Hello. I think we all hope this place will be an garden of prosperity and intelligent debate. There are a few rules I would like to announce at this time:

1. Grammar Nazi rules are in effect. If we can't read your posts, you will find yourself quickly emancipated from this guild.
2. Remember to enlighten us with your sources. Credible backup will make you look a lot more intelligent. I understand that this is not always possible. So if the issue is regarding logical matters instead of factual matters, please try and explain why you think the way you do.
3. Remember the Gaia TOS. This should be a given. I'm posting it anyways.

If I'm forgetting anything, please feel free to correct me. I'm always open to constructive criticism. As well: You should note that I'm being a little lenient on the people being let in at the start to give a little room to move around in. In my post checks, I'm just checking for legible typing skills. If anyone is a problem, they will disappear. I work on a two strike system. I forgive you once and if you act up again, you leave.

Maybe not grammar Nazi, right?
More like... grammar pseudo-Nazi?
I occasionally have my bad typo
streaks...

As long as your posts are readable and intelligent, they SHOULD be fine.

My spelling has always been really bad, and i appoliges before hand on it, but in person I have a very wide vocabulary, but I try to obide by what I get told to do: "If you can not spell it you should not say it." I say them I just try not to spell them alot. If I cant think of a lower word that I can spell I have been known to go look it up just so i can spell it correctly, for I couldn't think of another, lesser word to type.

If we can read it and it sounds intelligent, it's fine. If we can't, we'll tell you and then you should start using some sort of spell checker. If you don't have M$ Word or something, then you should consider downloading OpenOffice. It's a free office program that has a word processor with a spell checker.

I think the guild is starting to die...
We need to find a way to revitalise it!

For any who don't have perfect spelling, I recommend Google toolbar. It's a search bar that comes with a spellchecker.

I agree. It's seeming kinda dusty around here; there's quite a few cob webs around those first threads. *sees tumble weed blow by* I like that fabifly posted a new thread, but there needs to be more. I think we're all either shy, because no one wants to make a post that's not good enough for this guild, or we all just don't have any ideas for good posts. Maybe we need some more new members. We're a small little guild, so it's hard to get heated discussions going. I don't know how we'd go about recruiting people, but I think it defintely needs to be done.

Should some level of civility be enforced? There are certainly ways of speaking that are not to the level of flaming, but are still quite disrespectful to the other person. I think some sort of policy would help prevent this from happening, and prevent anyone from claiming that the rules do not cover unnecessary rudeness.

Fortunately, this hasn't happened yet. smile

People will always have differences of opinions. Anyone who can't grasp this concept in a civil mannor will leave. Simple as that.

Myslec: That's a good idea. As well: Firefox 2.0 has a built in spell checker.
