Aven stared at the large double doors. They were covered in rust and dirt, but they were beautiful in her eyes. Nevertheless there was no way she could possibly open those doors.
There has to be a catch somewhere, she thought to herself and searched the posts for inscriptions or something.
"How do these things open?" she mused as she tried pushing and pulling to no avail. A crazy thought bubbled into her mind. "Open sesame? Mellon? Room service?" she half-giggled.

After several fruitless attempts, Aven stood there alone, her hands on her hips. A gauzy bug flitted by her head and she waved it away only to receive a sharp bite.
"OW!" she yelped and whapped the offending creature away. The little thing bounced against the doors and they opened. Aven blinked as she nursed her hand. The creature was in actuality a fairy.
"Cruddy little..." she mumbled as she walked towards open doorway. She had almost gone through when she was struck with an idea. Grabbing a handkerchief she picked up the dazed fairy and put it in her pocket. It might come in handy later on.

Sky sat on the labyrinth wall, watching the fairy abuse. "Tsk tsk tsk...You should have known the fairies would bite. They don't like being touched let alone swatted at as though they were mere insects."
She crossed her legs as she rested her hands on the stone wall, the roughness of rock against her soft fingertips.
"Poor little fairy. Such un-needed abuse when all she had to do was ask the right question."

Jareth watched Aven in one of his crystals in his throne room.

"It should have known better than to bite me," Aven said wryly patting her pocket, "now it knows better."
She stepped into the Labyrinth half expecting Sky to follow her. What kind of parent names their child "Sky"? Why not name them "Puddle", or "Rock" while they're at it. she idly wondered as she looked around the apparently similar paths.
"So you're here to help or make things harder?" she asked trying to take out clues from the blank walls.

"Neither and both."
Her real name was Skyling but Jareth often used Sky for short. She'd only heard him say her full name when he was upset with her...which was a rare occassion.
"I'd rather make your life a living hell. Though if you've figured out how to get inside, I'm sure you can figure the labyrinth out....any genius should."

Aven chuckled. "Things aren't always what they seem," she tsked, "I can't take it for granted. Though I'm flattered."
She became momentarily distracted by the lichen and the glitter that seemed to cover everything, but didn't scratch off.
"Hope you don't mind if I walk and talk," she said before picking a direction and heading down that way. "Am I correct in guessing you don't like me much?"

"Am I correct in thinking you hate everyone you first meet that throws your own medicine back at you?"
Sky leapet down and landed quietly like a cat on her feet, staying put a moment before following behind. Her footsteps didn't really make a sound, not even disturbing the branches and vines.

"Hmm? No, not really," she said absently, "it's kind of a nice change from the grovelling and adoration. Besides, hatred is a waste of time, it's so much easier just set someone's hair on fire and get it over with."
She grabbed a fallen branch and snapped to a comfortable length. Twirling it between her fingers, she began poking the walls searching for hidden switches.
"Strange," she mumbled, "there's no mortar between the bricks..."

"You're always demanding respect. Not everyone is going to give that you automatically. Sometimes it must be earned."
She watched her attempt to solve the labyrinth, while twirling a crystal in her hand. It wasn't the same type of crystal Jareth uses, but it was a crystal none the less...

"That's because I've done some pretty great things in my life," she said as she kept poking the walls, "what other person discovered the path to cold fusion before they were 15? It's not exactly what I was searching for when I stumbled on it but what things have you done?"
The branch then poked through an opening in the wall. Finally a turn in the maze. She cautiously approached it.

"Why would you care?"
Sky didn't quite forgive so easily, especially when one demanded so much of her..

"Just as I suspected," Aven rolled her eyes and walked to the different part of the labyrinth. The stone was of a sandy hue and not a bit of glitter in sight. She tapped her makeshift cane pondering her next move.
"I wonder if I can climb these walls to get a better look," she asked herself.

"Wouldn't work. The walls are always shifting."
She stood by, her hands behind her as she toyed with the crystal pondering on throwing it at Aven just for small revenge on the ether being thrown at her.
"What is it you suspected?"
