Is anyone here an emapth? My mom's a natural empath, and she's been haveing moodswings for the past 6 months or so. She's too young for menopose so we've been wondering what's going on. Well, a psychic told her that it's because she can feel everybody else's emotions so well. So she needs to learn to close herself at times. Can anyone help?

i actauly had to do extensive work to close my self off to people. =( it can be rather hard to do, at least it was in my case.

Well, I'm very good at telling people's emotions, and things like whether they're lying or not, but I somehow think that, for me at least, it's because I know how people act. I don't think I'm an empath.

Depending on what the person is thinking, they'll look a certain way.
Up and to the Left: The person is imagining an image, one they haven't seen. AKA, a purple elephant.
To the side and left: The person is imagining a sound they have never heard.
Down and to the left: The person is imagining a sense they have never had.

It's usually right. =D
As for whether I'm empathic or not, I'm usually pretty good at telling what people feel, and their emotions from body language.

I'm an empath. I recieve and then magnify the emotions of others around me. It's kinda annoying sometimes. My basic shirld usually keeps most of that out though. And the little that does filter through is too useful to argue about lol.
Try some basic aura and/or chakra cleansing to get out the foreign emotion, and then some sheilding excercises keyed specifically to keep out alien emotions. Cleansing the house to get rid of excess emotion is also a good idea too, just to get all the old out and not to stress the new barriers too much until she's used to them.
I FREAKED OUT when I first put up my barriers. I am so not used to that kind of emotional silence. I thought everyone was mad at me for like 2 weeks. I was an emotional wreck inside my own head. Because I hadn't anticipated my personal shields stopping the empathy like that. So make sure she knows what she's getting into before she does it, and be supportive if she needs it. It's weird as hell.

I went through alot tomake mine and i couldn't stand the emotional stillness when i was done >.< it drove me bonkers. sometimes people walk bhind me and itlike i got stabbed throguh the chest with someemotion or another, but i'm not all together powerfull so i can live with now that i'm older. I was also and emotionaly sheltered child so extreme emotions spazzed em out.

I should try putting up barries. Silvy, do you have a shielding spell of some sort you can put in the Guild's Shadows? Or is there already one there.

I'm sorta an empath, and sorta . . .I don't know. . . .Like some times when someones feeling really strongly, or thinking really loudly I feel/hear it. . . but lately that's been getting worse, I'm getting more sensitive. . . My dragon had to teach me how to shield. . . And I'll still do it to my friends sometimes. . . .but at least now I can kinda control it. My dragon says that it's doing all this 'cuz I'm "coming into my powers" whatever that means.

You know what's immensly sad? I had to figure everything out on the page for myself =( my shield is also my personal energy that does more than shield O.o i want a SLING SHOT for my shielding, *conspires* oh wait i have a crossbow...swoo(?) forgot about that. i liked the comment about the psychic vampires. i despise those....when they nail me i like to send them energy, but like wider than their "bandwidth" they are taking in and they spaz out and stop.
