Well, have your meditative trances been as deep as they normally are? If you're not as fully there as you normally are, that could cause a problem. Otherwise, well, I'm not too sure... How can we truly know what an astral being thinks, or why they act the way they do. Maybe he's playing around, maybe it's simply that he's elsewhere, but just sends a bit of 'presence' beside you when you enter the astral. Anyways, I suppose I'll stop speculating now, hope this helped a bit.

Sounds like hide and seek to me, lol. I think if your familiar were in trouble there would be a more visible call for help. A noticable absence, a call. But fading out when you sense him just seems like he wants to be there for you, but might not necessarily want to be noticed.

well i've stoped since this littel sherade started cause it gets me more frazeled than realxed@.@ i think your right Wellthen ...about sorta just sending his presence, if he didn't want me to know he was there i wouldn't know it. le sigh, thanks guys.
and the ethign about a noticable absence is that he went "missing" i say this losely cuase he was never realy my familar, more like friend? so i dunno. i ish conbaffled
