Junon (ジュノン, Junon?): The second-largest city in the game, Junon sits along the west coast of the eastern continent. The surrounding terrain and ocean have become polluted due to continued operation of the city's undersea mako reactor. As a result, the fish in the adjacent sea have died out and the original village of Junon (located under the upper city's airport) is inhabited mostly by poorer citizens. The upper city is the location of Shinra's military headquarters, featuring an airport, submarine docks, and a powerful artillery cannon known as the the Junon Cannon.

Valame's bike roared to a stop in the streets of lower Junon, she was here in the place that could perhaps clear her mind, maybe even the lingering emotions that still hung, like a shadowed curtain over her heart. Valame stepped off the bike and leaned it against a nearby house side, stopping short in front of the door her hand hovered hesitently over the handle.
Home...
Such a drawn out word. More like haven...
Valame gently gripped the handle as she pushed her way inside the house. Dim lighting showed the halls of dust, the emptiness...just like everything else, she had nothing left. Perhaps her family moved, or died, she had lost contact with them for some time there after her search for Sephiroth had begun, That was nearly 3 years ago.
A small sigh escaped the woman's parted lips as she stepped inside. The dust rising from the ground with every step she took, and there across the room a small glint of light caught her eye. With her strides quick and evenly paced Valame stopped before a small cot bed, a few things riddled this bed...all of which were hers.
It seemed as if her parents had tossed away everything that had to do with her, here in this house..
Her frosted grey eyes glinted slightly as they began to well with tears. Kneeling down she wrapped her hand around an artifact of sorts...whatever it was it was wrapped in rags. Carefully she unwrapped the wrags.
Could it be?
She wondered silently to herself, and alas her eyes were met with the fondest of weaponry she had ever wielded, a heirloom that had been passed down through generations time over and over.

Vindication

"Vindication.."
She whispered gently lifting the blade into view, it still looked as beautiful as ever. Gently she whipped the blade around her wrist a few times over before sliding it back into its sheith. Valame had a few things to mull over.
She took a seat on the dust ridden cot as she let her head fall into her hands.

Valame stood up as she clutched the blade tightly in her hands her grey orbs gazing downupon it as she did so.
Why do these things happen..
She muttered to herself as she slowly made way for the door.
Sephiroth..
Valame decided for now the best course of action would be to return to Midgar...perhaps seek vengence on the one who she believe changed her beloved....

Arina walked around the harbor boredly, nearly being run over by a small child heading for the beach, saying something about a dolphin. The mission had technically been success, but she hadn't found anything useful out at all. "That was a bust..."She mumbled, looking around once more. The houses in the lower city were soot-blackened, and the inhabitants still seemed misirable...but somehow she still liked it better down here than up on that almost medical-seeming platform just one elevator ride away. The people just seemed more real than the soldiers up there...She had never any special love for the SOLDIER group, or pretty much anyone else up there..."I guess I should report in..."Arina said to no one in particular, as she pulled her cellphone from her pocket, flipped it open, and dialed Tseng's phone number.

After the conversation, Arina hung up her phone, and slipped it back into her pocket. "That figures..."she said, glad to be leaving Junon, but she didn't really want to go back to Midgar just yet either....Oh well, an order was an order. She glanced around the city just once more, before leaving to head back to the hustle and bustle of an even larger city, with even larger destitute areas.

While the Turks were busy recollecting themselves, Junon Harbor sat quiet...Mostly. The occasional riffraff still loitered the streets as darkness descended upon them, looking for people to rob or whatever pleasures suited them at the time. Unfortunately for a pair of them, the target they had chosen wasn't as easy as they had thought.

A giggle. That’s what they heard last in life. Midori stepped over the corpses still clutching their knives in their severed hands, and picked up the soft brown bear. The bastards had gotten their filthy blood on him.

“Poor Teddy…They should be punished some more, should they not?” after an instant the sharp gleaming silver blade was graced with a fresh splatter of crimson as it was pulled across the neck of the first dead body…That fool of a boy though he could hurt her and Teddy…Why, he nearly ripped her furry friend’s arm off... The second one, she left his head connected to his neck; he had never laid a finger on the bear.

Her tongue poked out from between her lips, just for a moment, to lick clean the crimson on her scythe. Her sweet face soured, and she spit the liquid back out onto the body. “You even taste like s**t.” From now on the low-life scum that wandered Junon would need to be more careful...They were her favorites…Why did they call Teddy a toy? He wasn’t something to be chopped up…He was a friend…They were her toys.

She wiped the silvery edge clean on the decapitated man’s shirt, and then folded it closed, before opening the zipper on Teddy’s back and slipping it inside. She walked back to the temporary base, a crimson splatter decorating her clothes; she would be disciplined for not having been cleaner about her play, but at least the others would clean Teddy for her...There weren't many of them here yet...But it didn't especially matter.

Perhaps unbeknownst to her youthful, blood-marred kinsman, a second figure haunted her steps. Not with the intention of hiding her presence, nor even of making her path and self unexistant to the child in the least. If Midori was so caught up in play that she did not notice Touscon following leisurely behind her, then she would not bother to alert her as to her presense.

Many untidy squabbles had resulted from irritating her kin in the slightest of ways. Touscon had only worked a few times previously with Midori, and she knew the child girl's temper could twist and revolt against any person, whether foe or friend.

But... foe and friend were hardly different to them. The strongest survived. The most skilled outwitted the others, but never their faceless masters. That would result in... hasty extermination. They were programmed to die at the faintest whim of their masters, and the pulsating collars about their necks were a constant reminder of that.

Still, when the plain entrance was reached and Midori slipped inside, Touscon sped up and stepped inside the normal set-up. A bar. Like any other. Surely, no one would know. No one could possibly find it. The hidden entrance to their underground tavern. Only those with collars as theirs, and their masters, could enter there.

So it was that Touscon caught up with Midori, ignoring the eerie emptiness of the bar with only a few patrons straggling behind the others that had already dispersed. Her eyes flashed darkly and she snarled at the thought of the people here. They stank. They were noisy. But they could not eliminate those so close to the truth. No... their masters would not allow that at all.

"You made a mess." The dank comment was whispered low enough so that Midori only could hear, as Touscon followed her down into the basement.

The girl's eyes rolled to the side, and then up to look at the other. She had known Touscon was there the entire time, but had not really cared to wait for her to catch up. "He should not have touched Teddy," said the child, turning her head to the same direction as her eyes after a moment or two.

There was a brief pause in the conversation, before Midori held the fuzzy brown bear up for her colleague to see; a small trail of that fools blood was splashed across the front. "Clean him for me?" It was somewhere between a request and what would more than likely have been a demand of her true childish nature.

While she was trained to excel everywhere she could, things like cleaning her bear had not come up. Therefore, for such tasks she relied on others. These were the few times she allowed anyone else contact with the brown fluffy toy.

Touscon's dark eyes stared back at her younger kinsman, and they blinked once in a manner akin to acknowledgement when Midori plainly stated her reason for acting so. The taller woman shrugged it off with a casual sentiment. "Sounds reasonable enough. But next time, keep further from the base," she half-growled.

Such were the ways of their kind. A snarl was as much a vicious threat as it was a temperate greeting. Most of them, even Midori, could hold their own against one another. Most never got too close to the others. They were solitary sometimes, pack hunters when the need arose. Otherwise, they were all as distant in awakening as they were close when curled in heavy, untainted slumber. Theirs was a dreamless sleep.

Touscon scowled at the proffered plush, but took him from her nonetheless before Midori could change her mind. This way, she would not have to worry about the little monster turning on her and slashing open her back with that grotesque scythe of hers.

She did not even wait, knowing the young female would follow, slinking sullenly into a bathroom, taking what soap she could and--cringing at the disgusting feel and smell both of it--began to soak and scrub the bear.

"In return, you get to turn up all the heaters down here," she growled. "No questions, or I'll leave Teddy to you to clean."

Midori followed almost in the footsteps of Touscon, her eyes always on some patch of brown fur even while the other held it. That bear never left her sight, save when she was asleep with eyes closed unseeing to anything at all. One might have thought that was the perfect time to steal him away from her...Unfortunately, that was completely the opposite. Waking the child from such a state often resulted in one very quickly snapped neck, regardless of who it was that dared to touch Teddy.

As for the scolding she got for playing so close to their location, she nodded in simple reply. She had known better than to hunt so close, but...After laying hands on her and the bear, there was certainly no excuse for allowing them to survive even until the next dawn.

When the terms of the plush's cleaning had been laid out, Midori simply responded by saying, "Done." Of course, she held her position for the moment, eyes still locked on that same furry foot. She would work the heaters after he was returned to her.

Strange, almost... How even though they were the same in reformation after their individual births, they was no familial feelings between any of them. No sense of a bond stronger than the occassional need for each other in order to accomplish any task laid before them. These tasks, whatever they might be, were the only things that could possibly bring them together.

They were carnal enough that mating would be plausible to some in certain situations. But it was all physical. And, for whatever reason, it was impossible for them to breed. But there was no emotion in it. They were not human in that sense. There was no desire for closure, for relationships. Success in their masters' eyes was the reason for life. If they failed to carry such a task out, it was as severe a blow to them as death.

And indeed, many of those who had faltered and failed had never been seen again. They did not miss each other. They were there to do their duty. And their duty now, was to await the coming of... a couple of their masters. Until they arrived here, their orders were to keep the place secure, secret, and to get to know the lay of the land. These would soon be the breeding grounds for a revolution. They would see to it that nothing interfered with that plan.

Their masters willed so. And they would not disappoint them.

Touscon finally shut off the tap, wringing out the bear gently enough so that it did not tear, and handed it back to Midori. "Get to it, and then let's get downstairs and nest," she stated blandly, moving towards the hidden doorway, after making sure the other door was securely fastened and inaccessable from the outside.

A nod was the chosen response, before Midori checked over the bear once. He was fine, and that disgustingly unworthy blood had been removed entirely. Perfect. She gave the plush a quick squeeze, and then turned leaving the room to go and make quick work of the heaters.

She located each of them as soon as she had turned around, deciding in advance in which order to open them. The child made for the first one, clutching her bear in a way that really did give away her age for once. It creaked open loudly, making a noise that would send shivers down the spine of most who heard its awful shriek. It didn't bother Midori in the least.

The first done, she turned to the second, then third, and so forth until all the vents were open as far as they could, so that the warm air could make its way to all corners of the location; from the ceiling of the bar, down to the very lowest depths of their real base.

Midori stood, brushing the dust off her outfit despite the fact the clothes were far from clean even without it, and then went to confirm that she had finished. She found Touscon quickly, and simply said, "There. They are all open."

The shriek of the wheels had not disturbed the older woman in the least, and after their piercing cries had hushed and the hissing flush of heat poured through the old pipes and sank below the surface, she was satisfied with the job. They would not freeze to death at least, in the rooms below the basement.

"I'm tired," she murmured, almost snarled in irritation, in response. With that she opened the hidden door and waited for its thick mass to push aside, revealing a steep, dank staircase leading even further below the ground. She didn't need to tell Midori to go before her. It should have been apparent, so after the young girl moved past Touscon and trodded downstairs, Touscon stepped in after her and pushed the heavy door shut.

Then she trotted down the stairs after Midori, knowing neither of them would trip, even though there was hardly any lighting down this long flight of stairs until they reached the bottom, where only a single reddened bulb glimmered dully. There was little light here by choice of its current inhabitants. The crude lights of outside were irritating enough. Here those like them slumbered in almost pure darkness, in cubicles large enough for two or three of their adult kinsmen.

It was warm and stuffy, so far down below. They kept all the heaters channelled down here during the evening hours to make sure it was that way. This was the conditions in which they slept best. Where noise and light could not breach their nesting places. "Come, you'll sleep with me tonight, Midori." It wasn't out of kindness or affection. It was merely habitual to some of them. They preferred to sleep with others of their kind. There was a sense of security they got from the habit.

Touscon slid off only her boots before crawling into the cubicle, which was cut seven feet deep, four feet tall, and about a foot off the ground, bedded completely on the inside with blankets and pillows. Such comfort may have seem unusual. But plenty of their prey would have had no further use for such conforts as these. Besides, they were the best tools their masters had at their disposal. No expense was spared them.

And so the woman settled in to sleep, curling up close to the young Midori when she did indeed choose to join her, underneath a thick blanketing, already stifled by the pleasant heat.

The murderous child gave a small almost smile as the door opened. She too was starting to feel the wear of the day, sleep creeping up on her and ready to pounce like some beast such as they were. Down, down, down the dark stairway they went...Midori sighed. These settings were much more conducive to her tastes. Dark and warm were pleasant enough.

The red-haired child had no qualms bunking with the other tonight. She slipped her shoes off, and maneuvered herself into the indent as well, curling up with a great similarity to some form of wolf cub; She pulled her knees in close to her arms, which she always had folded over her chest in an X shape while she slept. Teddy, of course, was tucked inside it under her chin.

Blankets, pillows, Teddy and Touscon all closely surrounding her, the girl was more than content to allow herself to drift off and slowly shut her eyes.

A couple of hours before the dawn would rise upon the deeply slumbering town of Junon, a light suddenly flickered into existance within the stone ceiling of their cavernous enclosure, sending an eerie gleam of pale blue over the red-hued rock of the interior. Immediately after this light came into existance, a soft, mellow note sounded from an area further back in the room, originating from seemingly the only technological device in the entire habitat. The tone echoed hauntingly off the walls, so dull and soft it would be overlooked by any normal human being, and certainly wouldn't wake even the lightest of sleepers as it continued to sound it's muted alarm.

However, their minds were far from those of normal human being's. There's were closer to a well trained canine, taught from the very first day of their reformation to react in a certain manner to this gentle note. Their's were minds programmed specifically to react post-haste to this specific sound with immediate obediance. It cut through all human distractions. Weariness, confusion, illness. All was thrown asunder when this pale sound was murmured in their presence. And their reaction shifted immediately from whatever they were doing, to an undefiant willingness to obey.

So the sound immediately stole from Touscon every last vestige of the deep slumber she had been partaking in, fully awake and alert, and eager to receive the incoming orders. She untangled her arms from around Midori, who would have reacted in similar manner to her, and would soon trail after her older compatriot. Touscon slid ungainly from her nesting cubicle and lunged for the origin of the continuous notes, careless of how the rough, biting ground tore at her bare feet as she moved swiftly. It really was the only technological device in the entire underground habitat: a small speaker and dim screen, placed in the very back of their enclosure on a rusting metal desk.

Touscon depressed the button upon the speaker and listened to the pre-recorded message as it played back for them, knowing that Midori would be at her side within a moment, and would hear every word spoken.

"We've received news of a source," the cracked male voice intoned to them. Touscon's dark eyes flickered with a sullen temper, but she made no move to voice the snarl curling in the back of her throat. A source was usually not to be disposed of, and that would mean a purposeless venture in the middle of the aging night. "However," it continued, and Touscon perked up at the sudden change in sentiment. "If you can manage to squeeze out every last piece of information from the source about the current status of the Shin-Ra Electric Power Company, then you can dispose of him in whatever manner you wish. Your deadline is dawn."

The message ended there, and a slight whirring was heard as the secondary portion of their intructions began to filter up onto the small screen. Touscon's eyes ran over the details, memorizing as she read. 'Stephen Dennings. Employee of Shin-Ra, technological devisions. Male. 5'9". Single. Night shift, ending 4:30AM. Location...'

"We have less than ten minutes to get there, Midori," Touscon growled, glancing to the girl. "Let's go."
