((Well being as I don't know for sure the time range between Fort Weyr and Fort Hold I'm going to start them out the morning after the one Fort Weyr is currently on.))

Adli awoke to a bright light that was coming in through the small slitted windows of his room. The bed which Adli slept in was positioned just right for the light to hit him directly in the face in the morning. Adli yawned immencely and sat up in bed. Mornings being Adli's favorite times he easily swung his feet over the side of the bed and into a pair of slippers sitting at the edge of the bed. Quickly Adli made his way to the bathing chamber set up in a room attached to his bed chamber. Adli slipped off all his clothes and stepped into the warm soothing water. Sitting down slowly Adli stretched out in the large bath letting the water warm his body down to the bones.

Meanwhile in another bed chamber a few doors down from Adli's chanber was Jeslyn's room, Adli's daughter. Jeslyn was still fast asleep even with the light from the windows she never stirred. However a bright green little blob curled up at the very edge of Jeslyn's bed soon began to move the morning calling and awakening the little flit. Still rather sleepy the green flit climbed to the top of Jeslyn's bed moving along the side of Jeslyn's body until she reached Jeslyn's head. Chirping in Jeslyn's ear a few times Jeslyn just moaned and swatted at the flit. The flit chirped in annoyance and plopped herself down on Jeslyn's face chirping happily. Jeslyn quickly began to squirm and picked up the green flit. "Sally!" Jeslyn said sitting up and turning the flit around to look at her. "I'm up ok." Sally chirped satisfied as Jeslyn set her down and then she flew off heading back to Adli's room.

Change the glows, change the glows, the words repeated in the drudge's head incessantly, let she forget why she was wandering down the long, dim hallways of Fort Hold. Burdened with two large baskets, one of dims and one of brights, the drudge shuffled from crevice to crevice, scooping out the dim glows from the little carved nooks, directly into the basket.

She liked glows, glows were cool and the light was nice and gentle. She placed each bright just so in the pockets in the walls, change the glows, still impressed at how efficiently the little lumps could illuminate the sunless depths of the Hold.

She did this twice a day, and the task she loved best, 'freshing the glows in the twisty, narrow hallways all through the Hold.

Someone told her that she must be part Watchwher, for never once getting lost. She'd blanked on that. What? Watchwher? She'd never seen one. Not that she could recall, change the glows. She vaguely knew the Hold had several, but she never refreshed the glows anywhere near their lairs. They liked the dark.

... she hated the dark. The glows were light, and she loved the glows. Change the glows, change the glows...

Not much traffic this morning, change the glows but maybe she was earlier than usual. Her sense of time was rather poor, as she never went outside and saw the sun change the glows. She judged though, that it must be very early, change the glows because the klah pot was very full when she went down for her cup.

She'd taken a different route from usual this morning, enjoying the unusual quiet in some of the busier tunnels, and finishing those first. Before long, change the glows, she was near the Lord's rooms. She couldn't remember meeting him... her forehead wrinkled, trying to recall his face, change the glows. Nothing.

Something bright, but not so bright as the glows flew past; the drudge cowered against the wall, covering her face lest she see it, or worse, it see her. Changetheglows changetheglows changetheglows changetheglows... It was gone. Shaking, she retrieved her fallen baskets and returned to her task.

((*Hits herself hard on the head* Darn it! I forgot! Sally's a little kitten! xp Darn it! *Hits head on the wall* Man I feel like an idiot. xp Ok just to clear this up Sally is a kitten. I am not changing my first RP post Sally is just going to change species because of my stupidity. sweatdrop ))

Sally ran past the drudge now cowering in the floor. Not really caring Sally ran on to Adli's bedroom door still in sight of the drudge and began meowing and scratching at the door. Adli immediately opened the door and allowed entry to the little calico kitten. Adli before closing the door again glanced around the hallway but instead of finding nothing Adli spotted the drudge on the floor shaking but before he could say a thing she was up again and off to her task.

Adli sighed and walked back into his room and looked over at Sally who was now sitting on the very edge of Adli's bed cleaning her fur. Sitting down beside the little kitten Adli began to pet her with a smile on his face as Sally began to purr.

((It was still a flit tha the drudge was cowering from, I figured as I was writing that even if it wasn't Sally, it would be someone's flit.))

Change the glows... A small feline scampered past, followed shortly thereafter by a vaguely familiar girl. Probably the Holder's daughter, her mind supplied, but she still reacted similarly as she had to the scary thing from before, startled by their sudden appearance.

She waited until the hall was quiet before picking up her baskets once more. She hurried through this area, hoping not to be disturbed again. Change the glows, change the glows...

Walking in a hurried rush down the hallways of the Hold was a dark man his features set and buff from the many years of hard labor he had done. The man's expression was blank but his posture and rush showed a bit of worry. It wasn't long till he reached the door he was heading for a knocked with a sense of urgency. Inside there was a bustle of noise and scrambling and seconds later Adli opened the door a suprised look on his face. But before Adli could say anything the man spoke.

"Lord Adli sir! The Watch Wher. He's dead sir!" The man said quickly. Adli went from suprised to shock.

"What?! How?" Adli said quickly and then pulled the man into his room and closed the door.

"He died of extensive thread scores." The man said after the door was completely closed.

"But how?! I saw the Watch Wher early last night he was fine. How could he threadscores between then and now?" Adli asked sitting down on his bed. This was bad now what were they to do? That Watch Wher had been their only protection and without it they were defenseless.

"A Threadfall sir. Thread fell not far from the Southern Boll not hours ago." The man said. This completely confused Adli.

"A Threadfall at night? But it's not possible." Adli said shaking his head in disbelief.

The man sighed and shifted uneasily on his feet. "Well it is. Fort Weyr fought the thread along with many Watch Wher's and flits. There were extensive injuries to all."

Adli sighed placing his head in his hands for a few moments and then looked back up at the man. "Where is the Watch Wher?"

"Outside sir. He landed in front of the hold but died only minutes later." The man said backing up as Adli stood up with a discouraged expression on his face.

"Arrange for his body to be disposed of." Adli said and the man quickly nodded and left. Adli sighed and glanced down at his feet where Sally was rubbing against his legs for attention. Reaching down Adli picked up Sally and petted her a small smile appearing on his face.

(kk gracias. Nice flit egg. Lol)

"Where are we going to get another watchwher?" Aliandria asked, standing up from her seat and moving over to her husband. "Not to mention, how is it possible for a watchwher to fight Thread? I've never heard of such a thing." She wrapped light arms around Adli from behind, and rested her head against his back.

Aleydis' head snapped up from the runner that he was inspecting when the faint sound of keening filled the air. Stepping from the shadows of the stables, he squinted up the hill to the entrance to Fort Hold and spied a crowd gathered around...something; was it a person? Had someone died? He wondered if the flits' reaction had something to do with it. After giving the runner he was tending to a gentle pat, he decided to go and investigate.

When he finally pushed his way unforgivingly through the crowd, the sight of he dead watchwher came into his vision. The poor beast was covered from tail to snout in fatal wounds, and the spirals of smoky crackdust that sifted off of it into the air were obvious evidence of threadscores. But that would mean a Fall, and the skies had been clear over Fort for days...not to mention the fact that the sun was just coming up. A murmer stole through the people around him as the speculation started. Without a word, he turned and made his way back to the stables; he would speculate on his own, without the bothersome chatter of theseingrates.

Adli sighed placing a hand on Aliandra's hands that were wrapped about him. "I don't know darling." Adli said thoughts and possibilities running through his mind of what they could do and then one hit him.

"The Weyr." Adli said turning in Aliandra's arms to face her. "The Weyr has a watchwher. We can request theirs. They owe us as much for giving them our food." Adli said with a grin. It was a great idea!

"I know I can not be classified as the most intelligent woman on Pern, dear, but won't the Weyr object to such a request? True, they have a watchwher as well, but the fact that we give them food is because it is our duty as Holders, as well as their continued protectance from Thread." She lifted her head to kiss his back a few times. "I'm not trying to ruin your plans, I believe it is worth a try, but don't be disappointed if they turn your request down. Though, if they do, you can request a watchwher from the next Clutch that is laid."

Rukbat was setting and Belior and Timor were peeking over the horizon. Shadows lengthened and the day was coming to a close. A distance away from Fort Hold, Neola stopped the borrowed runnerbeast. Removing it's rope halter, she sent it back towards the Weyr with a soft pat to its rear. Let someone guess how it got loose.

Tucking the length of rope into her small bag, Neola set out on foot towards the Hold. The trip from the Weyr had been long enough for her to come up with a plan. People would wonder if she arrived on runnerbeast and it would make her story less believeable. Foot was the best form of arrival.

As she grew closer to the Hold, her pace slowed, making it seem as if she were a weary traveller. She had smudged some dirt artfully upon her clothing and looked for all of Pern as a worn-out, dirty faced, lost girl.

The watch at Fort Hold stopped her at the gate and asked what she was doing there. Neola burst into tears, not that hard of a feat considering what she'd been doing a lot of that day. Rather shocked, startled, surprised, and anything else that starts with an s, the man led the sobbing girl inside, sending someone after the Lord and Lady Holders.

The runner located the two, breathlessly telling them of the arrival of a small crying girl.

Adli sighed as he knew Aliandra was right. In these types of matters she was always right and he had grown to listen to her as she usually was able to keep him from doing something stupid. "I know it's probably just a waste of time but I am still going to ask them. If they turn us down they turn us down though after all we do for them they best have a very good excuse." Adli said turning around to face Aliandra giving her a smile and a kiss on the forehead before a knock came to their chamber door.

Adli chuckled looking over at the door and then back at Aliandra. "Never any peace." He said before going to the door and opening it to find a breathless runner. The runner quickly spoke of a crying girl at the gates. "Uh... Yes thank you." Adli said looking back at Aliandra with a sheepish smile. "Duty calls love. Shall we go see to this girl?" Adli asked motioning for her to come along being as the watch had asked for both of them.
