Who do you think would win Dante? Or Sephiroth?

Dante would win. Vergil642 and I have proven this before. I would post why right now but it is 6 a.m and I need some shut eye.(See you in twelve hours)

Heh, when it comes down to it Sephiroth's got the following that can hurt Dante
-Supernova: Instantly takes off 80% of your HP. Meanin' he can't kill Dante with this.
-Heartless Angel: Can be stopped by shooting Sephiroth.
-Pale Horse: Oh whoops, Dante's immune to status effects as proven in Shin Megami Nocturne (think that's the game...) negating this attacks best effect.
Now, let's see. Every other attack can either be dodged, blocked, Just Guarded or taken with ease by Dante. Sephiroth can't really hit him unless Dante allows it as Sephiroth's speed can be estimated at roughly the top speed of a bullet. Dante's reactions have been proven to be above this when he was a kid through the opening of DMC3 and throughout DMC3 where he does stuff like catch bullets with his teeth and shoot other bullets from the air whilst upside down at point blank range. Strength wise Dante's stronger than Kratos from GoW (Kratos has trouble swinging a sword the size of Rebellion around, Dante can do it fast enough to accidentally cut all the rain from the air that is going to hit him in a 6ft radius around him just by swinging Rebellion at Vergil.) and Sephiroth's not been proven to be stronger than Kratos.
In the end, that's all Dante needs to win. He's essentially immune to all of Sephiroth's attacks, is too fast to be hit by Sephiroth and can then make himself far more powerful with UDT, DDT, DT and other such stuff.
Dante's got this fight easily.

Dante's defeated 2 Lords of the Underworld, and his brother who held his fathers power, whom defeated those same lords of the underworld millenia before. Mundus had the power to hurtle meteors and the like at Dante in the final battle(which nulls Sephiroth's meteor attack as well). He can freeze time, run faster than a bullet, has been stabbed more than a dozen times. His physical capablities are far greater than that of any human, or demon for that matter. Not to mention he has an amazing regenerative ability, and extremely high endurance.
Sephiroth may be strong, but Dante's single handedly defeated beings that can reshape entire realms at their will without breaking a sweat. He's stronger than his father, and his father was almost a god. Hell, Dante has 2 gods for weapons(Alastor, and Ifrit).

Hell, Dante has 2 gods for weapons(Alastor, and Ifrit). I wouldn't exactly say stronger. Relatively he is, but without the Sparda Sword he's nothing more than a gnat compared to Sparda's full power. And the best bit about Alastor and Ifrit is he simply overpowered them with his will. Sephiroth's not overpowered a thing with his will before (except maybe Cloud, but he isn't exactly strong minded...)

Am I the only one who believes Sephiroth would win? Think about it. As proven by Advent Children and KH2, Sephiroth can't TECHNICALLY die. As long as Cloud has darkness in his heart, Sephiroth will keep coming back.
Now, the question is: Which Sephiroth are we talking about? He's been different in each game/movie.
FFVII - Insane, can become Safer Sephiroth
Kingdom Hearts - Uber-fast, capable of dropping HP to one, teleportation, etc.
Kingdom Hearts II - Even more powerful, even faster... and he's got a**-WINGS!!!
Advent Children - He can fly, enshroud a city in utter-darkness, AND he can cut buildings in half.
Now, I'm saying it would be a clear-cut victory. It would probably be some incredibly-epic, city-destroying battle. I just think that, in the long-run, Sephiroth would win.

In DMC1 the sword doesn't become complete until Dante obtains both halves of the amulet, and the Force Edge. @Ceryus: Dante is just as fast at his weakest, which would be DMC3. His powers, and abilities noted from all three of the games that would trump Sephiroth. None of the Demon Lords in the Devil May Cry series die either, yet he has still succeeded in beating both of them. Demons who, much like Sephiroth, can destroy entire buildings, make meteors fall towards earth, and shroud an entire planet with a dark aura. I see no reason why someone who could beat a demon lord would have a problem fighting someone with whose abilities are nearly the same as that of those demon lords.

Not nessisarily an advantage. All it is is an illusion, as are the more impressive attacks in that form.
This means what outside of an RPG? Besides, Ultimate reverses damage.
He's been able to do that from the start. And it poses no ultimate threat to Dante, remember the Despair Embodied?
You mean something like Arius and Arkham did?
Cut's a building in half, yeah that's really impressive.... Oh wait. Dante tore apart a skyscraper demon, not to mention Rebellion is likely durable enough to block the Masamune and if not he can still dodge it easily enough.

You know, creepy demon that came out of nowhere at the end of DMC2? Yeah, that little ******** teleports behind you to try killing you; Didn't work.
As for the one HP thing: RPG battle physics =/= accurate, and if they were well then these guys would be royally ******** just on that principal against characters in an RPG where you can deal 1,000,000+ damage a hit while also getting combos of around 6-13 hits to a basic attack. I'll also point out that that sort of damage is rather trivial within it's respective game, just to prove my point. confused
Oh and let's not forget two little aspects about Dante's vitality; His regeneration rate is incredibly high outside of game mechanics, being back to near perfect condition shortly after being beaten within inches of his life and to the point of exhaustion and Ultimate takes damage and uses it to heal.
