Oh wait, no, no I didn't. They called me and said that the draw I entered into was considering me for a cruise vacation to Bahamas and Cancun. I fit their demographic and such. HOWEVER, I need to pay a promotional fee that I couldn't provide at this time. sad

No, it wasn't a blatant scam.

It wasn't an *absolutely* free vacation, as I later learned (and should have paid attention to, mind you). It was just a really cheap vacation.

Basically, its a cruise from Florida to the Bahamas, 8 days accomodation and rental car, then a bonus vacation to Cancun for about 6 days. However, we'd have to pay for our trip TO Florida, and plus a promotional fee of about $800. But otherwise, the rest is covered, I think...except maybe rental car insurance, I'm not sure. But it's something like that.

I didn't sign up myself, per se, but had someone sign me up for it, and according to them the way they interpreted the pitch and/or the way these people sold the idea was that the vacation was all covered and stuff.

i had some guy with an accent call me on my cell once telling me i won a cruise.. i had to call some 1-800 number to claim it.. i was like okay i didn't even enter to win any so how on earth did you get my cell number? i wrote down the number cause i knew they'd want me to repeat it.. it was a little strange.. my phone never get's any love and lately it has and it's for trips i didn't enter and people who can get their house they wanted to buy.. i really hope those guys got the information cause he just said they could leave a message on his cell or work and he would get a hold of them again.. yes i could have called him back saying it was the wrong number, but i wasn't bothered..

No promotional fee and whatever? The woman on the phone was saying that if it had been marketed as completely free and had they paid for all the usual fees, then we'd (the 'winners') have to pay some huge taxes or some such making it more expensive.

So, yeah, the catch was promo fee + gotta pay for your own accomodations/transpo to Florida + you also gotta attend some show or some such on behalf of the company that's holding the contest O_o

Those cruise contests are the biggest scams and frauds around. The so-called cruise contest with promotional fees is one of the top 12 scams listed.

That huge $800 promotional fee is a tip-off. Do your homework.

And yeah, I'm guessing the flight to Florida, plus the $800 isn't worth it, lol Besides, I don't think I'd want to go to the Bahamas if I had a choice xd
