I heard "My Name" on the radio tonight. This is the first song that I have heard by George Canyon, and the first time that I have heard OF this him. Anyone know anything more aobut him?

I know he was the runner up on the second edition of Nashville Star. he lost to Brad Cotter. 3nodding

I know I'm seeing him live May 7th (with Aaron Lines and Carolyn Dawn Johnson) and July 1st (with Emerson Drive, Doc Walker, Johnny Reid and more). He is from the East Coast of Canada. He had an independant single out here a while ago before Nashville Star called "Good Day to Ride" but it never took off until after the show. His first single following the show was "Never do Better than You" and his newest is "My Name" My mom saw him live and met him a few weeks ago. She said he was very proper ("Nice to meet ya, ma'am") but a little standoffish yet. I've heard good things about him live and his CD is very good and worth looking into. I know that hes previously recorded 3 CDs and has his own record company in another country ( I wanna say Switzerland?) before he even went on Nashville Star. Hes like buddy Jewell in a sense. Been around for years and was never noticed. Buddy also had 2 CDs out before. I almost bought them for $10 a piece on his webby when Nashville Star just began...now you cant even find them and if you do they are like $30

He's from Canada and I know we had music and singles by him here before Nashville Star. I've not hear anything abotu Switzerland, but then, I never looked into it.

I like some of George's work... but his song "My name" makes me too upset. When your pregnant, you dont want to hear about a baby being still-born. All his other stuff is fairly good though.

Topaz_Rising_Flame I like some of George's work... but his song "My name" makes me too upset. When your pregnant, you dont want to hear about a baby being still-born. All his other stuff is fairly good though. Yeah, I could see that when you're pregnant. 3nodding

I saw George live last night. He sounds really good (and does a mean cover of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire) but he's not overly entertaining.

I love George Canyon . My favorite songs of him are 'my name' and 'letting go", but it sorta stinks that i havent seen his new music video (which really isnt new anymore) but i cant remember what is was, darn. o wait it was .....one good friend? wasnt it? i never got to see that video cause they never aired it in america

One Good Friend was released as a video, yes. But, there's also an even newer video for Somebody Wrote Love off the album of the same title that hits stores tomorrow.

I don't know if it will be available where you are or not, but it would be worth a shot to look for it if you're interested in it, I'm sure.

Drinkin Thinkin is a good song. Canyon is from my home province. He lived in and still has land in Parrsboro (Or is that Pictou, well no matter). George Canyon is great though. He lives in Alberta now.

Hey there,
I wanted to tell you guys the reason why George Canyon had written the song called 'My Name', he had written it for a friend who had gone through a miscarriage and he had written it from the view of the baby. It makes me feel sad, but I think it was a good song for George Canyon to write all the same.
