I've been debating this with me and myself over a while. (joke, just thinking about this for a while)

Should i go and find a psychiatrist or psychologist?

As far as i know, psychiatrists like to pump medicine, while psychologists like to talk... But i'm not sure.

And if i do go to either, i am afraid i'll have to get into the infamous pillz from hell. And i don't think i want that.
Last time i went to a psychologist, she told me to get some Royal honey thing pills, which should help with the lack of enetrgy thingie (that, and i am anorexic rolleyes )

She also told me i had something like a "clinical introvertion" grade thing, and that i should be taking pills for that. And that scared me.
Time after that i lost my job and stopped seeing her.

But, now i have another job, and i am trying to not lose it, so i might have chance to do something... But i'm unsure as to what to do.

I don't think i have any particular problem, i just have issues.
But everybody does, no?

If I were you I'd try a psychologist or some other sort of therapist first and then see a psychiatrist if things don't improve. Its hard to say without having further knowledge of your condition but I imagine that for anorexia, a therapist may be helpful.

If you don't want to be medicated then don't see a psychiatrist, they mainly deal with diagnosis and drugs. A psychologist however will not dole out prescription medication because they are not qualified to do so.

Neither. If your "issues" are minor and situational, you should go see a therapist! If your "issues" are deeply-rooted and suggestive of a disorder, you should first go to a general practitioner doctor for a referral. They'll check and make sure it isn't anything physically based, and then they will help you decide what sort of treatment, and thus what sort of professional, you need.

If you don't like pills, see a psychologist. It's the psychatrists that selll you pills. I would suggest seeing a psychologist if you're anorexic. It's a serious disorder.

Sorry if you odn't find this interesting, but that joke at the begining triggered somthing in my mind. A while ago, I found out not everyone talks to themselves. I thought this was really odd as I can't really imagine life without the little conversations I have with the many sides of me. So I asked a lot of people if they did it. And I found out that most people talk to themselves, but the ones that didn't thought it was really weird! xd Someone asked me if they had different voices... lol... I'm pretty sure he was joking.

for starters there is NOTHING absolutely NOTHING about taking pills...

usually you first go to your doctor...tell them your symptoms etc...they should do a DSM or some other form of a scale...then they usually refer you to a specialist

when i was seeing my clinical psych he actually made appointments for me with a psychiatrist to make sure my meds were working...

medication does not mean the easy way out...what it does is help settle the physiological symptoms so that you can go through therapy and take control of your life...

if you're problems are based around and event etc then clinical psych is the way to go...

but if you have alot of physicological symptoms eg, shaking, insomnia, fatigue, heart racing etc...and you get things like mood swings then medication actually helps to settle those down...

i have a text book chemical imbalance SSRI's have helped me ALOT...
i can concentrate and sleep better...i'm out of the house and alot more happier these days...

cognitive behavioural therapy...CBT...helped me get my thoughts back on track...

there is a big stigma about taking meds...what you need to realise is that even psychiatrists don't give out medication without a valid reason...in order to be put on medication you need to satisfy the criteria for them

pills are and aid in gettin better not a solution...

my friends have eating disorders and they go both psychologist and psychiatrist because alot of them have depressive disorders which had evolved into eating disorders...

but seriously the best way is to just talk to your doctor first...and hun learn to trust specialists...they know what they are talking about...
