Well as driver of a very quick car, there come alot of opportunitys to street race. so far i have not but it has been tempting at times, for example i left a intersection when the lights turned green and i sped up a little on the fast side and a MINIVAN in the other lane blew by me 5 seconds later!
now heres the thing, everyone has been hearing about the street racing laws getting tougher and how everyone who has a suped up car for some reason is automatically a street racer. i havent been pulled over yet and been hassled but ive heard alot about it, where cops pull you over and check to see that you dont have any illegal modifications and hassle you on if you street race or not. How does having a fast car make you a street racer?
that being said, i would also like to bring up that most people who have a modified car are actually less likely to street race. They see a large value in their car especially if they do alot of the work themselves and would hate to see it getting totalled. compare that to a kid with rich parents who buy their kid a 50000$ car and boom theres your problem, and ive seen exactly that happen at my school with my friends, a bunch of us have mustangs or camaro's or something fairly fast, and we dont race, and my one friend gets a brand new volvo and hes talking about he raced a civic and won 20$. theres your street racer material right there
the unfortunate thing is they are targetting the wrong people and the wrong cars and nothing is going to get better, so their just going to keep making the regulations worse and worse till accelerating a tiny bit to fast with someone in the other lane beside you is street racing if you own a fast car, it just isnt fair and their letting the real problem BMW's and Mercedes Benz' get away like they were nothing, when most of them could blow the doors off the average modified car.
what are your thoughts about street racing and the new crackdown on it? have you ever street raced? ever gotten a ticket for anything?

Meh. I can't street race. I feel like I'll kill someone. And yes, I did get a ticket. For underage driving.

Street races are cool. Just as long as they don't get too reckless. And it's true they target the wrong people. In general, most of the street racers are people who has some crappy car that they modified for real cheap (a.k.a. ellegal) or people who are from super rich families taht don't care what happens to their car. Yet, the police seem to let the rich people slide easier. According to this friend of mine, the police fear the rich since they can sue them without a second thought and win (bribary) so they stay away. Unless of course they are really pushing it. And people who are poor gets let of easier because of pity. And sometimes their cars aren't really fast ebough to be too dangerouse. Or are they...?
And no, I've never gotten a ticket.

And no, I've never gotten a ticket. thing is even the crappiest car should be able to do 150km/h+ and the average new car you get today would be 200km/h+, any car is dangerous, you need a good driver to make it safe, and unfortunately theres alot of people who ruin it for others

racing is alot tougher now then when i use to watch my older freinds do it, but im dumb enough to still do it, **not dumb but cant help it** i cant help but race another person that wants to try out their car, i mean i work so hard on my 95 thunderbird and i want to see how it works, i dont race were it would but people into danger but i do race were i could get caught, i cant help it, i raced one guy going 115 down a 45mph road with almost a cop at ever light, that ticket would of been fun, 70mph over the limit, = lisence taken away underage in the car past cervew= ticket atempt of murder (x3 since i had 3 passangers) = jail
that would of been great, but i didnt get caught, i did get a tickte for going 15mph over when i was going home from work..i was like great, i wasnt even racing.. so my idea is that if im going to be caught by the cops for speeding anyways by like 5-10 mph over anyways why not just have fun and not really worry about it.
