Anyways. Tell us about yourself! 3nodding

Hi, I'm Chris. I don't know anyone else in this guild but got a random invite, checked out the scene, and decided I like it -- sure beats the BSB guild I'm in (more on that later). I'm 19 and from Long Beach, CA. I try not to use "like" every other word, unless I'm talking about someone being really attracted to someone.
I was browsing the General Rules sticky and noticed some things I have in common with Cait: - Name starts with C - From the West Coast - Not close-minded - Have been using Gaia since '03 - Weird thyroid stuff The last thing I'm still getting checked for at the doctor's, and, yeah, it sucks.
Wouldn't consider myself an indie kid because there's stuff I love that I'd get shot for in some circles. Mainly, the Backstreet Boys. And if those two words are enough to send you running, too bad. You can try to argue with me, but I won't fight. I like them and I'm tired of flame wars.
Of course, I do have other interests that are "cool for me, as well. I'm a huge Modest Mouse fan and have been to a couple of their concerts. I've almost got a complete legit collection, hard CDs and all (which says a lot because I am a downloader/CD borrower-ripper), but I'm dying for a copy of Interstate 8, but $70 is out of my price range for a CD.
My other favorite US band is Rooney, and after I post this intro (that is quickly turning into a novel), I'll head over to the Recommendation Sticky and put in a word for them there.
Apart from US bands, I love Japanese music. They have a great scene there, though they refer to indie as "indies" with an s at the end. One of my favorite bands is BeCr, short for Beat Crusaders. They sing in the awesomest broken English and can put a girl into a bikini by the end of any music video. I guess I'll stop here for now, though I'm sure you all gave up after "Backstreet Boys."
So there's my new book: "A Long-Winded Introduction." I'll be signing copies at your local Borders on Tuesday.

Hmmm. Well I was invited to this guild, like some or many of you. Good thing, I would totaly been wrapped up in my selfish head to ever find it.
Call me Mrs. Que, or Que, Or even Master, I don't mind- just nothing to -mean-.
I 'indy' (or just "obsucre" bands in general) enjoy Bloc Party, Beck (like talkin' red pills blue pills here) Muse, Primus, MSI, Kidd Dakota, Voltarie (yeah, the modern singer as well as the dead french guy), Xiu Xiu, Tomahawk, Hannah Fury, Ben Folds, Placebo, The Birthday Masacer, Ellegarden, and Rip Slyme.... does Flogging Molly count? surprised
I've been in a lot of debates what indy music is- and when it no longer becomes indy music and become mainstream soft rock or what ever (insert lable).
I generaly listen to harder subtances such as Ramnstein, Cannible Courpse, and Malkavian, but eh- I am diversed enough in basicly everything.

About Shinobi:
I am 21 years of age and live in Ohio (you know, that state that everyone hates because of the last presidential election! It isn't really our faults that so many votes weren't counted...). My music tastes have gone insane lately and I've found myself listening to more and more things that result in raised eyebrows from other people. I've recently realized that Jazz and Jazz infused music is rather interesting as well as music that can be influenced by the carnival without sounding like a disaster. Other than that, I've heard most of the music I listen to categorized as being "indie".
Other things I'm interested in include black and white photography, animation, comics, languages, drawing, video games, literature, writing, traveling, origami, religions (more the study of rather than the practice of), mythology, science, mathematics, and overthinking anything to the point of it being comedic.

Ok, erm...where to begin. I guess I'll start w/ my name. My name is Susan, but I don't go strictly by that. I may hurt you if you call me "Suzie Q", though. (Don't ask, it's a weird complex I've had all of my life.) A few of you already know me, or have talked to me on here, so you already know some of the details about me. For those of you who don't know I'll list a few tidbits here:
Other than music, I love art and would love to become an artist one day. I'm currently getting a BFA in drawing at Shawnee State University. It's ok, but I'm thinking of transferring to OU (Ohio University) or CCAD (Columbus College of Art and Design) in the future. If you can't obviously tell, I'm from Ohio, too... biggrin
I am also interested in various things such as Drum and Bugle Corps, astronomy, astrology, the Japanese language and culture--specifically the geisha culture; cartoons, knitting and crocheting, reading and so on and so forth. Oh, and I'm also 20. 3nodding
As for music, I don't really know if you could consider me "indie". I do like a lot of bands that are or have been labelled under the term, but anymore now I just view it as something to stick a band under. It's not label I really try to achieve. If someone wants to call me an indie snob or an "elitist b***h", then so be it. Just let it be known that I like what I like--clothing, music, aesthetics and all--because I think it's good. Not because I think I should.

Hey, name's Jack. Call me Jak though, it's less mainstream that way...
I'm 15, and you'll probably tell this by the way I spell words like COLOUR or FAVOURITE, but I'm English. Due to the Enbglish-ness of myself, you'll have to excuse me for not hearing many American bands, or for that matter, not knowing if American bands I do like have gone mainstream.
But yeah, for the most part my interest in music ranges from American Analog Set to Van Morrison (oldies whore biggrin ).
Oh, and I HATE SUMMER SO MUCH IT HURTS. Just so you know... rolleyes
