..Yuna we need to go now."
Tifa would rather take her chances with whatever was at the end of the hall, and so she darted off toward the figure.

Aerith quickly set foot after Zack, it felt so odd to be running once more, to feel her honey brown hair writh about her body in the wind...to be alive. Yet she enjoyed it all in the same.
"Do you even know where that is? Sector Seven was destroyed years back by the Turks."
And that brought another question to Aerith's mind.
"Why is Tifa a Turk?"

Valame's body continued to convulse as Sephiroth supported her upon his own frame. Her eyes that were the same color as his own seemed to flicker back and forth between her natural frosted grey, to the alluring piercing green.
"Ughn..My..body feels..."
Her words were cut short as her back arched in pain, her fingers locking and her eyes rolling back into her skull.

"Yeah..." Yuna gulped and nodded.
She tried shaking off her fear, but that voice just sounded so...haunting. A shiver ran down her spine and the young turk followed Tifa down the hallway.

This was a now or never situation. There was about 13 minutes or so now, and they weren't going to get out by discussing about what in the hell was down in the hall. She only hoped she would get out of this alive so she could see him again. A faint smile came to her face.

Silent silvered eyes showed no sympathy for the woman in his arms as she convulsed and the changes in her body racked her with various tremblings and contortions. In his mind he understood what was happening with a calmness that betrayed his superior intelligence, the ability to know regardless of how small an amount of information was presented him.

"Will you die now, Valame? Taking from me what is mine solely, attempting to mimic the man who could not even make it into SOLDIER and seal away myself in you?" His voice echoed gentle and somehow unfeeling, steadying the SOLDIER 1st regardless of how he felt. There was something in him that would not allow him to return to his emotions just yet. He would not allow himself to feel pity for the woman who had seen him as something to be used, regardless of in what way.

"Did you honestly believe it would not be painful?" And his eyes glinted with an underlying flame of pale and deadly green.

"Uhh..." Actually, no. Zack didn't know where the bar was now. But...

"We'll find it," he said, grinning. The gates of Midgar were right there. Just a bit farther. "And hopefully we'll get a warm welcome!"

Thoughts continued rushing. Where was his Buster Sword now? Didn't matter... He'd just buy another one. Somewhere... Maybe he'd get a chance to steal one from Shin-Ra? Or maybe Cloud had a similar one.

Huh.

He didn't know, really. And these thoughts were only aggravating him.

"Oh, hey, maybe...do you want to go to your mom's?" he asked, stopping in front of the great gate. He pushed open the small door that went through, and then stepped inside, still holding onto Aerith's hand.

(What the hell is down here anyway?? Another monster?)

Tifa continued, her body was now moving at a full sprint. The hall was dimly lit as her eyes squinted, though the stairwell was in site...maybe ten feet behind the creature that seemed to reamain an eluding mystery.
"Yuna take the right, i'll get the left."
And with that Tifa dashed toward the right leaping from the ground she kicked her foot into the wall, throwing her body then to the left in a swift fluid motion, seemingly similar to a dance between partners.

Valame's body continued to convulse for only mere seconds later, her throat was seeminly alit in flames as she attempted to gasp, choking and coughing on air, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. Her eyes had finally relaxed to their normal positioning as the piercing green slowly faded from them returning to their normal frosted grey. Her slender figure struggled slightly as she managed to push herself from his arms.
So cold...his emotions, seem like ice..he was never that way..or was I too blind to see it.
Her thoughts were too much, her eyes welled slightly with tears as she managed to catch her balance before hitting the puddle of blood beneath her.
"The only pain I feel now...is none of your concern."
She spat toward him, the feelings they shared so long ago...were they nothing to him? Did they mean nothing now? Just a lost hope, in a darkened void.
Valame reached behind her as she drew the magnificant Masamune letting fall to the man before her's feet.

Aerith smiled a bit as she came to a stride, sliding in the Midgar gate behind Zack.
"Mother...it has been so long, I do hope she is alright."
She said in a rather excited coo of emotion, at least they knew where her mother lived.
Aerith nodded slightly in thanks as she then begain to lead Zack toward her home.

Zack grinned. "Hey, hey, I remember where you lived... I used to visit you whenever I could, remember?" he said, laughing. "Sector five!" He tightened his grip on Aerith's hand, and then loosened it again. He was glad for this. Another escape, probably even better than going to the bar.

In fact, most certainly.

He was also rather liking the idea of going to the church later...

(I have to go!)
PostPosted: Sun Jun 11, 2006 8:23 pm

"Hmmm? Oh yeah! The Right! Yeah got it!" She shook the thought of Cloud off her mind and reminded herself to call him later.
She took off running towards the right side of the hall.

She held her guns out ready to fire in case anything were to happen. Suddenly when the figure came into view Yuna stopped dead in her tracks. Sephiroth. No...it couldn't be? Alive!?!? What the hell!?!? But then she noticed who he was holding. It was Valame? But she seemed as if she was in pain. Did he do this to her? Yuna blinked and scooted back trying not to draw too much attention.

[Awe! Byebyes Tifa!]

Sephiroth frowned softly at the crude handling of the Masamune, but his green eyes did not follow the magnificent sword's decent into the filthy blood and grime under his own feet. He moved forward with that silent and quick grace that made him seem almost unreachable though in a moment the strong gloved hands were moving down to reach into the filth and retrieving his elegant sword that shone more sickly a green than his emerald eyes, nearly hidden behind the sheltering silver hair that flowed forward over his shoulders.

"Very well then, Valame," he said with now tangible cold seeping throughout his voice as he lifted his sword delicately from the ooze, eyes roaming over its length before they in turn rested upon the cool clouded grey of her eyes. "If that is in fact the way you feel, then remove yourself from my sight. I have no time to deal with things like your unchecked emotions."

With that the man swung his sword in a large arch, sweeping it forward and splattering the already disgusting floor with more of the glowing blood and muck. Then Sephiroth swept past the woman and towards Yuna and Tifa, paying them no more heed than he would the dirty walls of the corridor as he moved up the stairs.
