Has anyone been caught off guard with annoying people who don't understand Wicca? Ugg, I hate ignorance. I was asked by a friend if my pentacle ring was a devil symbol. She was all, "Why are you wearing a Satanist ring?" I explained to her politely that it was a pentacle, and that it's a Wiccan symbol. Then, about two weeks later, she asked me the same question. gonk Another time, my adult wiccan friend was asked in Sears by an employee to take off her pentacle necklace because customers were "offended". neutral Sad. So, have anyone here had an annoying encounter?

I had some guy run up to me and ask me if I was a satanist.
I told him yes, and I have pizza with a kid named Lucifer every thursdays, then asked him if he wanted to join.
He gave me a weird look and walked away. xD
Funny thing is, no one knows I'm pagan, so he was just being plain weird. =D

*points at Amy and laughs*
My friend told me that the pentacle I wore (before the string broke) was a satanish symbol, and I corrected him on it. He told me that the type of dragon superimposed on the front of the pentagram was a devil one.
Now I'm still nut sure. I think he said something about "Red Dragon."

As far as I know, satan doesn't have a pet dragon. o.O
I haven't had run ins with ignorant religious people except for the right to life people. I was in DC and some woman came up to us and was like, "You have a choice!" at which point my friend was all, "It's not a choice, lady! It's a baby!" and then she came back, "I'm prolife!".
Then why are you using the opposition's catch phrase? F-tard.

lol!!! Funny stories. But, you know what's really sad is that Satan doesn't exist. He was made a looooong time ago as an evil dipiction of the Wiccan god Pan to convert the hundreds of thousands of pagans into Christians! Yet, people are solid on the fact that Satan is real. And do you know what's more sad? I was researching the Satanist beliefs (I was curious), and I found that there are two definately known sects of Satanism. One, of course, is that sect where they live up to their stereotypical name of well...you know, eating babies and stuff, and the other has such simplistic rules. A few are like, "If you harm an animal, you are sinning", and stuff like, "Children are sacred, harming them is a sin." And even stealing is a sin!! I was sooo amazed when I read about this. Just about, maybe a 1/4 of the US is a Satanist without knowledge! So, I suppose they're more misunderstood than us... xd

Remember, Wicca has only been around since about 1957. And technically, we can't claim that Satan doesn't exist. He (or some other being of ultimate evil) could exist, although it's simply not in our belief system. Doing that is the same as when a monotheist claims that the Lady doesn't exist. Secondly, the second sect of Satanism is closer to Atheism. If I remember correctly, they believe in just this one life, and oblivion after death. I'm not sure how they are on the whole diety level though.

I think the 'devil-worshiping' Satanists don't see him as a deity (although they do believe he is a god), but rather see him as a source of power. This is more my speculation, anyone with more info, feel free to correct me.

I read a book on cults and satanism was one of them, and I can't remember it very well, but I think it mentioned something about different ways people worship...
As I said, I can't really remember.

I didn't post it yet because I had forgotten about it, but I actually have had an annoying experience, with a load of little ten-year-olds. I was walking home from Luke's 18th birthday party with my mate Ozzyman, and a load of little kids were standing outside, gazing in awe at the limo Luke's mum had hired for him. Unfortunately, I had to go home early (stupid curfew!) So they started following us. And then they asked if we worship Satan. At first, I was like "No, no we don't..." but then I changed my mind and said:
"Actually, yes, yes we do. There's this ritual we do that makes people's willies fall off, we eat babies and sacrafice chickens too. And oh yeah, if you find a chicken feather on your pillow tomorrow morning, don't worry, it was just me putting a nasty spell on you."
They looked sooo scared! xd I wonder if they actually checked to see if one was there...
