The wonderful thing about empathy is, if you have a friend who happens to be empathetic (O_o; wink you can project a sense of well-being and balance out onto your body. =^_^=

Try putting two pissed off empaths in the same room with each other. Especially if those two are my mother and I.
It's like World War III.

I guess Im sort of empathetic... I can sort of read emotions in people. But mostly it happens like this: When some one has a strong emotion (Lets go with sadness) And I'm around them, I start to feel that emotion, and they begin to feel better, happy, almost. So I guess I am an invouluntary emoional leech.. Not so bad, At least its somthing!! mrgreen

I'm not an empath, but a friend of mine is. I am however, her emotional dumping person. When she was pregnant, it was like I was pregnant, she'd get cravings for a certain type of food, and I'd have cravings for that food too.

Although I am very empathetic I also tend to be apathetic. So if I don't give a crap about the person I won't use my empathy to bother figuring out how best to help the person :p

I might be the only one here, but oh. my. gods. do I hate being an empath. I've been able to do the whole "I feel your emotions better than I feel my own" think since I was born and it drives me NUTS! -_- It tends to get me into more trouble than I personally feel it's worth.
I've tried blocking it, stuffing it into the furthest corners of my mind, and basically just ignoring it, and nothing seems to work. Does anyone have a method to use, even just short-term (like during exams when the LAST thing I need is to feel 150 people's worth of stress on top of my own), to make it go away for a little bit?

Try some different types of meditation, amulets/charms, etc?

>> Only the blackest of hearts
I have empathy... however I lack any real emotions and the ability to care about others' emotions on more then a basic level. I can always feel what others are feeling, but I never understand it or care enough about it; so it is not much more then troublesome...
Can feel the purest of love <<

Empathy can be a pain at times but thankfully I know how to control it. I realized that I had empathy around the age of 9 or 10 and have become very good at channeling it and linking/unlinking myself from others' emotions. So, if any of you would like some help with your empathy feel free to pm me ^^

i'm pretty good at controlling mine but when i lose it i have to step out of class from emotion overload. It happened alot when i first got my empathy and my teachers would just let me go. Now though I know whenever a classmate is about to cry evn if their smiling. It kinda sucks though cuz i have a strong urge to help but some of them have friends who cuss me out if i try and comfort them so......
