Side: Resistence
Forms:
Normal form (red)- Zero's basic form. The player starts the game with this. It has basic stats in all areas. No glaring weaknesses or strengths. It uses the standard 3-hit Z-Saber combo of "back, forward, overhead".
Active form (orange)- The Z-Saber cannot perform combos, and will instead use only the back slash. However, this form enables Zero to perform rolling attacks with the saber while jumping or dashing. The rolling attacks, while not very powerful, can strike multiple times.
Rise form (grey)- More or less identical to the Normal form, but the 3rd (overhead) slash in the Z-saber combo is replaced by the rising slash, which is a little faster, and is given an attack boost.
Power FormEnergy form (yellow)- This form makes energy crystals appear more often. The Buster Shot and Z-saber get an attack boost, while sacrifcing some speed.
Power form (purple)- Zero's power is boosted to its limit, while sacrificing some speed in the process. This form also negates the three-hit Z Saber combo in favor of a single overhead slash.
Erase form (magenta)- The Erase Form allows the Z-Saber and Shield Boomerang to nullify enemy shots. It cannot use saber combos, instead it always uses the forward slash.
Proto form (black)- Zero gains an attack increase to all weapons, but besides the Shield Boomerang none of them can be charged, and the Z-Saber cannot perform combos. It will use only the back slash. Zero also takes twice the normal damage from enemy attacks. This form is designed to make the game more difficult, and the player forced to use it at all times during the game's Hard Mode.
Defense FormX form (blue)- The Z-Buster gains an attack boost, and also allows a rapid fire capability. Like the Erase form, it cannot perform Z-Saber combos and instead uses only the forward slash.
Defense form (green)- Zero's defense is increased to its maximum, as well as sacrificing attack power in the process (except for the shield boomerang, which gains an attack boost).
Ultimate form (Crimson)- This form gives all of Zero's weapons an increase in power, as well as raising his speed and defense. This form also allows the player to input simplistic Street Fighter-esque commands to execute charged attacks instantly.
Weapons:
Shield Boomerang-
is quite a marvel of manipulation technology. Cerveau took the basic model of the Saber weapon and modified it to act as a reflective shield if Zero became skilled enough at using it. Furthermore, the ability to take shield form and hurl it in a boomeranging arc is quite impressive as well. While the Shield Boomerang itself doesn't have quite the depth that the Buster and Saber do, it's still a very versatile tool that is now a part of Zero's regular arsenal
Recoil Rod
The Recoil Rod is another modification, though this one combines bits of the Triple Rod and Chain Rod. It functions mostly as a short-range melee weapon with which Zero can rapidly stab enemies. With a particular EX Skill, Zero is able to unleash a furious combo attack. Charged up, the Recoil Rod can push blocks, remove enemies' shields, and function as a pogo stick
Z-Buster
(or Buster Shot) is a beam-pistol weapon that is similar to previous Z-Buster designs. Though it isn't the original Z-Buster design from when Zero was originally built (and in fact belongs to the dead Milan), the style and usage of the weapon remains intact. Zero's Buster weapon seems to be rather unique in that it seems to be the only one that is able to store and charge energy for more powerful shots
Z-Knuckle
. Zero attacks using his bare hands and super strength; if a fatal blow is delivered, it can rip off a piece of the enemy to be used as a weapon to replace the Z-Knuckle temporarily, or until manually cancelled. It can be charged up to allow for a stronger attack. Such Z-Knuckle weapons include a Battle Axe, a Laser Gun, a Cannon, a Claw (similar to the claw enemies in Mega Man Zero 2), and many others
Z-Saber
is the default weapon of the character Zero. Zero first received it during the events of Mega Man X2. After being trained by Sigma (at the time not yet a Maverick), Zero began using sabers after his training ended. The weapon's most interesting characteristic is the sheer amount of force it can dole out to enemies; it is able to easily slice through 300 mm of reinforced steel in a single stroke. The Z-Saber is also unique in the fact that it apparently doesn't require an energy source to operate.
