Marco, Guild Catfish

A guild like this one could use a pet of its own. Meet Marco, whom I picked up from a store on my way to the office. I've only managed to scrounge up a fistank for now, but I'm sure everyone here would like to make sure he stays happy and healthy.

To feed or play with Marco, post a picture of an item you would like to drop into his tank, and I'll add the item to the picture every few days or so. You may contribute anything from food to furniture and toys. Marco's diet isn't too restricted, so I've been told.

You need not be the original creator of the item. Grabbing a picture off the net would suffice, although drawing an item to match the art would also be perfectly acceptable. Refrain from hotlinking off a site that doesn't belong to you. Stealing bandwidth is not cool.

If you have no means to host a picture yourself, just post the url, and I'll go grab the picture off the other website.

To prevent Marco's welfare being compromised by over-enthusiastic carers, Here are a few guidelines to follow:

  • Only guild members may contribute items.
  • Each member may only contribute one item per week.
  • If your picture stretches the page, I will remove it, and it will not be added to the tank.
  • No bandwidth stealing. Host your own pics.
  • Not everything contributed, within guidelines or not, is going to be put into the tank. I'll be as accomodating as I can, and I will resize and crop as per necessary, but should I choose to throw it out, I don't want to hear griping.
  • Marco himself interacts with, consumes, or even destroys things you give him. I take no responsibility for such, either. >>;

Many thanks to Daisuke-kun. His Ichikura Jellies were my inspiration for Marco.

whee

Hope Marco isn't a jumper. I had a big goldfish once that could jump clear of the tank. One day she jumped when no one was home, and that was the end. x.x Be safe, fishy!

Marco can breathe out of water. He's more of a seal than a fish. wink

...why didn't you cover the tank when no one was home? gonk

Would've mentioned that that's a really pretty castle, but Gaia ate every post I attempted to make yesterday.

Thanks. ^^ And it was many years ago, but I recall that we did put books and other things over the tank sometimes, but my dad would take it off again. Once she jumped while my mom was standing next to the tank, and she caught Pearl (she was a white goldfish) in the air as she went flying past. xd Yeah, should have had something over the tank, but she hadn't done it for a while during that time, and we didn't see the immediate danger. crying

Know whatcha mean about Gaia, I've been having trouble getting the site to load for the past two days. It's either down or lagged. x.x I thought it ate some of my posts earlier today. See if this goes through...

Sometimes Gaia becomes hungry and nothing can stop it. o_O

Marco needs gravel. I'll see what I can do.... on a different computer, later.

I now feel inclined to go get a big white goldfish. It'd look awesome on our empty shelf space, save for the fact that the pet stores in this town are all rip-offs, and will attempt to sell me $75 worth of accessories and "water neutralizing salts" to go with my $3 fish, because it "won't survive long" otherwise.

The goldfish in our backyard, according to the houseowner, have thrived in their murky little puddle of a pond for more than 7 years. I think I like them better.

Something to note about Marco: he'll move things around and toss things out, or just eat them at will, so not everything that goes in there is going to stay there, except stuff he really, really likes. Don't worry about making what you throw in too fancy.

It took me awhile but I found some water plants. I hope they're a good size.

Yeah, sad thing about goldfish, they have that tendency of dying the day after you get them. x.x Pearl was one of the two special ones I ever had that lived for a few years. And she just had a tank much like Marco's with only some gravel and a little fake seaweed. She was a diehard fish, guess she wasn't going to die unless it was by her own fins. O.o;

How do pond goldfish handle winter weather? The big ones are so cool, and pretty. whee

I'll save that for the next update, shim. ^_^

Pond fish in winter? In Toowoomba (Quuensland, Australia) it's never been cold enough to snow, so I expect they do fine.

Except when it rains too hard, like it did last night, during which the pond overflows, and we can only hope the smaller ones don't squeeze through the metal grid we have over the pond.

*works on FD game for awhile longer, have class in a bit*
