Sorry for those who may know this already, but I just did some searching and found out what the names of the E.S.s mean.
They are Dinah, Zebulun, Asher, Issachar.
These four are all the names of children of Jacob (asher is actually Aser), and who each (except Dinah) are ancestors of tribes in Israel.
I also found Jacob had a child named Simeon. Does this mean Albedo's mech is an E.S.? What does E.S. stand for anyway?
Any thoughts on how this may be related to anything in the story? Also, please correct me if I'm wrong in any part of the history. I did some quick searches and deduced some of the stuff.

Xenosaga uses names from the Bible many times, like for Canaan and the 12 huge Zohar looking things from Episode 1 that was in the Restricted Area were named after the 12 apostles.
I'm not sure how it relates to the story but Xenosaga does have a lot of things to do with Jesus/God such as in Episode 1 when KOS-MOS was seen on a crucifix and when Shion said "You have no right to play God!" or something like that to Virgil.
I guess Simeon is an E.S., it's not an A.G.W.S.

Yes, Simeon (I could of sworn it was Simon!) is an E.S. If you look, you can clearly see the head design that clearly signifies an E.S, and therefore an Anima relic. The only E.S that does not clearly have this design is the Issachar.
And, yeah, more than likely, E.S means Experimental Series.

Experimental Series. Makes sense.
Ha, I'm definitely not going to argue that Xenosaga doesn't have references. (I like Canaan's name) It was just interesting to me that all the E.S.s were named after a same group. I haven't really seen that anywhere else except for things like Gnosis being named after mythological creatures (i think stemming from the fact they are from the 'imaginary number area') and that Calx and Vive prototypes have attacks all named after mythological women.

well, yes...Albedo's mech is an E.S. And the reason why they're called E.S.s is because they don't use the power source that A.G.W.S. do, they use Vessels of Anima...((like when in Xeno 2 when Canaan and Pellegri were fighting, the Anima reacted to each other)) It's all very simple, A.G.W.S. have their own power supply while E.S.s use Anima and are MUCH stronger! ^^

Or E.S. could mean... Extra Special A.G.W.S.!
But anyway, yeah, it was made official in Xenosaga Episode I that Albedo's mech was no ordinary Anti-Gnosis weaponry system. It had far to many extraordinary capabilities that neither Shion, chaos' or Jr.'s A.G.W.S. could do.
And in Xenosaga Episode II it was confirmed that Albedo possessed E.S. Simeon! heart
btw, nice job on finding out those namesakes, it makes it really interesting.

I predict also, in later episodes that the names like Reuben might appear with the E.S.' Quote: Simeon the individual is mentioned in connection with the journey to Egypt in time of famine This was mentioned in one of my findings so you can see that Albedo is connected with Simeon. Albedo represents the white horse, which also represents famine.

Lacrimosa Ephemerality Albedo represents the white horse, which also represents famine. Wait a second...I thought chaos said that Gaignun represents the black horse, which is famine... Yeah! The white horse (Albedo) represents conquest, the red horse (Rubedo) represents war, the black horse (Nigredo) represents famine, and the pale horse (Citrine) represents Death. You can take a look at the GameFAQs database. You'll have to go look at it yourselves cause...I can get a direct link..oops... sweatdrop

No wait, I thought pale horse was supposed to be famine, not death. o_o I've seen Apocalyptic art like where the horseman on the pale horse is thin and emaciated. If that's death then... o_o Well...I'm dead.
EDIT: Sorry, I just looked it up. It IS death...
Well, don't that just beat all... ._.;;
