So I made the most unexpectedly delicious discovery this past weekend at Half-Price Books, two of my favorite movies in paperback!
Re-Animator and The Frighteners!
For some reason, Frighteners didn't surprise all that much, but RE-ANIMATOR? Someone actually turned THAT into a book(and yes it is the movie adaptation, not Lovecraft's stories) The hell...

Re-Animator is 221 pages and came out in 1987; Frighteners has 246 and a copyright of 1996. Unfortunately, besides the cover pics, neither book has any photographs.
Just a brief flip through looks like Frighteners has a lot of changes from the movie! That's a mixed blessing when they write from earlier drafts of the script. Often your favorite parts are totally screwed up or missing altogether(and it looks like they messed with Dammers gonk ), but then there's often completely new bits with beloved characters. Whatever the case, I always enjoy them as collectibles, especially for movies that don't have a lot of easily obtainable swag.
If anyone's interested, I'll post my reviews here.

Does anyone else collect horror novelizations? One of my faves is my Dawn of the Dead slightly over-sized paperback, which does have a nice picture gallery. An unfortunate loss when I moved across the country was my ancient copy of Romero's Martin.

I don't collect books from horror movies per se, but I do have a knack of collecting books that movies were made of. I tend to find and read the book when I hear a movie is made out of it.

But I think I might make a habit of finding novelisations of horror movies. I was looking for a few good horror novels and if it's a good movie, it might make a passable book.
