The kitchens at Hogwarts at roughly the same size as the Great Hall and there are five tables of the same size as those directly above them. Brass pots and pans are heaped against the walls and the air is warm and constantly moving. One of the more than a hundred house elves that work there may give a person food.
To enter the kitchens, one need only tickle the pear on the painting of a giant bowl of fruit.

New to Hogwarts, little Dainty the house-elf wandered prudently into the large, busy kitchens of the castle. As a privately-owned house-elf, Dainty grew nervous, not used to seeing so many of her kind all in one place. Carefully manouevering the other house-elves, who paid her little attention, she observed in awe at the high efficiency and relatively good working conditions that were afforded to the Hogwarts service staff. Dainty, who's attention was so focused on the going-ons of the kitchen, failed to notice a stack of pans, which lay piled in a large heap in front of her. Distracted, Dainty shuffled directly into the stack of pans, knocking them over. The resulting crash gave her a rather shocking scare. "Oh, my! Dainty apologizes!" she exclaimed, to no one in particular.

Alair skipped over to the painting with a new sense of ditermanation. Determanation to not think of ******** Draco! s**t!!!He scowled at his thoughts before tickling the pear in the portrait. The painting swung open and into the kitchen Alair walked. He shut the door behind him and looked around the busteling house elves. He was very glad about Hogwart's treatments to the house-elves, for their history was all rather depressing. "Master Alair! Down to bake again?" a nearby house-elf squaked, happy to see him. "Yes Dixi, is my stove open?" The house-elf nodded and lead him twords a stove at the end of the row, enlarged for Alair's size. He went down there on holidays as well as Kiri and Draco's birthdays to make them something special, so the house-elves decided to make him his own stove for he refused to let them make for him. He encouraged the other house-elved to still use it however, for he didn't want his own spot for something he only did on special occasions. "What shall I make today..." He ponderd, unhooking his apron from it's peg on the side of the stove and wrapping it around his waist. It was blue with a pink trim to match his eyes, though he found the trim unecissary. However, Kiri had made it herself, so he used it whenever he baked. He thought of the possibilities. "I feel like making something strawberry..." he mutterd to himself, then got an idea. "I know! I'll make truffles! White chocolate ones with strawberry on the inside- oooh, I'm hungery now~." He babbled excitedly to himself before getting to work.

Calli was still shaking out her wet, partially frozen hair when she stepped into the kitchens. Almost immediately a house-elf was there with a fluffy towel. She smiled gratefully and thanked him before she realized someone else was also there.
"Ah! Good evening, Matron Hurst." Calli bit her lip to contain the giggles that threatened to erupt at the adorable apron. She looked down at the house-elf. "May I have a mug of hot cocoa? With the Ghiradelli stuff?" The house-elf beemed back at her, assuring her that of course, she could have whatever she wanted before skittering off to obey. Calli smiled. House-elves were such sweet, good creatures.
Curious, she peeked at what Alair was working on. Her eyes lit up. "Is that chocolate I see?"

Alair looked up when someone called his name, only to realize that it was a student. Only when she started giggling did he realize how utterly rediculous he must look in Kiri's apron, and he immediantly started to blush. "G-good evening Ms. Corte. And yes, it's white chocolate..." Alair's mind was a tad frazzled still and he was trying to settle into a teacher-student conversation mode, but it just wasn't working. So instead, he simply dropped the act and decided to go with his gut. "Do you cook by chance?"

Calli was somewhat entranced by the chocolate. "I'm absolute pants at it." A house-elf tugged on her cloak and handed her the cocoa. "Thanks..." She said absently. "Can I have some? When you're finished, I mean."

Alair blinked, never hearing that set phrase before, then laughed in what he veiwed as an appropriate maner -AKA, giggling. At her request Alair nodded. "Of course! You can be my taste tester if you want..." Alair cocked his head, just now noticing that the girl was wet. "Why are you all drenched..?" Alair asked curiously, knowing nothing of the girl's previous activities and not really thinking clearly of the inuendo in his quesiton.

Calli grinned like the Cheshire Cat. "Oh, I just went for a little swim in the lake. It's very refreshing." She took a sip of her cocoa and sighed in contentment.
"Truffles aren't something one makes every day. You making these for a certain someone?" She asked, waggling her eyebrows suggestively.

s**t. He was still with Draco according to everyone else. Alair was torn between trying to put up an appearence and having his baking high crushed by the change of events. His shoulders slumped, his smile switched from 'happy-go-lucky' to 'lonely smile'. He laughed nervously to try to accomplish something and scratched the back of his head on nervous habit. "No, it's just for me and Kiri tonight. No certain special someone." He went back to stiring his batter and attempted to change the subject back on Calli. "Swimming in the lake in September? It sounds freezing rather then refreshing."

Calli sensed the matron's unease and let it go. "I'm used to it. The beaches in Ireland are worse." She hopped up on a counter. "That's a really adorable apron. I'm sorry I laughed at it."

Alair began to scald some cream in a seperate pan from the chocolate while Calli talked. "Ireland? Is that where you're from?" He asked curiously, before smiling at the young girl's comment. "No need to appologize; though it is adorable, I agree, it's in no way ment for a man. I don't know what Kiri was thinking when she made it for me." Absentminded, Alair grabbed the hem on the apron and swayed it back and forth before making a 360 degree turn. Immediantly after he stopped spinning however, his face went beat red and he quickly went back to vigorusly stirring his chocolate. "Gah- mff- Please ignor that last bit! Sod it all, I need my chocolate." His face was burning from embarassment.

Calli had to clap her hands over her mouth, and she still nearly fell from her seat laughing. "Bloody wonderful!" She giggled. "And yes, I live in Ireland with my father." Her hot cocoa was nearly gone and for a moment she pouted at the mug before setting it down. "Where are you from?"

Alair pouted as the girl laughed, but found himself grinning shortly after. Laughing was always a good distraction. Upon hearing a tid bit of her history, Alair responded. "Well, I'm 'from' alot of places 'cause me and Kiri travled around alot in the summers of hogwarts. We where brought up right next to northern Ireland though! A litter ways southwest to be preciece. Stranraer Scotland. And then we went to go live with our grandparents when I was about 8ish, 9ish, and that was in London..." Alair ponderd about his past, trying to pin point all their different locations. "Then when Kiri got back from her first year of Hogwarts we went to our aunt's house in Belgeim, then to our great-uncle's house in America and then to Spain after that..." Alair gave a friendly smile to the student. "We had a rather screwy housing arrangment if I do say so myself."
