The Rules Thread
Yep, every guild must have one. Hopefully all your questions should be answered by this helpful little guide. Read the entire sticky before PMing anyone with orders or questions. PM's from people who have obviously not read the sticky will not only be ignored, but whomever sends them risks being put on the dreaded black list! Read the rules please! It's for your own good xp
What IS "Box of Crayons"?
We are basically a group or collective of artists who commission art. Instead of creating the entire piece ourselves, we offer our services as colorists for lineart/sketch pieces that you, the customer, have done, but would like to see colored in a style or quality that you yourself can't do -- maybe you don't have the time, the tools, the practice, etc. Each artist has his or her own thread in the guild with their own samples, prices, processes, and the like, and you as the prospective customer, get to peruse each artist's work until you find a style, quality, and price-range that suits you. At that point you commission the artist using whatever forms he/she provides you, and you follow all rules and processes the artist asks of you. You may commission anyone who is currently "open," and you may commission as many artists as you like; you could even get several versions of the same picture colored!
In addition to serving as a "collective shop," this group runs a critique arena and a resources guide, as well as a quality breedable pet shop.

Rules for VISITORS + customers
1. No spamming, and NO BUMPING.
2. No flaming and no harassment of any kind. This guild is still inside Gaia and is subject to the TOS. Any repeat violation of this rule will result in getting an official Gaia Moderator involved, and may result in YOUR being warned or banned from the site.
3. You may not start your own coloring shop in the guild. Only members may have a coloring shop in the guild and membership is currently closed.
4. No lineart/finished CG art theft. Again, art theft of any kind is against Gaia's TOS. Just claiming that you drew something that you did not in passing is enough to get you banned from Gaia forever!
5. Do not start a new thread. Period.
6. Do not post in one of the stickies or in a new thread asking for colorists to come to you (for example: "Hi, I'm opening a breedables shop and I'm looking for a few colorists to help me out, PM me if you're interested."). You may either commission colorists directly or offer them a link to a contest. Nothing else!
7. Please read rule number 6 again so I can be sure that you've gotten that. There is nothing more aggravating than this, I assure you.
8. Lineart or sketches that you are commissioning to be colored MUST be BY YOU or you must have express permission by the artist to use it that way. If you submit a lineart or sketch you are admitting ownership to the image, therefore if it is found out that it is not yours, even if you didn't SAY so, by submitting it you will have agreed that it is: You risk being banned from Gaia completely by a Gaia moderator.
9. Each artist has his/her own set of rules and you are expected to abide by those while in his/her thread and while ordering his/her art, and probably while displaying his/her finished collaborative piece.
10. Be specific in your orders. No one likes an order that says something like "I have a breedable shop and I need a colorist!" and nothing else. Fill out the form, leave links, information, sample lineart, pay information, etc, etc. This goes along with rule number nine in that you should always follow the artist's rules that are in his/her thread. If you don't follow their rules, you risk being ignored or even blacklisted GUILD-WIDE.

F.A.Q.
What is this place, exactly? Read the first post.
What do I do here? Read the first post.
Okay, I have some lineart I want to see colored... and I'm looking for cell-style/soft-style/other-style artists only, and I only want to pay such-and-such gold for it. Is there a quick way to browse artists? Yes. A directory that is sorted by style, price, waiting time, and quality scale is located in the stickies.
CAN I BE A MEMBER!!! crying ?? At this time, no. In the future, perhaps. Please check back. We don't want to be particularly exclusive or mean about this, but we haven't ironed out all our processes for choosing new members at this time, and would prefer to just wait on this until we get things more under control.
How do I color like so-and-so?? How do I get such-and-such effect?? Visit the resources sticky for information and to see if your favorite artist has posted a tutorial. Suggestions and questions are welcome there, if they aren't already answered. Carefully read the thread and make SURE that what you want isn't already there before asking. We don't mind honest mistakes, but blatant laziness will not be tolerated.
I have a problem. gonk Who should I ask for help? That depends on what you need. If it's something general, like a post that needs to be deleted or something to do with the guild, any member of A-Team can help you. If you have petshop questions, for now pm Roseanne. If you have questions about our graphics or layout (except in the colorists' individual shops), see AnimeJet. Want to be affiliates? Want to advertise us? Want to do a link exchange? Chicky-chans Ghost is the one to talk to. When you have suggestions or questions about one of the stickys, or have something you think should be added to it, Khetienn is your girl.
Where do I get Photoshop/OpenCanvas/Painter/Microsoft Paint??? domokun At the software store. For free trials of the various software packages, run a search on Google or your favorite search engine and visit the company's homepage; many have free trial periods. Please don't bug us to find the links for you. And NO asking for pirated copies or serial numbers.
What the... what is the A-Team? Well it's this show with Mr. T. But it's also the oh-so-clever name of this guild's group of moderators. Be nice to the A-Team because they are watching you ... always watching you.... eek
Who IS the A-Team? Your friendly A-Team mod squad is:
AnimeJet Chicky-chans Ghost Damia Grynn DJPandaHat Jeseia Moretia Khetienn !Mech_Scara Pixel Wicheta Roseanne Sora Icefreeze spy//alex
Who is TehColorist?? = TehColorist is the guild/shop/petshop's mule account. All members of A-Team have access to her for easy access to the shop post, the guild's gold and the guild itself.
sweatdrop This guy here is breaking one of your rules... what should I do about it? Find an A-Team member and hopefully someone should be there shortly to deal with it, but to ensure that someone sees it, PM TehColorist with a link and you can be SURE that it will be dealt with very pronto.
I wuv you. Where do I donate to? Why thank you redface heart all donations should be sent to TehColorist. Donations are very much appreciated, and will be used to pay back people who donated large sums of gold to fund the creation of the guild, as well as paying for the petshop's initial expenses, and for any events such as contests or raffles that may be held in the future.

Rules for Members
1. You may only have ONE shop thread. Accidental double postings are okay and just PM TehColorist or someone on A-Team and they will delete one for you (or change the title of your duplicate to "Delete me please").
2. The title for your shop thread MUST be of the following format: "Username -- Status: open/closed (extra)" For example: "Roseanne -- Status: Closed (finals x_X)" "Roseanne -- Status: Open" "Roseanne -- Status: Open (until June 1st)"
Do not get flashy with punctuation or capitalization: BAD example: "****ROSEANNE**** -- Status: OpEn!!! (HIRE ME!!!)"
Do not use the parenthetical insert to say something irrelevant BAD example: "Roseanne -- Status: Open (I like ninja-chickens!)"
As you can see, I used the parenthetical extra field to put an emoticon. References to how you're feeling, what kind of workload you can handle, etc etc are allowed, if they're not off-the-wall or really crazy! like (I AM SO PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW) is probably not acceptable.
I'm only making this a big deal to reduce clutter and to ensure that no one is getting an unfair amount of business because of unfair marketing (flashy titles). The reducing clutter is the biggest element though, because as you know, with 20 artists at the beginning of this thing, it's going to be QUITE messy if we don't get this down, and we're trying to look professional and cut down on confusion for the customers.
3. You're responsible for your own thread. You may hire someone to do it for you, but no one on A-Team, TehColorist, nor Roseanne is obligated or responsible for your own thread. If you don't have the time or desire to make your own little shop thread, you may use what you have up at the Shop thread in the Requests and Commisions forum; quote the post that you're in and copy and paste your little block into a new post here at the guild.
4. You're also responsible for spelling out your own rules/forms/anything else you want on your page. I understand some people don't have time for this, but for most people it's a relief to be able to have things done their way, and it's also a relief for the people on A-Team who have worked themselves crazy just updating less than 10 fields for 20 artists at the shop thread so far.
5. If there's a problem with the customer in your transaction -- he won't pay, she's requesting all sorts of changes and things about the image before she'll pay, etc etc, they are not the shop's problem, they are your problem. There's nothing I can do about it, there's nothing anyone else here can do about it. If it gets to the point where you feel they are scamming you, contact a regular Gaia moderator.
6. Do not spam your thread. You may check in and say things from time to time, but posting "Dum dee dum *waits for customer*" and then "*whistles to self*" five minutes later is spamming. You may chat with others in your thread... but please please try to be respectful and responsible with conversations; if you keep up a constant party-line in your thread to where you have hundreds of pages and have never slipped from the top position in the thread ordering, you may be asked to stop, you may have your thread temporarily locked, and finally you may be banned from the group. Unfair practices and underhanded dealings are not in the spirit of the group.
7. Protect yourself and the shop: Make sure the person has ownership of the lineart they are sending you!
8. Credit your samples. I can't stop you from displaying samples where you can't remember the artist's name and say as much, underscoring the fact that you didn't draw it, but I suggest using pieces that you can give credit for. If an artist requests you remove a picture from your samples, please don't start a debate about collaborative rights and just remove it; It's probably not worth a huge battle and getting the mods involved.
