Hello all,
I was just curious as to how many Church of Satan members out there actually have membership cards? This is more for curiosity's sake than anything but it would be really nice if you could just drop me a line. Thanks. ^.^

Jill_the_Ripper Hello all, I was just curious as to how many Church of Satan members out there actually have membership cards? This is more for curiosity's sake than anything but it would be really nice if you could just drop me a line. Thanks. ^.^ All CoS members, upon acceptance of their application, are given a card. I thought the membership was $100.00 American, but it is indeed double that amount.

Oh. I don't know, I'm too young to get the card as of now anyway. I was just reading the site and it said something about a $200 fee that would get you a red card...

It's a $200 fee, and my application is going in in two days. 16 weeks later, I will be a cardholder. biggrin

Might be prohibited due to the risk of photoshopping and being allowed into online grotto activities and member status on LttD... But yeah... 16 week pending time. One year for active membership. T.T

I think that's ridiculous...You don't need to pay $200 for a card to be a Satanist.

Razor Scum I think that's ridiculous...You don't need to pay $200 for a card to be a Satanist. No one ever said you did. You need to pay $200 to be a member of the Church of Satan, rather.

I'm also not of age to apply for one(without parental consent). I'd like to have one when I'm older, though. 16 weeks....-_- At least you can practice the religion in the mean time.

Unless, of course, you're an active member of the church...But that doesn't usually seem to be the case...
Hrm, I guess I really don't care since I'm theistic, anyway.

Hrm, I guess I really don't care since I'm theistic, anyway. Access to CoS events and grottos and such. Do you recall the 6/6/06 Satanic High Mass? That was for cardholders only. Grottos as well are a members-only thing. I think anyone who would pay $200 for this would be an active member, don't you think? The moment I get my card, I'll be hunting down a grotto. Some just do it to show their support for the organization as well. To essentially throw their lot in with the devil, so to speak. It's an organization, and if you've ever worked with one, this is how they work. Membership fees with benefits. I work for a non-profit organization called the Bloomington Sister City Organization. We host Japanese-related events in the city, and also have a regular exchange going on with Izumi city, near Osaka in Japan. Membership fees are anywhere from $10-$100 a year, due to that it does take money to run an organization--even a non-profit one. Granted, anyone can attend our events, they just normally need to pay to attend, or they are restricted from member-only events. The same goes for the CoS. Non-members are not allowed into member-only events, such as grottos, however, it is not necessary to be a member of the CoS just to be a Satanist. You can continue to be eclectic, but it really does seem more fulfilling to belong to an organization. I'm sure there are non-member LaVeyan Satanist groups out there, but they are few and far between.
