I came in to check Gaia this morning...and just outside the study I hear a strange whirring sound.
My first thought is...."oh crap".
It's the computer.
I turned it off, unhooked it, and slide off the cover. My first thought was, "Is the fan loose?"
My second thought was, "OMG DUST BUNNIES!"
So I grabbed a screwdriver and a swiffer duster pad and set to work.
I took out the fan (which wasn't loose) and cleaned it, and cleaned out the rest of the computer. Thank you swiffer!
I happily reassembled it, thinking "There we go."
I turn it on, and the same odd whir greets me. I gave it a good whack, and it's quieted down for now.
I'm probably gonna have to go and buy a new fan. This one's not that old though, and it's supposed to last 40k hours.
Oh well.
I think it's time to just get a new computer. I'd like to buy a Mac PowerBook, but I know my Dad's just gonna say, "I'm not gonna waste money on that when our old computer works fine and we have another in the house anyway."
Our old computer isn't fine. It requires checkups every other week or so to ensure nothing's coming undone. The other one's a piece of crap.
Com'on pops. Lemme spend my money on a computer for me.
Ever have computer problems? Need a new one? Macs or PCs?

SirHiss Have you considered hitting it with something larger? Maybe I should let it fry... Maybe Daddy'd chip in on a laptop for me...

Ah well... If I don't spend too much on games and stuff, I should be able to afford a macbook by the end of the summer.

I remember I had this one really old monitor. It was ancient. I swear. It looked like a T.V.
It'd make this weird 'nrrrrrrrrr' sound whenever I turned it on. And, the screen was a weird color. Yellow maybe? The frame kept on changing it's size and it got really annoying.
What mostly bugged me, was the the color issue though. I mean, if I went on Gaia, red hair would look like a really deep purple. oO Yeah, good thing I got a new monitor....EXCEPT NOW MY BRANDNEW SKINNY ONE IS BROKEN. T.T
I honestly don't know how. But I have yet to tell my Daddy... >_<

Whenever I turn it on, it says something like "no digital signal" or something like "no analog symbol." I forgot. ANYWAYS, I've been promised a new monitor, but I still have to find the warranty. Grr...stupid monitor...

I used to have my PS2, Gamecube, and tv line all hooked up so that if I wanted to play a game or watch tv, I wouldn't have to go switching wires. Then I had to get a new adapter and my old set up doesn't work.

Looks like my monitor works fine...It's the actual computer that's broken. gonk Even more expensive... I have to replace the video card, and it's only a year old. O_o

O_oThat's why I just want a new computer. Getting a new graphics gard and sound card and ram memory and a new monitor, keyboard, and mouse and speakers would be more expensive than just shelling out for a computer capable of playing Sims 2 and connecting to the interweb. I've almost got enough saved up...

Hm, let's see... *I can't go to the forums or comment on a page without my computer freezing. *It won't let me save stuff on CD's *it won't turn on some times *it sometimes glares at me, I swear it does *it takes FOREVER to open up documents But the reason why I despise this computer... it made 30 Rock Lee /Gai/Naruto pictures disappear. crying

Our new computer kept overheating because it was stuffed with dust...
Anyway, we've also got an ancient computer that I do homework on...spent about 2 hours writing a french assessment, then I couldn't get a floppy disk to work so I could take it to the printer on the good computer...sooo stressful. LOL, but I finally found the good floppy disk.

I need some hardware savvy help.
Or as my msn name says...
A stroke of SH-like genius. Or a hero.

Alright, so I wanted to move something I had on my produo memory stick to my laptop. No problem, it has a memory card thingy built right in.
So, slightly loopy from painkillers, I stick it in without much regard for...well, anything.
Apparently, the card is too small lengthwise (and slightly width wise as well), and it has squestered itself down in there pretty good.
Now, I am unable to get it out.
I have tried the following: -shaking it up and down really hard -bending wire to edge around the memory card and squeegee it out (wire too short it seems; maybe try longer, thinner, stronger wire?) -put clear nail polish remover on piece of thin foam board, stuck it to the card, allowed to dry (I think, couldn't really tell). Came away without much resistance. May try again. -Attempted the previous with rubber cement. Realized I was silly. -Attempted removing back of laptop; can't seem to get card compartment to open.
My current options include: -keep trying with the nail polish. I really think it might work. - Leave it there. It's not really hurting anything, and I have a printer I can use for memory card needs, as soon as I can find the install disk (you seen it anywhere, SH?). - Ask the tech guys at college. Side effect: Feeling retarded. - Take it back to Best Buy and ask customer support. Side effect: Might cost money.
Anyone have an idea or suggestion?
*feels silly*
