Voodoo Zombie-
Unlike real zombies, Voo-Doo zombies, normally found in South Africa, aren't really.. even zombies.
Just mistaken for them.
The cause is a 'voo-doo' powder that Witch doctors use to render people 'dead'.
What this powder does is cause the heart to slow to a near stop, but slow enough for any highly trained doctor to judge a human being to be 'dead'. This person is then buried.
The cause of 'voo-doo zombification' is lack of oxygen.
When you're in a wooden box under ground, you have limited oxygen, this renders you to indergo brain damage.
Voo Doo Zombies are basically alive & well human beings with minor to major brain damage.
They are aware of the surroundings as to Zombies aren't.
They react to pain, if you hit their leg, they may just stop and tend to the pain.
Fire is another story, if they remember or not, they may stop to gaze or go to touch, but simply stop when the pain of heat arouses. As a regulaur Zombie would simply plow through the fire.

Hollywood Zombie.
These are highly overated. And real zombies are not like these zombies.
Since the dawn of movies, zombies were there. before and after.
Directors sweeten the deal to make it humerous. Some movies may be based off of real events. But still, zombies can in no way have super human capabilities or jump high spaces, or are afraid of fire like in Night of the Living Dead. (Black&white movie)
Unless the previous being in its former life was a superhero or some s**t >.>

Theres loads more different types of zombies we may encounter like:
Fast ones like Dawn of the dead,the ones on that are really fast as i remember,same as all zombies really but just stronger and fast,can sexually reproduce(One has a zombie baby in it i think)and abit dim in the head like all zombies and they won't stop to kill you
Theres the slow stupid ones who only wanna eat you'r brain out,if you watch Shaun of the dead,like them,Just really slow zombies who wouldn't stop to kill you.
And in one movie there was a person who was like half human and half zombie,some times he would be human...ish and in another part his eyes would change then try to eat you.
Lots of different types.

The voodoo zombification state is thought to be induced by a nerve toxin in the "voodoo power" found in a Caribbean relation of the pufferfish. The rest is unfortunate, lack of oxygen brain damage.

Well there are other kinds of zombies.
Fat zombies. Harder to decapitate thanks to the fat and tissue around their neck (You ever try to cut through a triple chin).
Zombie baby: no real info on these. Either they get eaten straight away or writers stay away from such a harsh topic.
Really f-ed up zombie. Very freaky to look at. Throat cut/ripped out. Folds of flesh hanging off. Arms missing or bent at odd angles. Threat level: higher than you'd expect. The average person either tries to help (stupid uninformed people) or stares in shock/horror as the undead eats them. To an expierencced person, threat level: tiny. Throat is gone so no noise. You can have fun with this kind of zombie.
Crawlers. Lower body either missing or inoperable. Hard to spot and easy to bang up a blade while killing it.
Hot chick zombie. As the name says, it was a hot chick. Bite should be lower to be a real good hot chick zombie, so the upper body and face are unharmed. A recent turn. Woman still has good looks and looks somewhat alive. Most men would hesitate when having to kill such a zombie because of morals long ingrained into male thoughts. "Don't hit a girl" that one. Threat level: minimal alone, the guy will get over the initial shock. But in a melee the threat skyrockets. The hesitation could be the second other zombies need to close in and bite. The hot chick zombie can also be a hot guy zombie where the hunter is a woman and the zombie is a hot guy. Less likely for the hesitation however.
Hidden wound zombie. Threat level: relativly high. Hunter must hesitate and see either the blank stare or hear the moaning to realise it is in fact a zombie. Bitten guy gets bit on leg and binds the wound and puts new pants on. Wound is hidden and hard to find. Again, hesitation.
Each different kind of person is a kind of zombie. Those are just the hardest to kill either phisically or mentally.

I have practiced the religion of vodun and you are almost right. There have been report of people experiencing zombification however it is not done by a powder. The caplatas or bokors would use powerful drugs. There is no permanent damage but for long amounts of time, they cannot function on their own. Also Vodun was only really in West Africa and Haiti (correction: they did sometimes use a powder from toxins in certain fish)

(Black&white movie) Unless the previous being in its former life was a superhero or some s**t >.> No it depends on the human before reanimation!If the human possesed incredible speed,the newly reanimated bodie would have speed abilites...for a short period.See the bodies mucle needs oxygen to work,and after the zombies mucle weaken then they turn into regular zombies.

For the hollywood zombies I'm pretty offended that you targeted Night of the Living Dead how can you say that a zombie wont learn that fire is bad it came from the directors imagination you cant say its right or wrong and I didnt find the film humorous. Why do you keep referring to 'real' zombies like you have seen one in person?

Shuffler Zombie-Your typical slow moving moaning zombie.They are given the name shuffler because the sound they make when they walk sounds like someone shuffling at a very slow pace.Usually attack in large groups due to the slow speed they move at.They come in all shapes and sizes.
Sprinter Zombie-Very quick and agile.Can attack in packs or alone never underestimate them.They are extremely hostile and dangerous alone or in a group.Very hard to escape as they dont seem to be encumbered by fatigue.Most likely to be a fresh infected so it is not yet decayed and rotted.They have more a growl rather than a moan.
Vomiting Zombie-These zombies may carry any of the characteristics of the above zombies.It has an added characteristic the ability to projectile vomit on to its victims.Either causing blindness or inducing infection or both.It is best to take them out at a long range as quickly as possible.
Intelligent Zombie-These zombies may carry any of the characteristics of the above zombies.It has an additional characteristic of being able to wield objects at a very primitive level.This zombie can be very dangerous as it seems to have the ability to learn and rationalize reasonably in a situation but at primitive level.
Decayed Zombie-These zombies may carry any of the characteristics of the above zombies.Depending on how badly decayed it is determines what movement ability it has these are usually shufflers but there may be a case of a sprinter its safe to expect anything.These zombies are very grotesque in their appearance.Usually exposed internal workings they smell absolutely rank with death.They are very frail and can easily have they're limbs taken off.

...maybe you people should try to figure out the ACTUAL threat of zombies by scientifically seeing what is possible and what is not? First do you know how much water it takes to filter out human blood let alone flesh? they would need basic neccesites to stay alive long enough to infect and eat like they do. so they would be retarded people basically that look for water and try to kill you at the least. Another thing is it would be an act of god if a z virus occurred in nature it would have to be a well thought out and designed virus to really do anything whatsoever. so it would not be a small group of people infected at first but massive groups of infected people((Person to person spreading like sneazing on your hand shaking someone elses and they wipe their mouth etc...)) and a long incubation time. so even if you are prepared at the get go you or one of your group could be or already are infected. maybe even for a while already endangering your whole group.

Altair Noir zombies comes in all forms... even animals right?? nearly no virus or bacteria is trans species and even when they are it is at best with one other species
