 As you walk into the astronomy classroom you see that the walls are painted black, and here and there and few golden stars that are sprinkled about. They are charmed so they actually sparkle. You also see eight old, creaky, dark-purple tables that are shaped like a cresent moon. There are four dark blue chairs around each one. In the front of the classroom you spot a an old, frayed, mahaghady, desk that is covered with various papers; lesson plans, notes, grades, and an unfinished letter. Pictures of loved ones and a few extra quills lay about; and some books are behind the desk in an old, grey, bookcase. Twenty star charts are leaned against the it as well. A yellow-eyed, petite, black cat sleeps soundly on an oversized stuff pillow. As you look through an opening to an outdoor observatory, you see Professor Sinistra gazing through one of ten telescopes. Her eyes are bright blue, and her hair is thick, and golden brown. It stops at her shoulder. A blue scarf is wrapped around her neck, as well as some black gloves and a brown sweater keep her warm. About the professor:
Professor Mia Sinistra is 23 years old, and she is the old, retired astronomy teacher's daughter. She is very keen to helping you if you don't understand something, so feel free to ask. She is also gracious when it comes to giving out house points, but then again, she's quick to take them away.

Classes are on Wednesdays and Fridays, and I will simply post and you will have all day to respond. There will be a deduction in points from each house if no one attends.....
Ah yes, and the first class is on the Tenth.

 Next to the grey bookshelf, you spot an old black board. A few pieces of chalk and an eraser are in a basket near it. The professor has already wrote a few notes. Her hand writing is elegant and easy to read.

THE MOON
I'm sure many of you know about the moon and it's effects on werewolfs, and many tales of moonlit strolls, for those of you that read romantic muggle novels. And you all know that it comes up at night, while the sun goes down. The moon is 384,403 kilometers (238,857 miles) from the earth. Pretty far eh? For your homework, I just want you to answer a few questions. You must do some research, for the anwers are not on this board.
what muggle was the first to walk on the moon?
Is there any atmosphere on the moon?
Please tell me all of the eight phases of the moon.
Describe a lunar eclipse.
[Extra-credit] If a man were to weigh 180 pounds on earth, how much would he weigh on the moon?

Mia was board, so she headed down to the teachers lounge. Her classroom was on the highest tower of hogwarts, so it would take some doing to find it.
-Maybe today will be my day to explore hogwarts- she mumbled to herself.

Professor Sinistra gazed around the classroom. Her cool icy blue eyes reflected emptyness. She sighed. She pointed her wand directly at a piece of chalk, and it immeadiatly sprung up to the board and was positioned.
"What is a horoscope?" she said outloud, directly to the chalk.
If anyone were to peek through the window they'd be quite perplexed. The chalk responded, and it quikly scurried across the board. When it came to a stop, she started again, this time without stopping.
"A horoscope is the representation made of the aspect of the heavens at the moment of a person's birth, by which the astrologer professed to foretell the events of the person's life; especially, the sign of the zodiac rising above the horizon at such a moment.
Also know as the diagram or scheme of twelve houses or signs of the zodiac, into which the whole circuit of the heavens was divided for the purposes of such prediction of fortune."
She paused, and scuffled a cough before starting up again.
"Today will be a learning day. All I would like for you to do is simply get comfortable with telescopes, and write, in your own words, what a horoscope is."

"feel free to ask me any questions you may have about the constellations"
She murmured the incantation and the chalk stoppped and fell back in the basket.
"I hope someone comes...." she murmured sadly.

After waiting for well more than an hour, Mia decided to take a break.
"I think I'll go to hogsmade......" she murmured, hoping to meet someone there.

Rushing through the class room to her quarters, she grabbed her gloves and slipped them on. A pale blue scarf was soon wrapped around her neck, and within moments a thick black coat was on. She walted out of her quarters and went back into the dark corridor.

OOC: Is the Astronomy Class still open?
IC: Jamie took her place at one of the moon shaped tables and looked around in anticipation. Astronomy was without doubt her favourite subject. "I wonder what we will be learning first" she muttered to noone in particular as she gazed at the modle of the solar system which was sitting on one of the shelves

She smiled brightly at the student.
"Are you new dear?" she asked, realizing that she was a new face.
"Today we will continue on our subject about the horoscope. Who here knows what their astrological sign is? Mine is scorpio."
"Can anyone tell me what month I was born in and what my sign looks like?"
"Your homework will be on the board shortly" she said, and soon she grabbed a piece of chalk and began to scibble about.

Jamie raised her hand in the air. "Having Scorpio as you sign means you wer born between the times October 24 to November 22, the symbol for Scoprio is a scorpian or a 'M'" she resited off as is reading for a book
