Our guild, Novos, formerly: Darkstar, has undergone many changes in the past. For whatever reason these occurred, never has this guild lived up to what it wished and claimed to be. The case remains the same. We face a decision: to change again in hopes of ending up where we need to be, or to stay on the current path to wherever it may lead; currently that looks like nowhere.

This thread is meant for discussion about the future of Novos. Whatever your ideas, please post them and help in the discussion. If Novos is to do anything but sit in the shadows, we must use the time given to us to make it grow. Now is the time, lets solve this issue.

That sounds interesting. Perhaps the reason many people have left is because they feel bound to act on these discussions. With a more free-flowing guild, it would be more enjoyable, and without all the stress of having to do something, maybe more intelligent discussion would take place. Bring Novos back to what it once was... Good job, Myslec.

That's the hope.
For some reason I always come up with the good ideas late at night. I think best then. Hmm...I'll see if I can find info. on it. [EDIT: I can't find anything]

Please add to this idea if your want, or post new ones. We are here to discuss the options.

I would really like to know what you think Novos should be like and what should be done. We aren't giving up on the idea, but that doesn't mean changes in the guild won't help.

Perhaps we don't need to separate the discussion from the party. If we just work on what we can here and make threads in GD or ED for important, unbiased discussion, we should be fine. These threads main purpose would be to get an idea of what most people think and to fuel ideas at home, but they also might increase awareness of Novos and draw a few members. We would need to carefully plan the threads out ahead of time so they didn't flop.

What do you think?

I think that yes, there should be discussions outside of Novos. Yet these things should probably be done by the will of whoever creates them, and not necessarily be a planned-out Novos thing. Okay, that sounded odd. Basically what I mean is I think members should become active in the forums as well. I mean, how are we to attract new members and see their viewpoints if we don't mingle with potential members. But basically, this doesn't have to be an all planned out thing. If someone wants to create a topic in the forums, let them do it, and then post the link in the guild so we can discuss in the topic as well. We don't have to associate the topics with Novos, just if someone's interested, tell them about it.

Basically, I'm not sure about whether we should save the guild for just discussion or not. It seems that this will take so long in planning, that either way, we will be primarily discussing for quite some time.

@Aeridea, Every time I see you, you look different! confused

I think that Novos can primarily stay as is, with more varied discussion.

I agree that individuals should be welcomed to make their own posts and to mingle with others in G&ED, but a good, 'official' thread is more work and responsibility than I want to do an my own. For this we can work as a group to design a great thread, then bring it to reality.

About that "official thread," I think that the last one (that Flip started) was good in how many people it attracted to it, but I think it scared more people away from the guild than it brought in. Whatever topic we decide for it should be controversial enough to maintain a lot of interest, while at the same time being something where we can defend our point of view without too much difficulty.
Unfortunately, Fenris is the best at that sort of thing (I think) and he can't be around much at the moment.

I think it would be great if each of the members started getting more involved in the forums on their own, participating and creating topics. We can also have certain topics as our "official" novos threads as well.

@Myslec: Yeah, I get bored my my look quickly.

With so few of us and so little activity at home, I think that the idea of manning an official thread outside of this guild is just that, an idea.

I think the focus should be on having discussions, in our guild, and inviting people to participate in those discussions.

PS. If anyone wants to make their own threads to help, feel free!

This is true. And it's not like we've been able to keep discussions very well even in the guild. Looks like there can be no official thread for quite some time.

Though we could start talking in the gaia forums, not even about Novos, and maybe insert a banner or something.
