This is my story for Algus I have been writing since November, 2005. I will post a comment thread so feel free to post what I should do to improve it.

Here is a Time Table:
1 Day = 30 Hours
1 Week = 10 Days
1 Month = 5 Weeks
1 Year = 12 Months

Seasons:
Spring = Bloom
Summer = Heat
Autmn = Storm
Winter = Frosts

Sunrise:
North - South

Moon Cycles:
Blue Moon
Red Moon

They follow each other, alternating every year. Every fifty years, they both come out together for the full year, then progress as single moons afterwards.

Two Moons of Sigmar
Book One of
The Chain of Destiny
By: Alexander Murphy

Intro

(This is Algus talking to the reader.)

I never thought my life could be more perfect. A mother with care and affection, and a brother to stand by my side. My father shattered this serenity with anger and hatred. I also felt resentment towards him, for he spent all his time with brother. Mother was always at my side to cradle me in her arms.

I find it strange how love affects a man. Even when there seems nothing to live for. If you die, you not only break yourself, but the ones you love. Love affects a man, maybe for the better, maybe for the worst.

Even after all that has happened, I find that it is hard to let go what you feel guilty for. Not being able to be near them, to stand in my prison and watch with shame and fear for them. My prison.

My story dosen't begin here, but more so, how I came to be.

Chapter 1: Life of A Prince

"Yes, Fa- your Highness." Said a small black haired child, who looked no older than ten years old. He was kneeling in full body armor infront of a throne burnished in gold colored wood. A lone figure stood behind the child with the exact same features, but he hand an intelligeble look on his face and expressionless crimson colored eyes.

A broad shouldered, 7-foot man with thick forearms, and a bulky figure all the way down his entire body, was sitting on the throne. His hair was black, with two gray-white streaks by the temples of his head, to the end of his shoulder length hair. His eyes looked as if he held an eternity of anger for the kneeling child, his similar crimson colored eyes also held a look of depression.

The first child, now trembling, looked up at the man on the throne, and went pale with fear and felt the bile in his throat collect into his mouth.

"Rise. Deliver your reports, and make them quick!" The king demanded, his voice quiet but impatient as the child rose.

The boy looked up, with innocent, light blue eyes, and a compassionate face. His face, hair, and body were similar to the child right next to him. As the boy stood, the one beside him started his report.

"Your Highness," The red eyed child began but stopped as he saw the child next to him observe the white, gleaming walls with countless colorful tapestries. He leaned close and smiled slightly. "This is amazing, is it not? Your first time here, Algus?"

Algus nodded then said, "Yes it is really magnificent, and to think that grandpa made this so long ago!" Azure floors and a golden ceiling with tracings of angels lined in silver displayed the magnificance of the kingdom of Sigmar. Algus whispered into his ear, "Armageddon, you might want to finish before father gets angry."

Armageddon chuckled quietly, "Okay, okay. Your Highness, excuse me for the interruption. As I was saying, the Meyshar, or water conjurers so to speak, have made no attempt to cross the northern borders. The Dunjir have our men in a deadlock. They seemed to have improved and now they overmass our southern berder. The forests to the west wave nothing hiding. I checked personally. Algus give your report about the east."

Algus cleared his throat and retrieved a bag and took a look through to make sure the items were there. "Your Majesty, uh Highness, excuse my delay on my return. The kingdom of Gelteen was in disarray. The Queen Vintera passed away but three days prior to my visit. Their gift of condolences far exceeded our own, but I gave what I had."

"And?" The king replied.

Algus took an item out of the bag. I was a crown of roses and dove feathers ordained with six rubies. Algus handed the crown to the king and resumed his report. "Prince Cathorn was to assume the throne, but the day of his coronation three assassins tried to slay him," Algus took out three badges and a letter along with a broadsword broken in half. He gave the insignias first, along with the letter. He waited a minute to examine the sword, then handed it to him as well. "I protected him. He was so greatful for my support he wished to delay the coronation, he wanted to wait for you. He also gave me some Sem for the trouble..."

"Because of an assist? Son what are you implying?" The king asked.

"He...wishes us to attend and let us give him protection should another attack occur, and he wishes to make a formal peace treaty with us."

"Hmph. Well let us go ahead of time. To ease Cathorn's worries." The king replied.

Algus handed the bag of money to the king, blood was trickling down his arm, but the king rose his hand and said, "I think you earned the money, not me."

Algus returned the money to his pocket, he felt the blood, and wiped it off. He walked back next to Armageddon.

"Thank you, both of you. You have the rest of the day off. Armageddon heres fifty sem. Remember to get a good nights sleep. You are dismissed." The king waved his hand for them to go.

Algus turned around and grasped his left arm. Armageddon looked at Algus and then his bloodied arm, "Uh, Algus? Lets go see Klyte. He can help with your arm." Algus nodded his head and headed down the corridor.

As they reached the door the doctor, a scrawny, gray-haired, hunch backed, brown eyed man looked up and said, "I thought you wouldn't come awake. You should have come here first." Algus looked down at the floor and replied "Yeah, but you know how my father is to me, says I act to kindly and willfully, like my mother."

"Well damn you father for thinking that. Your mother is one of the best women I have ever known." The doctor, Klyte, is a nice, kind hearted man, but tends to have a mouth and dosent care if his patients are servants or the king himself. He bade them to come in.

Algus removed his armor and shirt to reveal several minor cuts and three gashes on his arm, along with two broken arrow shafts protruding from his forearm. Klyte tisked as he laid a hand on the shafts and

without warning pulled them out and sent Algus screaming and the door burst open. The most beautiful woman was at the door, staring at the child. She had long, flowing, black hair, a compassionate and loving face, with a body to swoon any man who looked. Like Algus, her eyes were light blue, with a fearful look as she saw Algus in the chair clutching his arm. "Did Gerard hurt him?" she screamed. Algus replied in a weak voice, "No, mother, he didn't. I was protecting the king to be, of the kingdom Gelteen."

A lone tear streaked down her face and she held him closely, her rose colored lips kissing his forehead. "Now Algus," the doctor began, "Think of something pleasant, something to calm your mind. I'm going to heal you, so concentrate on staying still." Klyte put a solvent into his hand and rubbed it on Algus' injured arm. His arm starteled him by tingling, then convulsing as the doctor muttered a few words. When Algus opened his eyes his arm looked as if nothing had happened. He quickly hugged the doctor and dragged Armageddon behind him.

"Be back later mom!" Algus said as the door closed. "Make sure you be home before dark your birhtday is tomorrow, both of yours!" Geniva said as she stuck her head out the door.

Armageddon has his chin in his hand, thinking about the incident in the throne room. Why didn't father say anything about Algus' arm?
PostPosted: Mon Jun 19, 2006 10:46 pm

He could have shown some appreciation towards him for helping.

"Whats wrong? You normally don't think unless it is important." Algus said as he laughed. Armageddon replied, "Oh, haha, Its just about father and why he didn't say anything about your arm."

"Well like Klyte said, damn him. He's more of a man just there. It just feels like I am always getting in his way."

They stopped at the door the Algus' room, and Algus turned to Armageddon. "I'll meet you over by the smith in half an hour ok?" As Armageddon walked away he lifted one arm and seemed to wave it off, "All right, but this time, make sure you wear common clothes, if we're to be on the streets for a while. You know how people swarm us." He turned down the hall as Algus entered the bedroom to change out of his blood stained armor and into clean clothes, all the while thinking of how his father can treat his mother the way he does. He walked out of the room and said to himself, "Tomorrow I will be fifty years old. Hopefully father will accept me then."

Chapter 2: Birthday

Algus woke up, he realized that today was his fiftieth birthday. He looked down, saw that his clothes were very tight on his body and started to rip as he turned, and he screamed a blood curtling cry.

Ten minutes passed and his mother came into his room. She seemed alot smaller to Algus. "M-m-mother what happened t-t-to me?" Algus asked shakily. Geniva held a hand to her mouth and laughed. "Son it happens to everybody in our race as we reach the age of fifty. Some earlier, some later, but after today, your body won't grow, except your hair of course." Geniva pulled out a full sized mirror. Algus was looking at a man with a slender body, his chubbyness was gone, he appeared taller, more filled in, he notcied his groin had hair, as well as his under arms. His face held the look of his mother, but more masculine and slender.

He looked into his own eyes and saw how much he chagned in one night. "So, now I can develop my skills, I get a chance to prove myself to father. Mother can you grab me some garbs please? I don't think mine will fit me." Algus siad. His voice seemed more mature, more developed. Almost as if he wasn't himself anymore. Geniva looked up into his eyes. "I will see what garments I can grab."

Two hours later, Algus was sitting on his bed, covering himself, looking at Armageddon on the chair. Armageddon was garbed in dark red breeches with a long sleeved, red shirt, all trinned in gold with the design of a lion going up his sleeves. He stood up, and his giant body reached six feet seven inches, his face resembling their father's. His body was built muscularly, if slender. Algus looked at the door to see his mother standing there with tears in her eyes.

"Mother, what's wrong?" Algus asked with concern. Armageddon smiled and said, "Well I guess we're growing up too fast."

"My babies, you have grown soo much...promise me this." She hesitated. "If you ever fall in love, please never become your father." She handed Algus his clothing and he looked up and Armageddon said with Algus "I promise."

As Algus put his clothes on, he saw that there was a silver wolf on his shirt and pants. He realized that, unlike his brother, his clothes were midnight blue. As he pulled on his new boots, a man came in the door and said "Your Majesty, Prince Algus. The king wishes to see you in the central gardens by noon. If you may."

Algus paced in his bedroom, haunching his neck so as not to hit the cieling. He kept thinking and thinking, what would father want in the garden that is so important? Twice and only twice has he sumoned us there. Could he possibly want to see to us about 'proper' training?

The clock struck fifteen, noon time on Citadel, and Algus made his way down to the garden. Click-clack, click-clack. Algus stopped as the Royal guard circled Algus with swords drawn at his neck. The dragon emblem shined, its bright ruby red wings spread out with its head to its left wing, the symbol of Gerard. Sigmar, the largest and most powerful kingdom known on Citadel. Its flag is a silver sword and a gold shield on a dark blue background.

Algus held up his hands. He counted the soldiers, ten. "Halt, who are you and why do you trespass on the High King Gerard's palace?" said the soldier. Algus realized by the mark on his shoulder, he was the captian of the squad.

Algus started to laugh, and the guards tightened their swords. "My name is Algus Wolfbane, son of Gerard Wolfbane. As to my intentions, I'm pretty sure you know by now." Algus paused as they sheathed their swords.

"Lord, I- please forgive me." The captain knelt and looked at Algus. "Don't worry, I understand. Rise." Again Algus waited.

"Sir, what will you have us do as punishment?" The soldiers eyes were downcast. "You know I personally hate hurting people, but your intentions were good. Please, the only thing I ask is for you to move so as to not upset my father." Algus smiled and put his hand on the captain's shoulder. "Oh, and keep this between us." Algus whispered. As Algus entered the garden he heard the captain yell orders, "Return to your posts! Do not falter!"

Algus stopped as the door closed and locked behind him. Something flickered in the sky. He blinked. A bat? He felt a pain in his right hand as it was raised to greet his father. He saw a Royal Dagger imbedded in his hand. "Why? Gerard, why do you insist on hurting him further?" said his mother's voice from somewhere nearby. Algus pulled the dagger out and threw it at a tree. The shilouette of a man came from the tree clutching his arm as blood spasmed out.

"Attentive, patient, kind." Said his father. "You did not hesitate. Why? Even though I am royalty?"

"Even in battle, royalty does not matter, you live or die. That is war. Nobody, not even you, is different from anyone else on the battlefield. But, why did I do it? You sicken me as a father, you cold, heartless b*****d!"

Algus punched his father straight in the face. Greard flew back and hit a wall. "Not silver eh?" Gerard face was bloody from the broken nose he recieved. He took a step forward and vanished. Algus instinctively spun his leg in a backwards drop kick motion, bringing his left leg up in a round house, hitting Gerard in the arm. Hearing a bone break, Algus got up and leered over his father. "I hate you for what you did to me." Algus brought his foot up to his father's throat. "The day we were born, during the Double Moon Waltz. Armageddon was born first, you thought the delivery was over. But Klyte, he told you there was another child." Gerard looked up. "You never told mother did you?" Gerard was gripping at Algus' leg, trying to get a breath of fresh air. "Mother, do you know what he told Klyte to do?" Algus yelled. "He ordered him to kill me without second thought!"

She gasped. Geniva knew little of the brith for she was unconcious after Armageddon was born. "Why, Gerard?"

Algus took his boot off his father's throat, then took off his shirt, showing a scar from his let shoulder ending at right below his right shoulder blade in an arc.

Gerard got into a kneeling postion, holding his throat. "Because he is filth, always was and always will be." He spat on the ground, blood streaming frmo his mouth. Out of nowhere a sword appears in his right hand and he stabs at Algus.

Blood flew from Algus' mouth, he looked at the sword protruding from his stomach. Algus turned and snapped the sword in half. He backhanded Greard in the face, and Algus suddenly found a strange sword in his hand. Too heavy to lift with one hand, Algus siezed the hilt and lifted it into the air. There was a ring when the sunlight hit the obsidian, double-bladed sword.

"This sword," Algus started, but stopped when he started to feel lightheaded. He took his right hand, grabbed the scimitar blade, and pulled it out of his stomach. He droped the blade and his own sword vanishes. Algus stumbled to his mother, the earth rushed up to meet him, and everything went black.

Algus woke up and it was black everywhere. He sat up and hit his head on the cieling. Someone came in with a candle, he noticed it was a woman. He grabbed her arm and said, "How long have I been out?"

"Nearly three days m'lord, you mother is worried."

The woman looked as if she were in pain, and Algus realized that he was squeezing her arm. "Sorry, light the candles and you may leave." She gave a small curtsy, "Yes, my lord."

Algus sat on his bed, his elbows on his knees and his head in his hands. Now what does mother think of me? Am I truly becoming my father? I can't. I won't let this happen!"I won't let this happen!" Algus siad out loud and swung his left arm in a cutting motion.

Geniva was at the door watching him. "Then don't." She smiled warmly at Algus. "Do you hate me now? Because of what I did to him?"

"Never, I love you even more."

"Why?"

"Because three nights ago I learned the truth of what happened to you and me." She gently put a hand on his shoulder. "Come with me. The walls happen to be listening." She paused and thirty servants dispersed as she turned around. "Gather your belongings too, I shall show you to your new room." She said behind her back.

* ** ** *

Algus did not have much, but still it took him a while to pack. So now we will learn more as the future grows upon us.

He entered his new room twenty minutes later with two bags. He looked in awe as he saw the sky but realized it was a glass window. There was an ornately polished oaken bed.
