What kind of convention is it? Is it another anime convention, artist convention, Gaian convention...? razz Is this going to be a small public convention of sorts?
All the conventions are on a one-sided balance for me; most are quite far. It definitely sounds cool, though. ^_^

Wow, that's a big task-- you sure you can organize that? You're going to need funding and connections. A small but tightly knit group of followers too as a means of spreading the word. Also, conventions are year round dedication for CEOs if you want something to become known.
Would I go? I would if I had a car or a way to get there. But as of now, no.
What to see? Video Rooms, Interesting Panels, Cosplay Contest, Anime Idol, Video Game Room, Dealers Room, Dances/Raves, "Sleepover" Events etc.
Convention Center or Hotel? Start out in a hotel and as the convention grows in size-- grow with it. It's like a plant. Conventions start out as seedlings but if watered and taken care of can become wonderful things.

I ALWAYS say hotel because I don't know of a single place that stays open 24 hours - unlike a hotel.
MC has damn good points there.
Use ANY connections you've made at previous conventions, especially if they were staff if nothing else than to get advice.
Follow JACON's example and advertize using not so ordinary items, like the id clip thingers for 04, luggage tags for 05, etc. It can be expensive, but there are ways to do fundraising. biggrin
Good luck!!

I we've been contacting people. CEO's of cons such as Jacon and Metrocon. We do have connections. We are aware that it is a year long task but we can handle it. We have alo contacted potential sponsors ^_^
I agree with you guys on the hotel thing. I was thinking maybe the Adams Mark hotel.

Hello everyone. Its great to here some of your feed back. It really helps. As of now. I have gotten emails and feedback from one hotel already. And considering I emailed them this morning. This is great news. This has become a serious thing in my mind and the mind of my friends and such that are helping. Keep the ideas and such rolling. Anything would help.

The Adams mark is kinda expensive, but I think that's a GREAT choice and location due to its proximity to The Landing.. That would provide tons of food opportunities for con goers. Plus, it's so close to the St. Johns River.. that it would be a nice place to cool off.
I'm a uh.. born and raised Jacksonviller! I think it would be great to have a con there.. and I'm sure a lot of kids would go. There's a pretty big anime/gaming community in Jacksonville. Plus, all the kids at FSU would probably go. Hehe. I agree with the Hotel idea.
Especially since the Jacksonville Convention center isn't in as nice of a place as the Adams Mark.

Thanks again for the feedback. We haven't discussed when it will be as of yet.
@ Cherry Peel - I agree. The Adams Mark is within good distance of the Landing. Like you I was born and raised in Jacksonville (Orange Park really but very close to Jax XD) The landing does have good food like the sushi restaurant, I think it has a hooters too XD. The river is always a good place to cool off plus the landing has that water fountain thing that you always see kids playing in. It would be a great place for con photos.

Oh, ok. Jacksonville is so much closer than Tampa. *lives in Savannah, GA sweatdrop * Dragonsama would offer her assistance, but she's generally not very helpful at all and she lives pretty far away. cry

If you contact Roy and wheel and deal with him-- I'm totally there. I love the guy, he's what a true CEO should be. Can't wait for MetroCon 2 later this year in October. heart

Wow this is really good feedback. And that is fabulous. Actually I contacted Roy yesterday. And I know his like assistant so im going to try to get in contact with her. I know a lot of people that just can't go to cons cause they live here and there parents wont take t hem, or it's to far away. And Jacksonville is growing... Hmm THe Adams Mark.. Ill look that one up. I just found the Hyyte hotel and Emailed them... It seems everyone likes the Idea of the Adams so we will have to look into them.
And hey when it comes down to the nitty gritty. We will need everyones help. Spreading the word and such.. and well.. going. Heh. ^_^

Doesn't have to be the Adams Mark necessarily.. but it's just a great location. it's a really beautiful part of J-ville.. and I agree with the Landing/river being a great place for con photos. And seriously.. The Landing is like the best inadvertant built in food/hangout/shopping place ever. They have a cheap food court on the top floor and also nice dinner places. It's a great building to have across the street for a con.
Also, I'm from OP as well. Haha. Practically jacksonville. GO Orange Park! I would.. completely go to this. smile Since I could just travel into town and sleep in my own room at night. heart

Yeah Doesn't the Landing have an arcade too??? they might have closed it. I haven't been in a while XP
I looked up some stuff on the Adams Mark and i had diffuculty and didn't have much time. But I'm working on it as well ^+^
and as xtwistedxedenx said we need some great word of mouth. Even if it's just telling a few friends about it or posting a myspace bulletin any advertisement would be great ^+^
@ CP - ur from OP sweet. I live on College ^_^
